Bob Dylan performs Ballad of Donald White in the house of Eve and Mac McKenzie at Gerdes Folk City. Bob was introduced to them by Woody Guthrie's wife, Marjorie. I believe there are three other recordings of him performing this song so I'll try to upload those in the future. This recording is from the 'McKenzie Tapes' 1962. The pictures are also from around this year. Please note his hat My nam...

Bob Dylan and the Band cover Waltzing with Sin. This was recorded in 1967 during the basement tapes sessions, but since pictures from this year are so scarce, most of the photos in this video are from 1968. This is from the album "A Tree with Roots"
I think all these family photos are by Elliot Landy.
Only God knows the future 🙏 and what is in-store
The man can write a song.

“in my medicne cabinet , the winter fly gad died of old age“ ❤❤
I like to think that i am reasonably familiar with a fair amount of Dylan's early work ,,but this is the first I have heard of this beautiful, powerful song, to my shame.
Charlotte is one of my favourite concerts from the World Tour '78. Eden was really burning! This lovely instrumental, performed here with real verve by a cracking band, got the concert of to a flying start !
Fantastic song lovely family only God knows we're he is at ha
Thanks for this marvellous collection of photos from Bob and Sara!
Why does remind me of No More Catholics from Trainspotting 2?
サラとヤコブですか? 幸せそうだ
This sounds like Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues as well.
Pure gold, thank you.
Wonderful
Do you know the year of the recording, perchance?
Great stuff, treat your children right, with love and shelter and not beating or psychological violence - then they became good People.
Anyone know if this version is on Spotify or Soundcloud?
Crimson flames tied through my ears, rollin' high and mighty traps Pounced with fire on flaming roads using ideas as my maps "We'll meet on edges, soon, " said I, proud 'neath heated brow Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth, "rip down all hate, " I screamed Lies that life is black and white spoke from my skull, I dreamed Romantic facts of musketeers foundationed deep, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now Girls' faces formed the forward path from phony jealousy To memorizing politics of ancient history Flung down by corpse evangelists, unthought of, though somehow Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now A self-ordained professor's tongue too serious to fool Spouted out that liberty is just equality in school "Equality, " I spoke the word as if a wedding vow Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand at the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I'd become my enemy in the instant that I preach My existence led by confusion boats, mutiny from stern to bow Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats too noble to neglect Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect Good and bad, I define these terms quite clear, no doubt, somehow Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now
Interesting how Bob thought of her as something divine. She seems pretty ordinary. Love is indeed blind.
Outstanding!!!
C'est à pleurer tellement que c'est beau. ='(

I'm 35 and I've loved Bob Dylan since I was 15 (20 strong years) one of the best songwriters imo, and without a doubt the best lyricist of all time This song is pure genuis

Bob has a look of Dustin Hoffman in the thumbnail.
Immagini bellissime … tanta nostalgia
Listening to this my first night in Rome and I agree
My name is donald white, you see, I stand before you all. I was judged by you a murderer And the hangman's knot must fall. I will die upon the gallows pole When the moon is shining clear, And these are my final words That you will ever hear. If i had some education To give me a decent start, I might have been a doctor or A master in the arts. But i used my hands for stealing When i was very young, And they locked me down in jailhouse cells, That's how my life begun. Oh, the inmates and the prisoners, I found they were my kind, And it was there inside the bars I found my peace of mind. But the jails they were too crowded, Institutions overflowed, So they turned me loose to walk upon Life's hurried tangled road. And there's danger on the ocean Where the salt sea waves split high, And there's danger on the battlefield Where the shells of bullets fly, And there's danger in this open world Where men strive to be free, And for me the greatest danger Was in society. So i asked them to send me back To the institution home. But they said they were too crowded, For me they had no room. I got down on my knees and begged, "Oh, please put me away, " But they would not listen to my plea Or nothing i would say. And so it was on christmas eve In the year of '59, It was on that night i killed a man, I did not try to hide, The jury found me guilty And i won't disagree, For i knew that it would happen If i wasn't put away. And i'm glad i've had no parents To care for me or cry, For now they will never know The horrible death i die. And i'm also glad i've had no friends To see me in disgrace, For they'll never see that hangman's hood Wrap around my face. Farewell unto the old north woods Of which i used to roam, Farewell unto the crowded bars Of which've been my home, Farewell to all you people Who think the worst of me, I guess you'll feel much better when I'm on that hanging tree. But there's just one question Before they kill me dead, I'm wondering just how much To you i really said Concerning all the boys that come Down a road like me, Are they enemies or victims Of your society?
