Goings on in and around Green Valley, AZ. Mostly wildlife around my house or that I see on my daily walks, but occasionally a storm or a fire or just a look at the scenery. Recently I have begun sharing my hobby of classic cars. I have been a car guy my entire life, and even now I have a couple of projects I am working on! Also, I am sharing some landscape projects that I am working with my neighbor Heinz at his house and mine.

More mule deer exhibiting some interesting behavior here in Green Valley, AZ 01192025
Yeah yeah, I know. How many deer can we look at, right? Well, they are beautiful, and that is one reason to observe at them. However, another reason to observe them is to see what they do! I put most of this video to some calm music to help soothe your mind and soul. Beautiful deer and calm music, how can you go wrong??? Anyhow, I hope you enjoy the video which allows you to see what mule deer do when they don't think anyone is watching! Oh yeah, as a special treat, you will see a javelina in close proximity to a mule deer. The interaction was quick, so I put it in slow motion for you. This is something that I have not seen before. Usually the deer keep to themselves as do the javelina. P...

Just think, my friend and painter Shannon was fighting for his life just 6 months ago (6/21/2024) after a horrific accident tore his pelvis in two. He was life-flighted to a hospital in Tucson where he underwent life-saving surgery. This surgery included installing a bunch of hardware to put his pelvis back together, and Shannon had a hard road ahead of him to recover from this incident. For th...

The whole thing about the javelina being on the naughty list is just in jest for the Christmas season. The javelina (including babies in this video) do what they do, and I am fine with that. I do wonder why they just started doing this bowl tipping thing in the past couple of months. I hope all of you and the javelina have a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!!! You may have wondered why I have not provided an update for a few months on the paint and body work on my 1969 Corvette that I was documenting. Well, the truth is that my friend and body/paint man, Shannon had a freak accident while water skiing at Patagonia lake on 6/21/2024 that nearly took his life. So, I am getting ready to take my 1969 Dodge Coronet to the classic car shop at Mr. Automotive here in Green Valley, AZ. I had backed out of the garage and turned around to head out the driveway. Mule deer is very beautiful and cute. Thank you for the very rare video this time. My reflection is probably Javelina happened to rush forward. I don't think he's charging in to attack the mule deer. The last sunset is also very beautiful.
Ayame, so good to hear from you! I am glad you liked the video. The mule deer really are quite beautiful! I agree with you that the javelina is just rushing to get past the deer. I do not see why a javelina would attack a mule deer. That was actually a sunrise, and I am glad you liked it! I really liked the reflection in the pool. That shot was from 1/7/2025, it was my sister's birthday and I sent this picture to her as a birthday gift.
Beautiful video! I really enjoy watching deer! That buck that appears several times throughout the video with the long tine on the left side is quite something! Maybe a little unicorn blood in him? I must say the quality of the video from your game camera is top drawer!
I guess you are right Cat Bird, a bit of a unicorn, that is a great way to look at it! I am glad you enjoyed the video! My favorites were the three small deer standing together looking in the same direction, and the 5 deer all getting a drink at the same time! This is the only type of game camera I have ever had and it really does provide some quality video! Thanks for watching and your comment!
Absolutely love these videos, I want a trail cam for my gate. I have water bowls out and get different birds, noticed some bunnies yesterday
You should get a camera for your gate Susan! It is a great hobby, and it is like Christmas every few days when I check the chip to see what has been captured. I think you would LOVE it! If you do it, I hope you post what you capture. I would love top see it!
Fellow Green Valley resident here to say I really like your videos!
Forgot to mention; I replaced your music, which sounds fine, with what I was listening to already, The Ginger Baker Trio's "Falling Off the Roof" album. Before that was TOOL's "Lateralis" album. I'm only sixty-five, practically wet-behind the ears compared to my neighbors, so I tend to lean towards hard rock/metal-infused prog-rock.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!!! I am glad you enjoy the videos.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!!! I am glad you enjoy the videos.
@ Ahh yes, Ginger Baker. One of the best drummers ever! I am near your age at 67. I too like rock, 80's music and several other kinds of music, but I do not care much for country or rap. I chose the music I did for the video as it was more appropriate for the subject matter. Maybe if I capture a couple of bucks fighting, I could go with something harder!
Cool video!! I am an avid birdwatcher as well as snake watcher, so I just loved watching your birds!! They are so beautiful!! What was the yellow bird that showed up with the Cardinal at 0:30?
Hey Cat Bird, thanks for watching! I think the yellow bird was a goldfinch. They are really pretty birds! I hope 2025 is treating you well so far!
Really enjoy your video's, so interesting
Thank you for taking the time to watch. I am glad you enjoy the videos and find them interesting!!!
he needs two cat trees!
Yep! That is a good sized racoon!!! See you all soon!!!
Is it me or is it too early for Cardinals? 🤔
If you look at the timestamp on the camera, the Cardinal video was back in July of 2024. I am just finally getting the chance to use the video now. Thanks for watching and your question!!!
Thanks for your clarification 👍
@@denniscrosthwaite25 Anytime Dennis! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment!
Thank you for the wonderful video, Bart. The images of bird baths in your garden are beautiful and soothing. I'm glad to see Lucy and Cha-Cha in good spirits too.
As always, I thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! I am glad you found the images to be beautiful and soothing. You will see more javelina soon. Some of them are being naughty and tipping over the water bowl several more times!!! I hope they will stop doing it as it leaves other animals without the water. I hope the New Year has started out well for you and that it will be wonderful all the way through!
Great video!! 👍👍
Thanks for watching Niko, glad you liked the video!!!
Absolutely Impressive!!!
Sorry about the late reply Bill, but thank you for watching and your comment! If you would ever like to visit, we have a casita you and Pam could use. I hope you all had a great Christmas and that you have a happy and healthy New Year!!!
Love these photos you put out
Glad you enjoy the videos Susan! Thanks for watching and your comment!!!
Love your photos
Absolutely beautiful!! I really enjoyed watching this! I could sit and watch deer all day! It is so nice to see them so quiet. We don’t allow any hunting on our ranch, so the animals have a refuge. So we have some fairly tame deer here, but they don’t come nearly as close as yours do! That one near the end got awfully close to your camera - have you ever had anything knock it over?
Hey Cat Bird! Thanks for watching and your comment! I am glad you enjoyed the video, I also love to watch the deer. My camera has been knocked down many times, but the main culprit is wind! It has only been knocked down once or twice by animals. Yeah, that last buck with the broken antler was really close to the camera, and nearly perfectly centered. It was like he was posing for me! Next time I see him, I will ask him if he needs an agent! I get the whole hunting thing, but for me, I am fortunate enough to not need to hunt for food. I am very happy to just watch while they live their lives. I am blessed to have so many mule deer and other animals show up on my cameras so I can share them with everyone. Happy New Year Cat Bird, I hope you had a fantastic Christmas!
Looking great Bart. Will it be ready when we visit? Would love a ride. Love from northern command.
Yep, it should be ready by then. Glad you like the way it is turning out!!! Love from southern command! Planning to call a bit later today.
Super
Thanks for watching and your comment Chili Dog!!! Happy New Year!

