A HISTORY LOVER IN DARWIN: Australia's northernmost capital city
Yes, I have had very real dreams, but they usually involve family members who have passed. They tell me things or answer questions that I have. But I will tell you one thing that to me was very weird but not a dream. The first time I went to Hever, I knew where everything HAD been. I told my husband what was where and how it wasn't the same layout. Even the barn across the street at a time when I didn't know that there was one over there.Very strong. About the family dreams-one time my Dad showed me how to fix a broken towel rack. Even showed me where the glue was in the hardware store. Yup, fixed it right up. I guess I should write these down, but really, I don't dream very much. I remember maybe 1 per year.
Thank you for sharing!
Very interesting, loved the costumes in Government House
The exhibition was great!
The wood furniture is not elaborate but it's exquisitely shaped. Beautiful forms. That's what really struck me. Thank you Natalie.
You're very welcome!
Very interesting story.
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful video love all this history ❤❤
Me too!
How fascinating Natalie. Thank you for sharing your dream with us. There must be some reason you dreamt of her without knowing consciously who she was. Perhaps a book on her life is what she is hoping for! Claire Ridgeway dreamt of Anne Boleyn’s execution and started the Anne Boleyn files. ❤
Thanks for taking the time to comment! I do love a good mystery!
Shes calling to you, maybe time to do a podcast about her after researching more!
Could be!
Not strange, I have precognitive dreams often. Wonderful that you shared! I'm fascinated as I have read so much about Amy Johnson, wonder if they knew each other?! Love this
Thank you so much for tuning in!
I have had dreams and lucid on Anne Boleyn and her family ever since I was little. Significant?
So interesting! I've only dreamt of Anne once, which I find a little odd considering I've spent that last 15 years studying her life!
Thank you for sharing this delicious mystery! Very honoured to have been the first you told. 🥰 I do have an idea… it is a little left field. 😂 What if … Millicent and Anne Boleyn are two physical expressions of the one “over soul”? I see an alignment between them, not just in their intense dark-eyed, dark-haired good looks but also in their trail-blazing brilliance. Each in their time forged a new path for women. If so, this alignment might explain why you dreamt of her. 🤔xxx
Hmm, what a fascinating idea!!
😮. ❤
Stunning !!!
Hi from Kentucky in the US thank you for another beautiful video
Thank you for tuning in!
Glad you're safe home Natalie. Sounds like a fantastic trip. Congratulations. And thank you for mentioning Howarth. Just looking at photos, it looks so beautiful. The Yorkshire countryside is perfect. I'm a Howard so I've done a lot of digging on Castle Howard and the Howard Hills park. Hope to visit soon. Your channel helps give me ideas. Thank you. ❤ On the US release of The Waiting Game, they use the portrait of Mary FitzAlan which always makes me want to cry. Such a beautiful portrait of a brilliant young woman...who died at age 17. One of those situations where you want to yell that life isn't fair. I'm ordering both the books you showed today. Can't wait to read Eagle and the Hart. See you next time.
Thanks for taking the time to comment and I hope you enjoy the books!
Good to hear from you, Natalie!
Thanks for watching!
That little Christmas Arch is beautiful! Thanks Natalie 😊
I bought a Christmas pyramid from them last year, which is also gorgeous! I'll have to feature it in a future video. :)
So glad to hear from you, Natalie. I did miss your Friday Check ins. What wonderful adventures you’ve had! Bali looks absolutely heavenly. Yes, a perfect place to relax and recharge. I, too, love, love, love Christmas. I actually have about 14 plastic bins of Christmas Decorations alone. Stored in a separate storage unit, because our small condo doesn’t have enough room for them! 😊 See you soon. Ellen
Thanks for watching, Ellen! Glad to have found another Christmas fan!
So glad you got to see Howarth!
One of my fave places!
Planning to visit Bronte country next year - it's a long way from Tudor Wales but not so far as Sydney!
It's such a beautiful place, Tony!
Glad to hear you had a good time over here in England Natalie 😊Bali looked incredible too! 🌺 I am currently reading The Waiting Game by Nicola Clark too, really enjoying it. Going to read Dan Jones’s Henry V next. Loved the Christmas ornament you got. Me and my family really love Christmas too. Lots of Christmas bits are coming into the shops over here now 🎄
I bought some lovely decorations while I was in England from the Liberty Christmas shop. I can't wait to put them up!
The book shelves look great! You organize much quicker than I do. I tend to see things as I go and drop right down a rabbit hole looking in them and even just sitting right down to start reading something that caught my eye. Takes me days!! 😂😂
We have the same taste in books, haha. I'm American and I have a question. What is a Council Cleanup?
So the Council, the governing body that looks after the area where I live, gives residents two clean-ups per year. Basically, you can throw out a certain amount of rubbish/furniture etc. and they collect it and dispose of it for you.
Love your lifestyle precious ❤
Just got Hamnet on audible thanks to your recommendation- can’t wait to start listening on my walk tomorrow.
Hope you love it!
I inherit my love of books from my mother, also. When we downsized to a smaller home eight years ago, I had to part with so many books that it was sad. But I still have a large number here. Books are my friends and comfort. I will never not have books. Thank you so much for all your sharing, Natalie. We love it.
