@@sirusthevirus6879 shut it off in gear. It will stay in gear untill you turn key back on & step on brake. That should not do any damage unless shutting off in gear on a steep hill & shift selenoid has to work extra hard to shift it out of gear because weght of car is on it.

@@anstephens Its just tie wire. You can get at any hardware store. "Annealed wire", can get in galvanised or stainless steel. Regular bare metal annealed wire ,used for tying rebar works. but will rust a bit.over time.

Its not nessesary to remove it. I would make sure it is open & unplug it after a computer re-flash though. Guys remove them because it is easy to remove, it causes some restriction when compared with a n aftermarket horn. The flapper valev is þ4⁴⁴a9 componet of the egr system. It closes to create vacume forn egr dydem ub leave it in plaxeŕ

The truck has already been flashed with the egr valve & cooler still in place. Already deleted just not removed

@@michaelgarding516 It would probable be fine out of aluminum also. 1/8" might be a little thick. The thicker the plate you put in, the more you have to pry away the egr tube from the manifold & the more the angle of the mating surface changes. If plate is too wide it could not seal correctly or put too much tension on the exaust tube until it cracks.

@@manbuilds1587 I'm trying like crazy to get my E8 socket on the head of these bolts, and it just seems to small for the bolt. Are they definitely 8mm torx bolts, and not 9 mm???

My bobcat is the same, probable worse. Egr valve is the dumbest device on a diesel. Have to put a block off plate on that next.

@@spiker84 mine came out pretty easy. Some guys just put the hose over that fitting with out changing it out. Not as good as changing it out but if have to a guy could throw the hose on it until figure out how to get that seized fitting out.

I had the same issue, I used oxyacetylene torch and heated up the base (careful of the aluminum cuz it will melt) and then used knipex channel locks at the top, came right out after that. Could probably use propane, little safer on aluminum stuff

@@ronmoore3987 smaller hoses as well around the egr cooler. I had a coroded one that was leaking. Fixing that & new cap, I dont have any coolant loss issues.

@@gripguy6056 yes. Check my other videos. Changing gear oil, greasing actuator, greasing where shaft contacts yoke in transmission, having a good battery. All make for great shifts & reliability. That Smart was a good car, a young lady drove out infront of me on the highway a few months after making that video. I am driving the white one now. That one had actuator issues to work out.

@@Seth_ian_john The less restriction the better on a turbo diesel. Turbo spools quicker. Better bottom end because turbo will be spooled up already when going to accelerate. Should put a baffel somewhere in the pipe, it is too loud straight pipe at least I thought so :).

@@YENKOGT It wasnt terrible but better than would think. Around 10 mpg, It was a while ago now.

I chicken out towing like 9.5k , more than that I chicken out on my 2005 f350 5.4, is 4x2, I lack the confidence of my other trucks being 4x4 (you know the 4lo is an extra power source ) I get like 10 mpg too, and 12 - 13 unloaded.... My country is really uneven , there's a lot of hills.

@@kidneycancerwarrior6119 yes, if its stuck in gear or reads a fault from the clutch actuator not in the correct position, like if stuck or burned out. Because if the clutch is not functioning properly the car might start while in gear, so it wont start unless depressed or neutral. Model 450, 451 are not automatic. They are still manual transmissions, that are shifted & clutch controled by the computer. More fuel efficient, than traditional automatic trans.

@@manbuilds1587 mines when I go to start all the lights come on like it should but it doesn’t do anything but the sound of the clutch actuator engaging when turning on and off.Do you think is my clutch actuator??

Could be. Make sire in neutral, step on brake. Rock car forward & back a bit to see if will go to neutral. If neutral it should start. Could be starter, could be loose wire.

Yes. If you wanted to, a guy could install a block off plate at any location before the intake. To prevemt exaust gas from entering. The problem is the width of the plate in some locations. If install a plate without a computer reflash & disabling the components the egr will still actuate & the egr cooler will still be suseptible to normal heat stresses.

@@Whats_A_RUclips no sensors on exhaust. This is a smart 450 diesel. 2002-2006

No, wont break engine. On early smart 450 diesel there is no emissions sensors in muffler. Later models smart 451 diesel has a lamda sensor in the exhaust & if not connected it will throw an engine code. Muffler has a catylitic converter in it. After some miles it will plug up. Leaving old plugged up muffler on too long could damage the engine.

Yah but there is a few companies remanufacturing them into reliable equiptment. I didnt have the money to buy a quality machine. Just enough to buy one of these from auction to clear tall grass & trees. I agree, they are very dangerous, this one threw baldes many times. I have tried to upgrade it to a usable state. Alot of people have bought them already. Just trying to help out & make video of struggles. The motors & carriers are goot, this would be an excellent machine if it would quit throwing blades. Currently upgrading it to a different design.

Its flashed already, egr valve & cooler were still in place after re-flash.
