Spin this Yarn ~ Episode 1
Просмотров 12 тыс.5 лет назад
This is the first in a new weekly spinning series. This in not meant to be a fully informational tutorial but rather somewhere between tutorial and spin along. I apologize for the crappy indoor lighting, I hope to improve on that in the next video. Questions are best directed to Instagram or Facebook (linked below) for quick response, but I will try to check here regularly now that I am back to...
Spinning a Corespun Yarn with a Tencel Core
Просмотров 9 тыс.9 лет назад
You don't have to use a grabby fiber to spin an awesome corespun yarn. Here I demonstrate using tencel weaving thread, my favorite choice for corespinning, to make thick corespun, thin corespun, tailspun and lockspun corespun, and using batts, top, or cloud as well. Spinning Fine Singles from the Lock
Просмотров 13 тыс.10 лет назад
Note: if the music bothers you then don't watch the video. It is free content and rude comments are completely unnecessary. In this video I show how to pull locks from a hand dyed fleece and spin them directly from the lock into a fine single. This will eventually be plied into sock yarn and hand knit into some comfy winter socks! Spinning Wheel: Schacht Sidekick Music: "You Can't Hide" by And ...

Great video you explain everything so detailed. Can carding be done in place of using the combs like your show in the video or do you have to do both ? I am a newbie trying to learn before I buy any equipment

Love love love!! I don’t usually go this big simply because I like my fiber to last me a bit longer since spinning is my favorite part of the craft and I don’t have limitless budget but I am going to try a smaller coil soon and it was so nice to get a quick refresh! Gorgeous batt and beautiful end product! Thanks again!

Whaaat, I’m definitely going to try this tomorrow. I spin supercoils a lot but have been having some trouble doing consistent spirals especially with a thick and thin. Thank you. I’m very curious to see if I can make it work for me.

Hi. How much yarn is needed? I have some worsted weight and I imagine that will work with the right sized needles to get the gauge right. I'd like to knit this for my adult son. Please let me know the amount of yarn needed. Thank you!

Super helpful video! Also gorgeous yarn 😍 do you wet/steam set your corespun before you coilspin it? Or can you coil it straight off the bobbin?

The finished product is exquisite. But.... what do you knit out of it? I’d really like to see a pic of a finished knitted project. Or, do you just keep it displayed as an “objet d’art”?

I just made an old "walking wheel" style spinning wheel out of a bike. I took the rear wheel off and inserted a 36cm double pointed needle through the frame drive band on front wheel to rear needle which I taped and wrapped in some twine for the drive band to be gripped. I want to mount it on the wall so I can walk instead of this 'rowing' I've been doing on the floor... can this beautiful yarn be done on my knockoff? :)
