Hi all, Beemerider Travels @Beemerider on RUclips is my newly rebranded channel. I decided to start documenting some of my new adventures after a recent heart attack. Life is short, so I plan to do my best to live it and when possible share my travels with Family, Friends and if people find it interesting, Subscribers. Whenever possible,I ride a BMW F800GS of my own or rent a motorcycle when it makes sense where ever I happen to be. I hope you come along and enjoy while I travel and and hopefully find interesting compositions to photograph. I love to take amateur photos, go on adventures alone and with friends and I look forward to seeing the world a little bit at a time. Oh and once in a while I'll look at gear and talk about it. And you never know, once in a while I might talk a little bit about what pays the mortgage. Thanks for stopping by. Please have a watch, like and subscribe.

Beemerider Travels Adventure #1 Intro
Correction at 3:58. The Onward has 335 staterooms, not just 278. They have 44 suites, 203 verandas, 67 oceanview, and 38 inside cabins.
Ya, there were conflicting sources when I looked. thanks for the update. and thanks for watching
Firstly, loved your Azamara Onward Diary. Really good watch. We went on Onward 18 months ago and had many negative issues that still seem to be issues. Saying that it looked like a great small ship cruise. We really want to try Holland America and Explora Journeys. Looking forward to seeing your channel.
Amazing! Thank you so much for watching. we hope to plan another cruise soon to document. Until then we have a few other episodes coming.
Honest review! Very nice.
Thank you! We do our best to just show everything without giving too much of an opinion. Hopefully it lets others decide what they think based on what they see. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. We hope you can check out our other content on the channel.
Just stumbled on your video from researching Azamara for a cruise next year. Great quality editing and good content. Fellow rider too but my 1400 Concours got written off last year by an elderly driver that thought it would make a good speedbump for her SUV.
Goodness no! I hope you have an opportunity to replace your ride. Thank you for the kind comments and I'm glad you enjoyed. Hopefully you will get a chance to see some of our other videos. Thank you so much for watching! Keep the rubber on the road.
Turn that "music" down or dump it altogether...can't hear what you say.
noted thanks for watching
Looks great, and fun!!!
Yes a great day for sure! thank you for watching and commenting !
Love your humor. “He’s the only one who wasn’t drinking on the plane” is a classic that I will proudly steal from you and use myself.
Fantastic!. I'm looking at organizing another boys trip so hopefully, I'll have more fun excursions like these were. thank you again so much for watching. Hope you get a chance to go back a little and see some of the older videos. the Ireland stuff is fun and you can see how I got started with telling my stories and how it's changed.
Another great video with wonderful music. Keep it up, please!
Wow, thanks you again! I'm just about to release our nest video. it's shorter but I feel like the quality is going up. Hope to have it out in the coming week.
So glad you enjoyed your trip to the Tower. I enjoyed your video and the care you always put into the music background. New subscriber!
Amazing! yes that was absolutely a bucket list visit for me. I hope to go back on motorcycle one day and ride the whole area. And thanks for the subscribe. It really means a lot. Please feel free to share we could use the help getting over that subscriber hump!
A GREAT JOB! I really enjoyed the variety of background music you used. Too many RUclips cruise videos use boring elevator music set on a 20 second loop. Not you! Thanks.
Hey thank you for the kind comment! I'm super glad you appreciate the music edits. I do spend time making selections and trying to match each moment. Thank you for watching!
Very nice video. I have been looking at Azamara and this helps provide a balanced perspective.
Great to hear! I really hope it does help. We tried very hard to not really give an opinion and let the video be a sample that allows others to decide for them selves. It really is a pretty accurate sampling. thanks for watching. don't forget to like and subscribe and if you are considering a booking. I have a code near the top of our comments that if you put your email in Azamara will keep it on file. and if you in the future actually book a cruise with the same email, it should mean they send you / and us a $200 gift card.
I swaer this ship is the basis for the show Dr. Odyssey
ha! not really but I see it. Thanks for watching!
Good video edit! The srping water still runs at Pompeii from Roman times? The first time I had limoncello it almost knocked me out-stronger than i was expecting. I'm not into crowds! I'm a micro brew guy-that beer menu would leave me wanting!