Thank you for watching and for sharing a little of your story.
Although I mainly read British novels, one of my favorite time travel novels is Helene Wecker's The Golem and the Jinni. Her research was impeccable! Although it's a fantasy, Wecker does a stunning job evoking turn of the 20th century Manhattan and its immigrant neighborhoods on the Lower East Side. I highly recommend it.
I'll check it out!
Lovely place- living to be over 80 was quite an accomplishment in the 19th century! You have a cute dog!
Thank you! He's the star of the show.
oh wow how fabulous to have an author-signed copy of 'A Traveller in Time'. I read it as a child and always remembered the atmosphere of it. I must buy a copy.
So atmospheric!
Natalie, you forgot to include The Final Year of Anne Boleyn,” 😘 this was the most evocative and immersive time travel experience for me. I felt like I was traveling with Anne during her final progress.
Aww, thank you so much!
I really enjoy Margaret George’s writing. If you haven’t, check out the Autobiography of Henry VIII.
I think I read it many years ago. So many books, so little time!
Well, this was delightful. I have the Uttley and the Farrell. I also have The Last Year of Anne Boleyn. Mantel’s trilogy may have ruined me for other historical fiction because it makes other books seem so shallow.
I know what you mean. She's a hard act to follow!
I once read a book, many years ago, about a woman who was a “friend” of Anne Boleyn and 12:18 became involved with her brother George, it was a time travel story because it began with the main character going back in time after a road crash. It was only a short story but very interesting
Does sound interesting!
I love A Traveller in Time I have several copies, have you watched the DVD of a Traveller in Time?
I don't think I have! Need to find it now.
I read a traveller in time back when I was at school many years ago and it always stuck either me- I managed to get a copy recently in a second hand bookshop. Love it. Have the other two books on my tbr
I hope you enjoy reading them!
Great recommendations!
Thanks!
@@NatalieMGrueninger I just ordered 'A Traveller in Time'! Thank you again.
@@eaagoutlander Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you 😊 I’m looking for some fun reading
Hope you enjoy them!
Wonderful recommendations, Natalie. I've read both Hamnet and Wolf Hall, beautiful, amazing books. I've not heard of A Traveller in Time but sound lovely too. I recently read Dissolution by CJ Sansom which is a crime novel set in Tudor England and it was brilliant. Looking forward to continuing that series. I also enjoyed Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth and World Without End. Enjoy your time with Burial Rites. One of the most atmospheric and anxiety inducing books I've ever read. One of my all time favourites 🙂
Thank you for watching, Sarah! I can't wait to listen to more of Burial Rites today. Such a gorgeous book!
Hilary Mantel's writing is a massive influence on my own Tudor novels. She lives forever through her books.
She sure does!
@@NatalieMGrueningerThank you so much for this book review. I have read Hamnet, and adore Hilary Mantel's work, but now I'm on the hunt for the Traveller. I love your signed copy and wondered if you would sign any if your books? I have sent you a PM vis Facebook - hope that's ok 😊
Thank you for these recommendations! Will definitely add them to the list!
Wonderful!
Thank you so much, Natalie! I’ve put all of these on my list. I am planning to read O’Farrell’s Hamnet and The Marriage Portrait back to back! 🥰 I loved reading Mary, Bloody Mary by Carolyn Meyer. It’s an older kids’/YA book from 2000 or so and I was really brought into Mary I’s horrific experiences and delplorable treatment by her father in the 1520s or 1530s. In any case, at the time, I was completely immersed in it. Oh, I LOVE Frenchman’s Creek and Mary Anne by Daphne du Maurier. Amazing and fascinating historical novels. Enjoy!!! ❤❤❤ Thanks again for your wonderful content, Natalie.
I loved 'The Marriage Portrait' too! Thank you for sharing some more books for my TBR list. If only I could read while I sleep. Ha, ha!
@@NatalieMGrueningerI know. Sleep gets in the way!!! 😁
So much to read ❤happy weekend precious ❤
Same to you!
I would love to see a bookshelf organization/ tour video if you want to make one! Your mom’s house is so cool. I love all the bookish quotes on the walls! ❤
I definitely think there will be one coming in the near future!
Thank you for sharing your day! Loved hearing about your Mum and seeing all the books. Loved the Frida Kahlo pillows too! 😀
Thank you for watching! The cushions are gorgeous. I'd like some for my study!
Hi Lochie! Him is a cutey patootie! Hi Natalie!
He sure is!
I just love the scenery and relaxation vibes ofyiyr videos. I love this channel and the Tudor channel.
I'm so glad!
Lochie is adorable. :)
I think he's the start of the show!
Loved this! I’m watching them out of order 😅, always enjoyable! Mum’s cameo is so cute 🥰 xx
Super cute! xx
I think I have that exact same desk! It's nice, and if I recall, quite affordable.
Love seeing that Spring is in the air! Lochie is so cute! Your mom’s book decor - wow, love that! I need those Frida pillows! Happy weekend ❤
Aren't they fab!
Such a lovely day out video happy weekend precious ❤❤
Enjoy your weekend too!