Yeah, it is really coming out nice! I too cannot wait to see it all back together! Thanks for watching and your comment Cat Bird!!!
I have seen this also, many times and I think he is looking for grubs.
That is an angle I had not considered! Thanks for watching and your comment!!!
Maybe it is time for a cement water bowl!😂 Actually, this appears to be very intelligent behavior!! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Please give Blaze some pets for me!
All I can say is that it is entertaining to see what the animals do when just the camera is watching! A Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you Cat Bird! Blaze can NEVER get enough pets, but I will give him some from you, and please do the same for you dog from me!
I hope you and your wife have Happy Christmas and keep the videos coming!
Thank you for the kind thoughts Larry! Yes, the videos will keep coming for sure. I wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for you and your family!!!
Hi Bart, they learned to spill water and make mud baths. They lie down looking very pleasant. The mud bath is a Christmas present from you to Javelina. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Yes, the javelina are smart creatures who know how to get what they want and need! I am glad they have found a way to make themselves happy with the mud bath! Thank you for watching and your comment Ayame! I also wish you a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
😂 yup. Mud bath
They really seem to love it! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you! Thanks for watching and your comment!
All they want for Christmas is a large mud puddle at your resort! As always, they are so darling! Thank you for making certain they -- and our other desert animals -- have access to water. 😊 👍 🐽 🎄
It is my pleasure to make the water available! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. A Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!!!
Thank you for the video, Bart. They are a very beautiful couple. They came to the best position near the camera and I could clearly see their beautiful fur.
Those deer are so beautiful, Bart!! I was amazed at the whiskers on the buck at around 5:15! What a special encounter! Thank you for sharing it with us!!
Very beautiful! Yes, the sun was behind that buck and it showed his whiskers perfectly. If you are interested, check out this video from way back. About 3:40 in you will see this mature buck with some kind of beard on his throat, and a younger buck just before that!!! Thanks for watching and your comment!!!
So beautiful! Thanks for sharing 👍 😊 🦌
So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for watching and your comment!!!
Those babies are so tiny! They must be newly hatched! I enjoyed the commentary from Blaze, although it was rather short in duration!
I am pretty sure those babies were not more than a couple of weeks old, if that. Yes, Blaze is a bit of a camera hog. He thinks he should constantly be the center of attention! Thanks for watching and your comment Cat Bird, much appreciated!!!
Thank you for the wonderful video, Bart. Cute babies visited your house. It's amazing that we were able to shoot this long time so close together. Javelina's babies are really cute. Watching them makes me feel very happy. My Javelina mother and child are also doing well.
I know you would like this video Ayame since you love the javelina and their babies so much! I am glad to hear that your mother and baby are doing well! I am watching a Japanese series called "You Light Up My Lion", are you familiar with this series? I really enjoy it! Thank you for watching the video and your kind comment!!!

