Великобритания
Добавлен 19 фев 2021
Hello and welcome to Buckle Up Mk2, the second channel of the Buckle Up franchise. Follow the adventures of a trio of Brits - Harry, Jasper and Rob - in a quest to satisfy their passion for all things motoring in a hopefully entertaining (if somewhat argumentative) manner.
From reviews to podcasts, and first drives to vlogs, this is the more informal space for anything that doesn't make it to the main Buckle Up channel.

Toyota Aygo X First Drive Review | Have Toyota Saved The City Car? | Buckle Up
Today on Buckle Up Mk2, Rob goes for a first drive in the all new Toyota Aygo X.
The Aygo X is Toyota's smallest offering in the UK, but that doesn't mean it's small on tech or luxury features. With options like a canvas roof, as well as lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and cruise control, this little car is aiming big!
But how will it compare to rivals such as the Volkswagen up!, Hyundai i10, Citroen C1, Peugeot 108, Skoda Citigo, Seat Mii and Kia Picanto.

2014 Toyota Hilux Invincible Review | A Good Used Buy?
Guessing this is an older video but just up loaded? - I don't see many Aygo Xs around....still see loads of older Aygos. I think the picanto beats the pants off the Aygo X tbh.
You are correct
😢my dream car
It’s not a car
@buckleup_Mk2 I'm that desperate...
The MG doesn't have anything like a 7 year warranty. Virtually NOTHING is covered beyond 24 months. Buyer beware.
How they operate their warranty is at their discretion, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have one for 7 years.
Thanks for all info on both your own and this vehicle We have now ordered a hybrid for early April
Nice, let us know how you get on!
Suggesting someone is an odd shape is not acceptable. Have you any idea what that might do? Thankfully she hasn't seen your response, because if she had it possibly would have sent her straight back to tell hospital where she was treated for anorexia. So maybe I suggest you think carefully before calling someone an odd shape.
You seem to have assigned my response a lot of unintended malice, it was simply a humourous attempt at ascertaining if there was a specific need that wasn't being met. As you can see from the video I am more than amply proportioned and I find the seats comfortable for long journeys, my guess is your daughter needs more or higher quality support (the extra support provided to me by my fat backside being of the highest of quality of course). As they've already bought the car I know these suggestions are a little late but they're worth keeping in mind. The Honda Jazz has high density foam seats which over excellent comfort. Many smaller stellantis product (Peugeot, Citroen, Vauxhall, Fiat, Jeep) are available with massaging front seats as are some VWs (I don't think the polo is though). To help with the car as it sits maybe some padded gel seat covered could be of use, especially if they incorporate adjustable lumbar support. The idea of the channel is to be entertaining (i.e funny) and also informative. My apologies that my attempt at one half of that didn't work for you, hopefully this comment is at least a little helpful.
Why is it that you can disparage others that don't agree with you yet they don't get the right to challenge the comments?
Everyone is welcome to respond back and to express their own opinion, but we're all adults and I am also free to express mine
Great current review for uk buyers! It has its no nonsense, price conscious but quality focus market.
Also Dacia have a surprisingly strong showing on reliability surveys
My friend in Italy has one. It didn't seem bad at all. Only complaint from what I've seen is the headlights. They didn't reach very far forward at night. Which is not good for driving around at night.
The low beams are led and very good, the high beams are halogen and while they're not as bright or as far reaching as modern led highs they also don't blind everyone else on the road, it's a good compromise
We have this car right now, Ours is red and its working perfectly since 2016, we love it😍
That's great to hear
My daughter has had hers less than a month the and she's already regretting her decision to get it. She tells me it's the most uncomfortable car she's ever driven. I'll add, it wasn't her choice of car in the first instance as her partner chose it. She said it wasn't instinctively adaptable to her seating position and the lane assist is driving her mad as it perks the car.
Is she an odd shape? While the Jogger is no Rolls Royce I have done over 30k miles in one and it's a long way from being uncomfortable
I find the plastics to be substandard... Dash, door ect... Fading and marks easily as well as the dash dropping under the clocks, which looks like it was glued in place. Also a very clunky gear change.
I've always been fascinated about people worrying about how the plastic feels in cars. I think I must be driving wrong 😂
I don't understand what you mean by the dash dropping under the clocks?
Have you thought of doing stand up comedy ?
We’re pretty consistently told we’re not funny in the comments, so probably not 😅
Toyota's commitment to sustainability shines through in the bZ4X's eco-friendly design and reduced carbon footprint.
That sounds like an AI sales pitch
I have it in the Middle East for around 3.5k second hand
The weather is probably better where you are so I guess the doors aren’t necessary
@ wdym?
Because it’s hot where you are, you won’t need the doors on
I have the 2012 manual 4wd model in NZ, these are gonna outlive the later ones.
They might outlive their owners too
1. Rob has good legs too (let’s make him uncomfortable) 😂 2. The accord estate is NEVER coming back
1. You have successfully made Rob uncomfortable 😂 2. But we can’t help hope!
No ABS . Widow maker
Proper car
Got my MG4 77kwh Essence here in Australia in May and have driven from Melbourne to Brisbane and back (5,000+km) no problem. A real comfortable, easy drive.
