Jesus the 90’s here were tacky; the “grunge aesthetic” coming out of England is laughable, but what a plastic nonsense fabrication all these people are. Reed, while being very very different, reminds me of Sir Roger Scruton in how they must have viewed the shift in culture. Would have been a great combo between the two; very uncanny here, like a man locked in a bad dream, yet completely cognizant of the fact that none of it matters, and he does not in fact have to play along. Hard to watch, and very cringe inducing purely based off the other participants, but the adversary figure of Reed here stands well above anyone else present. They can’t take that from you, me, or anyone else….they will work tirelessly to, but that is yours to waste, or yours to maintain, or yours to grow, but the only victory that truly matters, is not sacrificing worth for the admiration and approval of those having none. Trans valuation of values….can go fuck itself. If anyone hasn’t seen The Devils, one of the greatest acting roles in cinema, highly recommend anyone check out Reed’s performance in it.
