Nah dude knows his stuff. Solid video
@@grantbell8108 thanks man 🤙🏼
Very professional. Great job.
The flat drop stripper you have might be setup differently than the one I have... the one I have is a jonard and you open it feed the cable in from the bottom, close it and then pull the handle side with the cable coming out the bottom by the hinge. It looked like you did put the stripper on and did it the other way but I could be wrong they make a bunch of variations of tools.
@@beetle442002 it’s the same thing but more efficient. I start at the tip to the end then back. Been doing it for years it’s the most efficient.
From a construction tech view, where you did your mid span at the 3 bolt clamp, you placed a span clamp on the strand preform. Never place anything on that. Always just after it. It will rub thru it over time. It may be a picky tehnical point but it is a pet peave of mine.
@@billdougherty6611 I honestly hate doing it. A lot of times it’s the only place I can add clamps. Especially on corner transitions.
@FyBurz I get it. I did say it was a technical point but even though I am retired now, I still look up at the lines and it drives me nuts when I see some things. Otherwise your work was clean and in today's throw it up and call it perfect world, you should be proud.
@ appreciate that 🤙🏼
Awesome Video sir !!
I'm also an fiber Engineer but your work Commendable man keep it up bro
@@mohammedsajjad5356 thanks man much appreciated 🤙🏼
13:20 It's due to cost and points of failure. Adding NIDs was a good idea for FTTP not FTTH. Every tech says "but its for troubleshooting bruv" Which was a good mentallity to have in the copper times not fiber. We add NIDs only for repairs. We have to install a Fiber jack like the one you pointed at. Saves time and money.
I’ve seen worse than that (when our ISP leaves a cable dangling straight from the MPT and just leaves it)
In Winnipeg, Our fiber tubs are always like that even if it hadn’t rained in days it’ll still have water in it lol (we had an idea of drinking from it using a life straw)
you don't clean your fiber before you splice?
Normally I do, I was out of wipes when I did this. It’s not service affecting there’s no gel or anything like that. As long as the core is clean it’s all good. I definitely should clean but again it doesn’t really change anything the service works perfectly.
@FyBurz I must say as a tech and ex splicer it triggers me a bit hehe
@gabriellalande2249 yea I get it. I’m pretty ocd with stuff. But it genuinely doesn’t make a difference lol. I can visually see on the splicer if it’s dirty and If I’m working in a dusty or dirty environment I’ll make sure it’s clean. 😅
@ you know what they say.. as long as it works!
@@FyBurz I was wondering for wich provider do you do those drops?
The worst feeling, doing all that work, then check light for it to read LO
what size conduit fits into the NID. trying to prep for monday.

@FyBurz giant thanks. Running either 3/4 or 1.
Why have 2 extended ladder
@@Mobile-zw1dm one is bigger 😅
Who comes back through and splices into it? What type of ONT do you guys use? Do you ever have to hang bullets?
@@dogfood2461 the tech, I think Nokia ONTs. And bullets like for strand ?
FyBurz: 18:58 Ima just cut all these quads/cat5s cuz theyre useless Costumer: Hey. What happen to all my phone jacks? lmao Edited to ask: Do you just install drops? I do that AND inside work home phone/tv/internet you just ruined my day when cutting all those ISW's in the NID.
I’m usually pretty aware of Customer and install needs and I vet the properties before cutting cables. They had no home phones. I wrecked out the copper. Even if they needed to back feed signal for phone or data through the phone lines all the cables are still there.
you not safe, no safety belt life is a risk and i respect it
Damn those wires are messy up there. Just wondering if you guys don’t over lash them to the mainline?
Also the loops we usually do at least 4 loops and zip tied them just in case they change poles or shift the mainline up or down this reminds me of how AT&T do their work here in the US.
Just not how we do it 🤷🏻♂️ way too much work to lash every drop. It’s all done on demand not during the plant build.
Yea I’m not sure. Leaving slack makes sense but this is our protocol.
youre way too comfortable working around hydro lol. My health and safety rep would lose his mind if he seen me that close to hydro.
Just a hazard of the job. Not really avoidable. Our lines run under hydro it’s just a fact 🤷🏻♂️
This is genius. I’m going to copy this for my f150
Thanks, I think it works really well.
hello, no loop near the MST at the pole?
I know how expensive it is. But why not go the extra mile and do it underground? It's safer and more reliable.
I do it all 🤷🏻♂️ I can’t run a drop underground to a house that has aerial utility and vice versa. This area is all aerial. If the builder put a conduit to the pole I would have used that.
@FyBurz our power comes from a pole. Have a tech coming January 6th to install fiber. Supposedly they are going to dig a trench. In my town, ultilities put fiber underground.
Such a clean and detail-oriented installation! You even mentioned the slight RG45 slag wire leading to the Boost 6. Truly impressive attention to detail. Amazing work!
@@f.heravy thank you man much appreciated 🤙🏼
How long did it take to complete this job? How much do you get paid for it. Hourly or production?
@@Mobile-zw1dm umm probably under 2 hours. I don’t discuss rates. If you want to join our discord you might get some of the answers you’re looking for.
What type of blades do you use on the blue jonards drop stripper. Besides the cheap jonards blades? I use the mini utility blades. Stronger last longer and way cheaper than the original jonards blade replacement
@@Mobile-zw1dm honestly didn’t even know it could take other blades besides the jonard ones 😅
Hey bud, I’m about to start my first week in fiber drops and the guy training me has zero aerial in the area (Tampa) great for him but sucks for me as I am being sent to Indiana and in the winter no less lol. I’m super nervous but I know I can do this. Watching a professional at work is going to help me along! I gave you a like and a sub!
Nice dude you got this. Don’t stress take your time and hang those drops.
Means a lot for you to say that. Any tips for working in the snow that I should be aware of? I’m a Florida boy with 9 years field engineering for AT&T and Comcast. This Fiber I&R is for Frontier Communications and all the guys here are Sudanese so language barrier was a thing lol
@ just make sure your ladder has good footing!
@@FyBurz lol that’s advice for all seasons. Thanks
@ yea haha. Winter hazards can be tough to deal with. Just be aware and alert. And dress warm 😅
Some expensive string homie. No need for any special fish when you have easy access to both ends.
Not sure what you’re trying to say 😅
Shop vac with a bag on the end of a pull rope works perfect , it will suck any water in the pipe also ...
Yup a very good method I commonly use. Mainly on longer runs. Rodder is more efficient. And is easier to do on your own. I was prepping the conduit while my guy hung the drop.
Fish tape ?

Can't believe that there's almost no utility pole around yet you managed to get it done.

@FyBurz I mean the distance between poles is almost unbelievable
Oh yea, its pretty common here on private property. I’ve done 110m spans. But it’s at customer risk. Over manufactured spec

Why are you not cleaning the fiber with isopropyl alcohol prior to cleaving the fiber
Well I can only say that I have been splicing for over 30 year and to keep your splicer in good working order you should be cleaning your fiber prior to splicing
Definitely good advice.
Why are you not cleaning the fiber with isopropyl alcohol
I think I explain in the video I ran out of wipes. And also it doesn’t impact the fuse at all if the fibre was dirty I’d see it in the splicer. Alcohol is mainly for cleaning gel off loose tube fibre. This isn’t that.
