    Helpful video. In a previous video, you weren't too impressed with your previous RV's build quality. How would you rate your Newell's build quality and service?

    • @mikedunn-nn5fu

      Thanks for the comment and question. Newell build quality and service are fantastic! My coach (which I bought used from Newell) has been great. The coach has a quiet , smooth ride. I was sold when I did the factory tour and saw the time and quality Newell puts into a coach. I also talked to Newell owners when on the factory tour and they said the phone service was real. The rear active steer tag axle was a game changer for me as the coach turns so much tighter with it. Everything works and no leaks with slides. They have gotten me in for service timely and they talk to you on the phone if you have an issue or even a question. Their service department is great. Of all the motor homes I have owned, this is the only one I tell my wife, "This is a really nice coach", every time I start to drive on a new trip. If near the factory, take the tour. You will enjoy it.

    It’s a good thing you weren’t too far from Miami, OK. If you had a smaller item like a headlight that needed to be replaced where would you consider taking the coach if you couldn’t get to Newell?

    • @mikedunn-nn5fu
      @mikedunn-nn5fu 8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching and the great question. I really had to think about my answer. I am a new owner of the Newell and would be very concerned to have someone other than Newell work on the coach. If it was a small issue, I would first call Newell and see if they could send me any parts needed and then walk me through the fix on the phone. Another option is to ask Newell if they have a dealer they feel confident with and have used that is in my area. I talked with Newell owners and according to them, there are some dealers that sell a lot of Newells and are good at repairs. At this point, I always go to Newell. They actually let you go into the shop and watch the techs work. I always learn something. Newell always seems to have the parts needed and the job is done correctly the first time.

    Does Newell not have an onboard surge protector/EPO? If not, do they have a particular brand that they recommend? Their 24/7 tech support is a very valuable feature and speaks to their integrity.

    • @motorhometalk
      @motorhometalk Год назад

      I did talk to other Newell owners and they reported that Newell does have an on board surge protector but if it takes a large surge and burns it is very expensive to replace so most use an outside portable. I recently was at Newell and had them check my AC units as my Watchdog EPO would turn red ; code E3 (coach drawing too much power). Newell reported my AC units were fine but they suspected the Watchdog EPO was the problem. Newell suggested just a surge protector (they recommended Surge Guard).

    1. Please discuss why you decided to flat toe instead of a tow dolly or open car hauler trailer. 2. Where did you get the run flat system installed? What is the process if you need to change a tire? Does the tire place need to have any special tools? I’ve heard stories with Retroband owners having some issues if the installer wasn’t familiar with the system. 3. I’ve never heard of a motorhome owner using Bridgestone or Firestone. I’ve heard of people using Toyo.

    • @motorhometalk
      @motorhometalk Год назад

      Hello Barry, (1) we decided to flat tow as we did not want to have a trailer or dolly to store. I did look at some dollies that collapse; watched some videos commenting that driving the car onto a dolly in certain weather conditions was an issue. (2) We went with Red Diamond Run Flat and had them installed at Gass Automotive in Sante Fe Texas (Houston area) as we were in TX getting our braking system installed on our Jeep. The process if need to change a tire is involved. The Run Flat is a one time use, it can only be installed by an authorized Run Flat dealer. Gass told me he had to have a fellow get certified by Red Diamond. I peeked while they were putting it in the tire (they would not let me in the shop or video the installation) it took a lot of time; we were there for amost of the day. They did give me some specific tool so any tire fellow could remove the old tire from the rim. (3) I agree, Michelin has always been my go to tire and I am not sure if others make 365 size. Most large Class A seem to use Michelin. Gass said he had a Tiffin.

    Excellent investment in the run flat system. A steer tire blowout, especially on a Newell or Prevost, will 99% of the time result in a loss of control and most likely a rollover if you don’t get stopped before you leave the roadway due to the weight on your steer axle.

    This is your second video i have seen and i just subscribed. I love motorhomes too. My wife had to talk me into buying one. I was against it in the beginning. Once she had me considering it I found that TV show that Lazydays had where people would spend an episode looking at RV's then buy one in the end. I was leaning towards a fifth wheel, but my wife was adiment we get a Class A. I started watching videos on Class A's. Then i found one I was interested in. There was a number you could text a salesperson at and I did. Texting turned into calling. I found the salesperson to be honest and helpful. We talked about my wife's handicap. She has two steel rods and six hooks that hold her spine straight. He said because of this we really needed to go diesel with the air ride suspension. We set a date and drove up to Lazydays in Tampa. We spent a while talking about what we planned to do with the coach and what amenities we thought we wanted. He had a few really good ideas too like Aqua Hot and keyless entry into the bays. He showed us three coaches that day that we liked then told us why we didn't want any of them. He said to give him time and he would find us the perfect coach. It took 10 months, but he kept his word and found us the perfect coach. It was a used 2006 42' Monaco Dynasty. It had the Aqua Hot, keyless entry, power reel for electric and water hoses. It leveled on the air suspension. No jacks. It also had 10 air bags. He sowed us where other cheaper coaches only had 4 air bags. He even let me drive one, a Berkshire, there was a massive difference in the ride. Both my wife and I just knew that this was our coach and we bought it that day. We had the seats reupholstered and some other work done in it. We also had the motor, generator and chassis serviced. My wife names everything and since it is a Monaco Dynasty she named her Lady Dye. We have had Lady Dye for almost 5 years now and we are very happy with her.