Hey thanks! Yes as I understand the water in that area is the same source. I should have snapped shots of the better bar menu. I believe they did have a much better selection if you got the Booze package upgrade. But yes I agree their base drinks for beer was not great and I would expect a slightly bigger variety. Thank for the comment and the watch!
❤
Nice honest balanced review😊
Hey Thank you for the kind comment. And thanks for watching!

Trieste didn't look very busy and multiple closed-down shops could be caught momentarily in the video. Looks like Trieste got hit the same way other European and UK cities did by the extended lockdowns (as intended by EU and UN).
I have just returned from Trieste. These remarks are not true. The shops and restaurants are very busy.
I suppose it looks that way from the editing. I chose to not include a lot of the busier core of the city in our edit. So it sure can look less busy. But it really was a vibrant town and the Business area was very busy with lots of traffic and stores. Thanks for the comment and I'll make sure to try and show all aspects for our next video. Hope you enjoyed it.
Agreed, I think we just did not do a good job of showing the busy areas. thanks for commenting
Very beautiful! And killer work!!! One day I must go!
Awe thanks it's all the open title music I swear. Makes the whole video work! Thanks you for watching and commenting!
This is a well made video that gives a good representation of the Azamara cruise experience. I have cruised with them 10 times in the last decade (on all their ships more than once), therefore pre Covid and pre sell off by Royal Caribbean and also post covid. RC did not simply kick Az off their computer system; there was a two year notice period. Az simply failed to sufficiently prepare, and the customer service experience has been appalling. Also, to control costs, there are many small luxuries that have disappeared from the ships and changes made that a new cruiser would not be aware of. Lobster gone from the menu, feature late night buffet cancelled, Azamazing evenings now mainly held on board, massive increase in costs of additions (like drinks packages), fresh flowers gone, visiting entertainers mainly gone, and lots more. There have been senior management changes and the current ones have promised to restore some of these features. Another important point is that although the ships are comfortable, maintained and generally do not feel crowded (credit to the original design) they are 25 years old and it shows. The bathrooms are famously tiny and there is nothing that can be done about it. The decor uses quite a lot of dark wood that feels a bit like a country club but has no bling factor at all. There are too often problems with the drainage systems. They are painting over the rust, but it is still there. On the positive side, the service on board has always been very good, the food is usually good and there is a well planned range of itineraries. The decision years ago to remove the casino and create The Den was very positive. If Azamara can improve their customer service issues (and from very recent experience there is quite a way to go with that) then the future of the brand will depend on replacement ships. Are the new owners interested in that, or just going to sweat the existing old assets? We are booked again next year, but if improvement is not there we will focus on Celebrity and Viking.
I am a ta with 60 cruises under my belt. I do nit suggest taking the train to civitavecchia. Too much schlepping if luggage only and off the train and the bus. Spend the bucks and take a car to the port.
This is true. and 60 cruises! Wow! Nat and I packed light with a back pack carry on and a personal bag each so not a lot of schlepping for us but yes if you had a lot of luggage it may be challenging. Thanks for watching commenting! Hope you enjoyed and safe travels
Great video, living in the UK the destinations are all familiar to us. The benfit of the video is the information on Azamara. Looks impressive.
Glad you found it informative! and that's a good point about the destinations. We are still working on our format but I think it's starting to get to a happy place. Thanks for watching !!!
Great video! Thanks!
Amazing! Thank you for watching!
Glad to see Eric is still with Azamara. He hosted a group of us for cocktails and dinner one night during a cruise from India in 2016. I'm returning after seven years hiatus to sail on Azamara Pursuit later this year.
Yes, Eric seemed like a great guy. I think however, he is no longer the CD but not sure where he ended up. Enjoy your cruise and thanks for watching!
Thank you for making our friends special trip even more special! We did enjoy talking with you and being part of your adventure. And, Devils Tower was my favorite stop on our trip.
OMG! how amazing! I hope your travels were successful. It was tons of fun talking to ya'll. So happy you managed to see this! thanks for watching. Safe travels and I hope you check out our other travels.
Wow - breathtaking shots - one day i have to get there and would travel with you and Nathalie in a heartbeat
Awe, thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed

John & Nat-what a great video! Well presented and informative. Can't wait till we board the Onward next September 2025 !! Thanks again.