Glad to hear it’s working out for you
How’s the firmware and aftersales going? I am considering this car as it had a massive price drop in NZ.
I don't own the car, but we haven't heard any horror stories
mpg?
During my time driving it I got around 35 mpg
After the first drive, it’s clear the bZ4X is a winner. Toyota’s electric SUV offers power, efficiency, and an amazing driving experience. Can’t wait to see more on this model.
Do you work for Toyota?
Thats exec car money 2 Suzuki swifts and they will do 400 miles on a tank. To be fair by the time its drpreciated in 2 yesrs it might be a bit of a used bargain as the ev market moves so quickly there will be better new .models around then, whats tge efficiency like?
It’s actually extremely reasonably priced if you look at how much new cars cost these days
@buckleup_Mk2 I know how much EV manufacturers hope to charge for their products I just think we should be at price parity by now and for a car of this class it's mid to late 20s.
It is late 20s if you get the lesser battery models
@buckleup_Mk2 Aye well for £15.5k I can get a very adequate swift that will do a 400mike journey at 60 mpg £10k buys a lot of petrol.
A new Swift starts from £19,199 and is a full size class below. The MG4 is in the class above and more on par with a Golf which starts at £27,760. That’s price parity.
What a pair of TW….TS
There are 3 of us, so which one isn’t a twat?
I have the long range, love it, but have noticed a noticeable noise between 65 and 70 - anyone had anything similar?
I haven’t noticed it and I’ve been in an MG4 quite a few times. Perhaps another owner can help?
But still not a LHD? I hate RHD!! 💀
It’s a British car
Interesting how things differ between countries on the same vehicle... in Australia my 77 Long Range was AUD 49,950 drive away with metallic paint (just over 25,000 GBP) and has a 10 year 250,000 km warranty.
Well you guys don’t have any tariffs like we do
@@buckleup_Mk2 probably because we don't manufacturer anything local anymore hahaha
The UK list price is not the normal purchase price for anyone looking around. At the moment in the UK you can get an instance discount of £4692 for having been a member of the MG Owners Club for the last 3 months and another £1000 for booking a test drive. Even larger discounts are possible from outlets that are trying to shift the volumes that have agreed with MG.
Lane keep assist is horrific and borderline dangerous.
It has got better, but it’s far from the best system out there
Ive not suffered from this, for me LKA is not great but not dangerous either. But you’re comment is fair as it has been widely reported as a significant problem for many. I think it depends on the version of control unit/software that your car is running with (not to be confused with the infotainment software). Later cars like mine do seem to be a lot better.
The later software updates installed at the our 1st service made it much better. That said they also made it much easier to turn off, which is what I do
I like this car with one exception it doesn't have full one pedal driving. Get that sorted MG and you would have my custom. Certainly at less than £26k brand new its an absolute steal.
Yes it does ... the original build didn't, but everything built from mid-2023 onwards includes OPD. (I agree that it defaults OPD to off so you have to turn it on every drive if you want it). Disclosure - I have an early MG4 SE SR, one of the batch that came with rear privacy glass, and mine doesn't have OPD. Later ones do.
Looks like someone’s answered that for you
But it does have one pedal driving.
@@Mark_my_words_YT I stand corrected, when we test drove one it was not available but apparently the refreshed version sorted that. I will have to take another test drive.
Got my ER back in March and it’s great …
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it
@@buckleup_Mk2 did long trips in it, no issues at all charging is great and as expected. Anyone reading this can be assurred of a bloody great value EV with some oomph to it, Going to germany next Jan so will see how it does there !
Agreed, had mine a year. Love the extra range and more powerful motor that this variant offers.
@@Mark_my_words_YT the motor was the reason I went for it but in my company car scheme the Trophy two were the same level in cost so no brainer anyway
People will pay £17-20,000 for a new car (or used car), so the price of this MG automatically debars millions of people. Still too expensive; £10k cheaper and I'd consider it.
Anyone would be stupid to by outright new, for a lease deal or PCP thius is unbeatable
It’s 2024, Steve. There are only about 5 new cars for sale at less than £20k.
@@buckleup_Mk2 including ICE ... and most new cars are leases/PCP which makes owning a new car pretty cheap now
Very pleased with my MG4 trophy long range which I have had for 2 years Bit disappointed with the depreciation though.
Depreciation is because they’ve overpriced it for the UK market, and now used examples have gone down to £15-16k, its true value. But what if I told you that in Australia, the same car (Excite 51/SE Std Range) cost as low as AUD$30,990 driveway (£15.5k) brand new with a 10 year warranty, standard reverse camera from factory. There’s barely any used examples selling much lower than this.
I bet.
@@User-cb4jmSE is not the same car, it’s the cheapest model with smallest battery
AND it looks like something my grandma would drive. it is indeed, THE sportiest car in the world.
Unquestionably
