I worked for myself and would see my beneficiary neighbours getting ready for a days recreational fishing or whatever else while I exhausted myself and the IRD and ACC punished me for having a go. My accountant was a pipeline to the IRD. Instead of paying good tradespeople properly they’d import them from overseas. The Christchurch rebuild was a great example of that. I fled across the ditch, never to return and haven’t regretted it for a minute. The opportunities were endless and the money worthwhile. I can’t blame them for taking the dole and doing side gigs, as any work available was likely to yield just enough to go back to work the next week with no real gain. Can’t imagine things have improved in the subsequent 13 years. Fantastic place for the already wealthy to retire though, if you don’t mind a bit of crime.

NZ needs to leave the UN, COP, and all the stupid emissions agreements. The big climate change lie has been designed to de- industrialise the western nations. Russia and China are carrying on producing coal, oil and gas. They’re not buying into the climate crises hoax. Wind turbines and solar panels are NOT green and clean. Huge amounts of mining and/ or fossil fuels are needed to produce both. Let’s stop with the hypocrisy. Net zero carbon means net zero food, net zero warmth in winter, net zero travel, etc, etc. Shane is right - NZ needs to get our industries back up and running, coal, oil and gas to keep our country running, and to bring in revenue to provide the health, housing and educational standards that are 1st World, like they were before. Oh, and cut the senseless methane emissions on the dairy farming. Leave the farmers alone to get on with doing what they know best, to provide NZ and the world with good quality food!

Well said. But I would suggest that the bill for gas and oil exploration is made bi- partisan, so that the investors will have confidence to go ahead, and remain in operation, regardless of whether there is a change of government.