Thanks for the fantastic comment. We really appreciate you taking the time and watching our video. Don't forget to like and subscribe if you haven't yet. And please share with anyone you think might appreciate it. Hope you have a wonderful cruise!
Great video! We did the world voyage this year (I was the onboard art instructor). Loved every one of our 155 days onboard. They did change the shower curtains to bamboo. Much better. Watching this made me want to get back on the ship 🙌❤️
155 days! wow, that must have been an adventure. And that's great to hear about the curtains. Thanks for this great comment. We are so happy to hear that others find it helpful and inspiring. Thanks for watching and hopefully sharing ;)
Beautiful, professional, and great story telling that has us wanting to give Azamara a try!
Well that is wonderful to hear. We did indeed enjoy the experience. Thanks for the great comment and if you do try them we hope you find it to be as refreshing as we did.
Nicely done vid, thanks for sharing.
Thank you for commenting and watching! we hope to share more soon.
Lovely video very nicely put together. Thank you. We are big fans of Azamara. All in all a terrific cruise line. Look forward to seeing more of your vids.
Azamazing!!! thank you so much for watching, we are very happy with how well it is doing. I'm busy working on our next one now. fingers crossed I'll have it done soon.
Enjoyed watching your video. Well done … Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!!! thank you so much for watching. And for commenting. We are happy that it turned out so well. Stay tuned, more videos to come. and if you haven't had a chance, check out the channel.
New subscriber, enjoyed your review and storytelling in your video. Great job!
amazing! thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment. we love that the video is coming across as we intended and not just another trip video. Thanks for subscribing we hope to have the next video out soon.
Recently picked up the 30L Overlander bag. Got confused on what/how straps connect to the bike, but Lonerider has the vids for that too. Still in the process on which method to attach the bag, horizontally or vertically on the bike rack. Rode with it yesterday without my hard side cases and it was quite liberating. For scooting around town I will use the bag. If I do long trips I will use both the hard cases and the Overlander. Quality bag. Get one. I have the security strap on order.
glad you are enjoying it. I actually had my larger bag loose it purge valve this weekend. just popped out of the hole. Time to test their warranty. Safe riding!
Nice work overall with the balance of the itinerary destinations and ship coverage. When was this trip actually since at the 28:17 mark there is a subtitle about the line being in ownership transition which actually occurred in 2021 and the Onward was added after that around May 2022. We had an exceptional experience on the Quest in Nov 22 and found none of the adjustment issues also purported by others especially following Covid.and return to sailings. Looking forward to more of your cruise adventures!
the actual tradition of ownership came into effect in 2023 and from what I understand, on the specific day that the transfer took effect, the Royal Caribbean original parent co. basically switched off the web site and all of the info about every booking following that date went into the ether. that's the basic understanding we have. anyway, the cruise was End of Sept into October 2023. Thank you for watching! and safe travels!
@@Beemerider the lost bookings sound like an absolute disaster. Did not know that. I trust everything is better and back to normal now.
@@Beemerider that is not the case. Azamara were sold by RC during the pandemic for a cut down price. Many office staff chose to stay with RC, and Az made a complete mess of their new IT platform. Old bookings and loyalty points were lost. New web site did not offer many needed features (just try selecting a specific cabin on a new booking - it’s not possible on line). Phone response became almost non existent, although it has now improved. And getting errors corrected is a nightmare. Even this year they took 4 months to process a refund after they cancelled my cruise.
@@terencedarby8905 It sure was/has been a mess.
@@Beemerider point is that your video was about the on board cruise experience, but not the overall experience. I have needed to spend more time sorting out admin with Az than the actual time spent on the cruise itself. Az are still advised as a cruise NOT to book simply because of the customer service experience. A real shame.
Well done, John and better half! Really enjoyed watching.
I would NEVER travel on Azamara again. We went on an Azamara ship pre Covid and had already booked another when Covid hit so the cruise got cancelled and we got a refund an a future cruise credit. Azamara was then sold. We booked to go this year and received notification that we had the cruise credit and a promotion giving us $300 shore excursion credit, free Wi Fi and enhanced drinks package. When we tried to book a shore excursion through our travel agent we were told we only had the $300 dollar on board but nothing else even though we had it in writing. We cancelled the cruise and have written twice to Azamara to complain but have heard nothing.
