It looks like the fall was caused because his left foot slipped due to the unevenness of the two platform boards.

I know so many guys who would do work this high up without gear to appear like a MAN and STRONG. Faking for other people can get you killed in these lines of work.
2 things to consider, fall factor and pendulum effect. I'm glad someone has wrote below he survived with minor injuries.
Loads of people out there just falling off stuff
Just yesterday I saw a construction worker walking along the edge of a building without any safety net. It was approximately the 10th floor. It was 40 degrees Celsius outside and the sun was shining brightly. Damn!
Shouldn't there be 2 cables when you do stuff like this? I can't see the second one on the video. I just refuse to work if there's only one safety cable provided. Other people can roleplay pendulum with their own bodies lmao

Awesome, glad to see it worked. I cant tell by video, but by other comments on here it worked. So much to be said for OSHA and safety programs for all workers, not just Union.

Except for the harness everything else look not properly setup. Slippery gloves. The vertical ladder unsecured, harness rope to long and anchored too far from the person

It wasn't the fact Darth Vader got very, very angry apon my Union Representative bringing this problem regarding the 'guard rails' up, its that it leads directly to the unstable weak point in the nuclear-powered engine 'exhaust port' fiasco and DEATH STAR refinancing fraud accusations. All's well that ends well, I got a promotion to Head Union Rep thanks to the previous head strangely evaporating at said meeting.
I occasionally had to wear fall protection and other ppe at the company I used to work at. We were “exempt” from certain other osha regulations because the facility manufactures advanced systems for military satellites and thus we had a pass to do whatever we wanted. If an osha guy showed up and started doing a safety audit, a few phone calls would be made and he would quickly leave after apologizing for the inconvenience. The safety factor for everything was at least doubled so there was little risk of an accident, (ex. we had 20 ton overhead cranes that were proof loaded to that, but we weren’t allowed to lift more than 10) but I’ll never forget standing under an enormous weldment and taking photos of it while it was proofloaded with 8,000 lbs. It was engineered and built to safely support 16,000, but holy moly watching it flex will make anyone pucker.
Unfortunate as it looks like there was no way to anchor above his work area and resulted in a pendulum.

Having line front or back? What is better? In Germany we only use fall preventers hooked in at the chest. Easy to control but whats the reason for having them at the back? Opinions?
There's pros and cons of both depending on the job. For fall arrest and fall restraint the back or "dorsal" attachment can be a safer position to fall into and the suspension trauma is supposedly less sever. The natural position makes it easier to retrieve the fall victim when hanging forward as opposed to splayed out like you would be when using the sternum attach point as you form a smaller package when hunched forward. Specially when doing confined space work down a small entrance hole for example. It's also a much easier position to work from as your lanyard is behind you and less likely to get caught up in what you're working with, depending on the job. For rope access or work positioning, working on cell towers, using tower hooks, etc I prefer the sternum attachment point it's more convenient when used as a second point or backup as it allows easier self rescue and access to the backup device. With rope access you usually have much smaller lanyards so less of a shock load on the body and with tower climbing hooks you're more likely to fall away from the ladder so I assume it's less violent. The later being only my opinion though as I have never taken a fall.
