Great insight Delphine! I was recently at a get together with old friends/acquaintances I hadn't seen in years. Although I had a great time, I was still "in my head" most of the time because I cared too much about their approval. Definitely won't make that same mistake in the future. By relying on others' approval for our self-esteem, we're enslaving ourselves to their opinions and emotions. Life's too short to be a slave 👍

Also yes it is very useful to understand your own type so that you may find your polarity type. Delphine.. this makes me feel so much better. I need to get more confidence! I am on the overweight side I have lost 90 pounds and need about 15 more to go to feel more comfortable but with all the weight I have lost I do have loose skin and look "weird" for people my age. I have always told myself I was undateable due to being bullied, my dating experiences, and the media. But, this video is a reminder that no matter what I look like or where I am in life I am dateable. I look around and see so many people of different shapes sizes and backgrounds in relationships so if it can happen to them it can happen to me as well.

I think this would be good advice if we lived in the 1990’s. There is a reason that most young men these days are single. Women are just not interested us. Lots of us are completely undateable. Working on yourself is probably a good idea but doing it with the aim to find a relationship is just rejection but with extra steps.

Id be interested in your thoughts. Im a 33 yr old guy from UK, I work in Wildlife Conservation and I have a masters degree. Im also an introvert, I dont have much confidence and ive struggled to find a relationship my whole life even tho i want one. I tried my best for 15 years and ive had 10 dates in total in the time, but every single time the woman says "im a nice guy, but I dont feel a spark". I never get a second date. Ive basically given up on finding love even tho I still want it, becauae no woman has ever wanted me or find me attractive even tho I do my best to be a good man, I will be single forever, im undatable. healthy relationships are boring and reciprocal, unhealthy relationships are dramatic and one-sided. if someone is treating you abnormally well or abnormally poorly you should be suspicious. cancelling plans and/or asking for favors are good tests as unhealthy people are pretty inflexible and won't deal well with being rejected or put upon.

I think there's not a lot of matchmaking, because people don't know single Christian men or women to suggest to the other! But I know you said it's a tangent at the end there, but I'd love to hear more of your thoughts on attraction! I find that really difficult to determine myself, unless I get to know someone and have a strong emotional connection with them (I think this is called demiromantic/demisexual). So, I fall into this weird place of where I find out a Christian guy might be single and maybe make effort to try to get to know him better, but I also don't want to lead him on, since I don't know if I actually will be attracted to him.

Then again, you might argue that at the end of the day, any choice we make changes the path we tread and whose roads it'll cross. Btw it's definitely a recurring issue for enduring singles that their friends who are appaired struggle to empathize with how hard it can be to not have someone by your side, because it often just happened to them rather than being the result of a committed search. I was raised in the church but struggle to call myself a believer due to the bureaucratic history of the religion. I think there is immense value in religious teachings morally regardless. I really wish people in general put as much thought into this as you have. I believe that waiting until marriage for sexual intimacy is the best decision for a long lasting relationship, but I strongly disagree with most typical Christian reasons for doing so. A fear of God and going to hell creates a taboo around sex which prevents many of these couples from talking about sex before they are married (something absolutely necessary if you're going to wait) and sometimes carries over to become an issue within the marriage as well (purity culture shame/deadbedrooms). Religious circles are also filled with young couples getting married quickly because they prayed and "God told them this is the one" when in reality many are just filled with lust and have not taken nearly enough time to get to know each other before pulling the trigger. I watched in real time how this can turn out poorly through my older sister's marriage and divorce. On the secular side people often try and warn against waiting, but I believe that when both people are committed to being the best partner they can be for the other person then sexual compatability is mostly a myth. Physical intimacy can have infinite forms so unless you are stricly incompatible from a sexuality or baseline physical attraction point I think most issues of sexual compatibility are actually just issues of unwillingness to communicate/improve/compromise on the side of one partner or both. I find myself in this position where I have preferences that are most likely to be shared by a religious person, but know I am not equally yoked. At times I consider going back to church and just pretending to believe it all so that I can find a person with similar enough values to marry, but doing so would be incredibly deceitful and I can hardly imagine a solid foundation for building a life partnership. I also can't just date around until I find a virgin because my reasons for waiting are barely related to being a virgin itself. I'm 24 now and I'm sure there are women out there with values that match mine, but it seems impossible that we would ever meet. I live in America where even the religious people barely wait until marriage. Add to that that I live in a relatively small town where there is hardly anyone in my age range that I have not already met and it really starts to feel impossible. I dated people before who didn't have the same values and it ended really poorly so I told myself that I wouldn't do that again, but now it's been over five years and there is just no one to even try with. Perhaps the worst part is that I am "blessed" to be incredibly comfortable alone, so I dont even have the motivator of loneliness to force me to lower my "standards". I never pictured my life without getting married but I don't see a path forward that realistically leads to that.

I really want kids and to start a family! It saddens me that most people in the modern world have disregarded their families and starting one of their own. I used to also be of this opinion making all kinds of excuses such as I can't afford it or what not but ever since I had a perspective shift by becoming closer with God, I realise whats more important to me. I pray I can find an equally faithful Christian wife. I don't care if I have to lower my standard of living or make sacrifices for my wife and children because its so worth it in the end