Yes that's totally unfortunate. The issues I talk about near the end were from the same time I think. And to this date, we still have not been recognized for our previous status on Royal Caribbean/ Celebrity. We were told that our status would move across to Azamara after the sale. however one that was done, they simply just never responded and calling would only connect with a person that has no control over that. Like I said, there were and could still be issues however. once we were on the ship. we did have a lovely time overall. Thanks for the comment and good luck wit future travels.
Thank you for your reply. We still have heard nothing from Azamara. It is this arrogance and lack of customer care that made us so angry.. Hope your next travel experience is more positive. Loved the vlog.
What a great vid! Looks like such an amazing trip :D
Fantastic thank you for watching and commenting! feel free to share as always ;)
People considering Azamara, note that when you sign up for a tour through the ship ask if you will join other groups. Part of the advantage of small ship cruising is not be treated like cattle. It is a shame when you take the small bus to join the lager bus. You lose some of the magic of small ship cruising.
I agree with what you are saying for sure. I had not actually considered that the larger bus might be multiple tour groups. I assumed we were all from the ship and in this case, I think it was all from the ship. I think it was the general busy nature of the attraction that we found was the situation at every attraction in Italy. Good point though it may be worth asking how many are on the excursion etc. Thanks so much for watching
@@Beemerider I suspect that the new owners made the change. The new owners are a private equity firm. I have only once ever did a "cruiseline" tour, and it was because you could not get off the ship otherwise. But usually I hear from other passengers on small ship cruise lines that the group size is small and they complain when they are merged. I normally do my own thing in port. It is a well done video. I am considering an ocean crossing on the Azamara Onward and wanted an updated perspective. Thanks for the great video. I have not been on this boat since Azamara bought it. I have been on it, when it was the Pacific Princess. I took it from Los Angeles to Sydney. If like small ships, try some of the other brands. I think right now Azamara is the best value in this segment.
@@msears101 Amazing. I'm glad it helped and you enjoyed. I think they really are trying, and the stafff is great. I think the issue is the customer service before and after if there are still issues. I hope they can get those last few things banged out because you are right. Best Bang for the buck in this sector for sure. All the best and please share thanks!
Fantastic ! Love the smaller ship experience. Thought I’d never take a cruise but this looks amazing !! Thanks for sharing ❤
Thankyou Glad you enjoyed. be sure to share for us!
We prefer smaller ships so IF you are to compare Azamara and Celebrity is the price difference worth it and what is your preference - reason for asking is that service is rumoured to go down on Azamara after Covid - keep up the good work
Our Celebrity cruise was in 2018 so not really a fair cost comparison. However I can say that our cruise for the 2 of us was under 6k CAD. (almost exactly the same we paid for the cruise on Reflection in 2018. this included $900 USD of OBC. That said, I don't believe you could book the same Azamara cruise or any cruise for the same rates as when we booked a year and a half ago. Overall, I feel that celebrity cruise was impressive for us since it was our first cruise and we felt the specialty dining was better at that time on celebrity. The Azamara food was all Good to very good with a reasonable selection. If you are vegetarian I would hands down suggest Azamara. Very different experiences though and we much prefer the Azamara feel with the lack of lines and waiting. Hope this helps
@@Beemerider Thank You so much for your informative reply - highly appreciated ! keep up the good work ;)
We were part of the World Voyage group cruising on the Azamara Onward. We left Fort Lauderdale 1/5/2024 and ended our trip in Barcelona 6/9/2024. It was a fabulous experience on a wonderful ship. Sure, there are always a few pre-trip bumps, but once you board the ship, you can relax and enjoy the experience. One of the strengths of Azamara are the crew members. Crew members are treated well and work hard to ensure you have a good travel experience. At the end of a long day off the ship, it is wonderful to be greeted with "welcome home" when you return. This was our first Azamara trip, and we have already booked another trip in 2025!
That cruise sounds amazing. And you are right. there are always little things but as an overall. this cruise line really is a hidden gem. Thanks so much for watching. Safe Travels!
Hi John. A friend from Munster just shared your link. Can I post and use - I work for Azamara.
Amazing! My home town. And yes, I can't see a reason why you shouldn't share it. I hope you enjoyed it! share away! We are really hoping to grab new subscribers.
I should add the music is only licensed for my channel so sharing the link would probably be the only method for the time being. thanks again
@@Beemerider Are you no longer in Munster? I will share - curious what is your background - are you working in travel or just a hobby youtuber?