@bartk85622 You're awesome. Thank you.
@@willswalkingwest7267 Very kind of you to say, but actually, that momma javelina is the awesome one! It is tough to keep two new babies alive and well in this desert environment with numerous predators!!! Thanks for watching and your very kind comment!!!

Another reason is because they attract mountain lions.
Javelina are definitely on the menu for the mountain lion. There have been some reports of a mountain lion in my neighborhood, but no one has any proof yet, but I still believe them! Thanks for watching and your comment!!!
Thanks for the update. I,m sure he’s glad to be working on it too!

Fancy Corvette wheels & tires!
Yeah, you like those? I know they are funny looking, but they are great in the shop and do not get in the way like full sized wheels and tires would. Just wait till you see the final result! I am pretty sure you will love it!!!
I doubt they’d last 10 feet into a burnout run. Poof! lol guffaw.
@@kittykat999a I think I would have to agree with you on that!!!
Very interesting video! The cooktop counter and oven look great! “Can’t do it” is not in your vocabulary!! You guys do great at everything you tackle!!
I am a pretty good assistant, but it is Heinz who has all the real talent. I have learned a lot from him. He is like the older brother I never had!!!
Firstly, this was terrible news about Shannon - please give him my best wishes for a speedy recovery. After major surgery like he had, it will be at least a year before he will feel normal again. I speak from experience. That does look like a’68 Cougar - my neighbor has one - but it is difficult to tell without the grill in place. Nice to see your Corvette is coming along - I am looking forward to seeing video of it in the car show January 25th!
Yes, it was terrible news regarding Shannon. I am so sorry that he had to go through all this pain and suffering, but I am extremely happy that he survived and has such a strong will to recover. You would think it would take longer to recover, but the amazing thing is that he is already back to work!!! He told me that squatting and doing work low to the ground is still a bit difficult for him, but he works at it every day. That Cougar is sweet! That black paint job is gorgeous! I am sure that will be one happy owner! I too am looking forward to finishing my car. The car show is a target. If we make it, we make it, if not I am not really concerned about it. I am just glad Shannon is still here and well enough to work on it!!!
Like! Beautiful
Thank you for your kind words, I am glad you like the results!!!

Very healthy looking family of coyotes!!
Yeah, they do look really good! Another viewer told me that they do not look like the coyote from northern Nevada. He seems to think they are hybrid. I am not sure if he means crossed with a dog or a wolf. Any thoughts? As always, thank you for taking the time to watch and comment Cat Bird!

Thank you for watching and your comment Mary! Don't give up on your husband. See if he might like to come and visit. I would be happy to answer any questions he might have or show you around the area if you do visit. My wife and I moved here from Oregon 10 years ago. I was still working and my wife had just retired, so I had her come to Green Valley a couple of times to check it out and look at possible houses. She was not sure she could leave the green of Oregon, but when she got here, she found out why they call it Green Valley. She took the gamble and we moved. Within just a few days of being here, she realized that she really liked waking to sunshine, and we have never looked back! If fact, we wish we had moved here earlier! We absolutely love it here.
