The last piece of Liszt was so beautiful, I have to find a recording of it.

I only knew a few, but one of them was the last one, because it's in Suzuki book 4. I'm learning it. Didn't expect that one.

3 is Alessandro Marcello's Oboe Concerto, that later was adapted by Bach for the keyboard. Bach did not make the oboe concerto, this is only Marcello's original work

6/15, not a good one for me.

12/15. I didn't know the Strauss or the Berlioz, and couldn't remember the composer of the Rachmaninov piano concerto although I recognised the music! Having lesser-known composers from time to time is a good idea. It makes the quiz more interesting.

14/15, I did not recognize Verdi. Some others where "last-minute" guesses. Good one!

Medtner, Ornstein yes (has anyone ever heard of them), Bartók no. Strange choices.

12/15: I can't believe I didn't recognise A Midsummer's Nightdream despite having pratically memorised the movie.

Attentive viewer - anewman1976 suggested that it would be more correct to indicate as the author of the Adagio (Oboe Concerto in D Minor) not Bach, but Marcello or Bach/Marcello(if this was keyboard version). I apologize to those who were confused by this.

14/15. - I correctly identified the "national style" for #7 and went with the obvious composer from that country. So then #8 kind of rubbed it in my face when it was instantly recognizable as the guy I just guessed. I suspect some folks might do something similar with #12-13, but #12 was just a little too weird to be by the other composer. And yeah, should really be the Marcello oboe concerto, but with only one Baroque composer listed, it was obvious what the intended answer was.

I like these quizzes, but you sort of messed up... The Bach, is The Oboe Concerto in D minor, S D935 by Alessandro Marcello. Yes you could argue for familiarity call it 'the Bach oboe concerto in d minor', but in reality In his Weimar period (1708-17) Bach arranged several concertos by Venetian composers, most of them by Antonio Vivaldi, for solo keyboard, known as his Weimar concerto transcriptions. THAT is the actual Bach arrangement. Again love your channel but be accurate.

8/10，this time most part is still easy, since most of the pieces are famous. And the other piece is also easy to identify. I couldn’t tell the one for Massnet because I only listened so few of him. And for the Schumann part idk why I didn’t guess Liszt correct and mistakenly think that overture to be someone else written, although it is also distinguishable. For the last question, although I didn’t listen to Puccini a lot, the first one is more classical so I can tell.

8/10 for me. As a Frenchman, I'm embarrassed to admit that the two composers I failed with were Massenet and Saint-Saens. Anyway, great quizz, as always. Thank you!

13/15. I hesitated between Shostakovitch and some minor piece by Tchaikovsky, and finally chose the wrong one. I also failed to identify Satie. Always a delight, anyway. So, thank you and please give us more!

The excerpt from Bizet is from the second suite from L'Arlésienne , not the first. It was arranged after Bizet's death from two numbers from the original score, supposedly by his friend Ernest Guiraud (though there is some doubt as to who the arranger was). The two Dvořák Slavonic dances quoted are from separate sets of these dances. "No. 8" is the eighth and last of the first set (Opus 46). "No. 2" is the second dance of the second set (Opus 72). It is also known as No. 10 of the entire series of 16. Numbering the two sets separately can be confusing, especially in the case of the second dance of each set. Both of these are in e minor, but are otherwise very different.

6/10, not as hard as I feared, but not easy (except for some others who have posted perfect scores) either. Fun, as usual.

I got 9 out of 10. Often I knew the exception but not the other pieces.

9/10. I failed Saint-Saens, though I only guessed many other composers.

I always get tripped up on Baroque, so much of it sounds the same no matter who the composer is.

Only 4/10 #4 I'd not heard of but instantly recognised the intermezzo so knew it was the odd one out.

Wow - I would have gotten a perfectly clueless 0 out of 10 - none of them, except that I recognized Nimrod from watching years of BBC Remembrance Day specials.

I waited long to try this one, because I knew, this would be a 0 points round. I knew only Clara Schumann (her name), but not her music. But then I saw Hildegard in the list and finally got 1 point, because I was deep into the music of middle ages for many years. I enjoyed just to listen, there were many wonderful pieces. Thank you!

You should do violin sonatas next.