@@margaritapeloso3337 Hi again, I was raised in Munster. and visit Family there often. In fact will be very soon if you are a Munsterite. I am in Audio Post production. So basically I do sound for TV shows like Master Chef Canada, all the Holmes Family construction shows etc. Basically, lifestyle programming for Canadian and US networks. So yes I have a background. I/we have done the RUclips thing as a way for our aging parents (and Friends, and now a couple subscribers) to have a way to experience our travels. And it is a fun Hobby. Ideally, we would like to grow our viewership so we can monetize to travel more and make more videos. This video has been doing well. fingers crossed we can keep it up. I'm cutting the next episode now which picks up in Venice. Nathalie was ill so I Basically spent a couple days walking around doing demos for Travel Photography so hopefully our viewers will learn something. ;) If you have a chance to dig into the channel, the Ireland 13 episodes was my first real story telling stuff and explains how it all started after recovering from a heart attack during the Pandemic. Anyway, I'm happy you are interested. I'd love to hear more about what you do for the Cruiseline. If you are able to, feel free to reach out to my email address on the channel to keep personal stuff to a min.
Really interesting video, thank you 😊
So nice of you. Thanks for watching!
I really love it!
Yay, thank you!
Fabulous trip. Enjoyed watching.
Thanks so much!!! I hope this video goes over well.
I need one but they are to expensive for my wallet :(
Yes it can be pricy stuff but my experience in the world of motorcycling is you get what you pay for. Kinda like my saying of the better the kit/gear you buy, the further you can slide down the highway. Anyway make sure you sign up for their monthly contests. I'm proof that anyone could win . Thanks for watching be sure to like and subscribe and check out my travel videos. New stuff coming soon.
@@Beemerider yeah man I agree with you! I’m a sucker for proper gear so that doesn’t make choices like this easier haha. My current situation just doesn’t allow it. I dreamt of trying solo camping on the motorcycle so that is what I’m set out to do. But I need to figure something out for total of 400/500 euro including camping gear. And it’s possible, just not at a premium. I’ll probably start with some Rhinowalk gear and in the meantime I will stick to the give aways from Lone Rider! Congrats with yours and I hope you have fun with it!🙏
Enjoying the video footage and especially those photographs. Excellent! Pity about the drone. But a word of advice - it's "DERRY" and not L*****Derry - can be irritating to us Irish ;-) (Sort of like calling an American a Canadian and vice-versa). The thing about Ireland is that you can do soooo much in a day on a motorcycle and visit loads of places. Unlike the USA where everywhere is hundreds (or thousands) of miles away. Our touring group travel all over Ireland and can be back home after each day trip.
Thanks so much for the kind words and the info. I sure did love riding there. My wife and I are thinking of coming back some day. Thanks so much for watching I hope you enjoy them all. be sure to hit the thumbs up on each one and I have new content coming soon.
@@Beemerider Looking forward to watching all the current series and the new content too. I've Subscribed and thumbs up on each. We just need the weather in Ireland to be good and it would be the best country to ride - variation in scenery, fantastic history & culture, friendly people, good food and lovely roads.
Hi there, thanks for the video! it gives a good look of the bag. I've a question about it. When it's mounted on the back of your bike, can you still open your side panniers? or do you need to take of the bag before you can open it? I have a F850gs an am looking for a bag on the back besides the side panniers. that's why I ask :). Thanks in advance!
Hi, So the 30L for sure you can open them on my 800. I'm using Jessie Panniers and they hinge open outwards and there is no problem opening. The 45L does make contact but usually I'm able to just lift the bag a tad and the hard case can open without issues. The 45 is much more useful for long trips I keep camera gear and my clothes etc. and use the hard panniers for my camping gear. I am finding and the smaller one is great for day trips etc. Hope that helps and let me know if you have any other questions. I usually check in every week or so. Thanks for watching! Keep the rubber on the road.
@@Beemerider thanks for the info! Do you have a special plate where the bag is placed on? Or is the original from BMW big enough?
@@joyn8 It's the original plate but it was raised up as a result of mounting the Jessie side bags. So not stock but same Vario Case mount. I wanted to be able to keep my OEM Top case for the Wife to use as a seat back when she come for a ride with me.
