Day 5 As A Female Tourist In Afghanistan...Kabul Zoo, Negative Airport Customs Experience
**These videos were filmed in July of 2024**
Today is the day I leave Afghanistan. I feel it's important for potential travelers to this country to hear what I experienced, so they can make more informed decisions. The airport experience was quite...different from what I was told to expect. Please, do your research and check your expectations when traveling here. It was a fantastic cultural experience, but it was a risk to come here. I'm glad I had this opportunity to visit here. Thanks for watching!

Day 4 As A Female Tourist In Afghanistan...Shopping In Kabul, Afghani Version of American Food
Просмотров 897Месяц назад
These videos were filmed in July of 2024 Today was far more pleasant than the previous day! And it's also my last day in Afghanistan! We spent it exploring Kabul, getting some more unfortunate "tourist privilege", and probably my favorite part...seeing what Afghanistan thinks a hamburger and pizza from America is like! Hey, I can only imagine what they might think of any Afghani foods that are ...
Day 3 As A Female Tourist In Afghanistan...Ghazni Province, Bad Police Experience, Fun Locals!
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.Месяц назад
These videos were filmed in July of 2024 Today was a unique day, in that it was an amazing experience interacting with locals and seeing some amazing history and culture! What made it challenging was an unpleasant interaction with police. It's a risk you take by going to these countries, but never did I think it would happen to me, as I feel I try to go out of my way to be respectful of local r...

Day 6 As A Tourist In Syria...Palmyra Ruins Are Stunning...Leaving Syria

This video series was filmed in the spring of 2024. It's my last day in Syria! It was spent seeing the amazing ruins at Palmyra, where despite earthquakes, war, and time...several ruins are still standing and with such exquisite detail still able to be seen! I really enjoyed visiting Syria, and I hope this series helps you make a decision on whether or not Syria is a good fit for your travel go...

It was a privilege to be able to visit the towns of Maaloula and Homs. This is where some of the most interesting and ancient Christian history is at. And then there was the food...special thanks to Amoo Hamid in Aleppo for inviting me on the fly to come see how the...

First of all, as an Afghan man living in Germany all the criticism of the tAliban is directed toward us Afghan men although I worked for the US army (2012-2014) and I have been woman’s rights activist my whole life. I want to thank you for taking the opportunity to travel there as a woman and see what women go through daily (though most of the violence toward women happen behind the walls, not visible to the public). So what was your conclusion? Is it the Afghan men to blame, or is it their particular axiology and lifestyle that made them the men they are today? In others words, should we criticize (demonize) the men or their lifestyle (true Islam in their perspective, though you may disagree and consider yours to be true) Throughout our history (Ariana, Khorasan) we never had such misogynist perception of a woman. Women took more part in building our civilization than men, until Islam came. You are in the of beginning experiencing Islam and we are in the end.

That's a really interesting question. I think from my perspective...it's the lifestyle, culture, and how they were raised that shaped who they are. I don't think they are born wanting to treat women the way they do...nor are the women born believing they are subservient to men. I've been to other Islamic countries where the women are treated like queens and the women are very happy with their husbands (as I'm told by both male and female tour guides I've encountered there). But...I answer this from the perspective of a tourist. The day to day interactions of women in the world, their routines, and a truly deep understanding of Islam are things I'm missing. Maybe my opinion would be different if I had the opportunity to really dive deep into the different cultures. My experiences just scratch the surface.

@@megseverywherewhich Islamic country? Your understanding of political thought in islam seems to be close to zero. The taliBan derive and implement such harsh rules from what they call “sharia”, not from culture. They (the taliban) and many of your other salafi brothers across the Arab world claim that’s the real Islamic governance. For the past 100 years they fought and destroyed three democratic governments, arguing they were not Islamic enough, though their constitution was based on principles of Islam. Look how many supporters the Taliban have in the Arab world and in London. It’s your understanding of the Islam and history of Islam that is wrong, not the cultures that have been ruined by this ambiguous religion. We Persians of Afghanistan and of Iran are the same people, but now divided by religion (Shia and Sunni). Sunni Persians in Afghanistan hate Shia Persians in Iran and vice versa. Read how much Persians contributed to the Islamic civilizations. All the sciences and arts by Persians credited to the so called Muslims.

If you ask honestly...the voice I intended this video to be speaking to would be towards other less traveled Americans that judged me for going to Africa to begin with. This video has been taken out of context countless times. I'm speaking to the uninformed Americans I work and interact with. It's not clear in the video, and given that I am not a professional vlogger...I can understand both sides and it's a lesson I have learned as a result. I certainly cannot change my video or the minds of people that made snap judgements without hearing my side of the story. I hope you might be one of the few willing to look at both sides :)

Hello mam. i hope you had a great time in Afghanistan, just to make it clear, wearing Hijab in Afghan society is not something which shows that women are being oppressed. its a type of hijab and most of the women are wearing it by their own well, its part of our religion and culture and women wear it happily except a minority, i think women in west are more in need of acquiring a modest lifestyle (even Christianity teaches that) ... instead i will advice you rising some more important topics such as education etc... which can truly help them. almost all women in my family are educated and alhamdulillah wearing islamic hijab. have a good time there. Hope you enjoy the food 😊😊

You are welcome in Afghanistan, I know that Afghanistan needs even more work after 50 years of war and violence. It is really not such a good experience what you say at the checkpoint, if an Afghan I apologise for that as you know that in Panjsher is usually strict control because that province always had more propaganda and so that people can stay safe. What a tips can give as a tourist you should not wear a Burqa so you get less attention for safety.
