Saw these in Reply 1988. Viewers outside Asia probably wonder how it all works there in Seoul.
I know this ondol floor heating system. I was in South Korea in the winter of 1973-74 and slept in a room sometimes that used yeontan charcoal as a heating source. It was interesting to see how that a new yeontan was added. Floor heating is very efficient.
Thank you for the comments. In the poor 1970s, most houses in Korea used briquettes. Now the briquettes are almost gone, and Korean 'Ondol system' is maintained with urban gas energy. Be happy. ^^
@@k_now21 I have looked at Google Street View before and am amazed at the changes that have been made in the areas I frequented back then. Even in the extreme countryside, dirt roads are paved, thatch-roofed houses are gone with multi-story apartment buildings replacing them, and industry everywhere...miraculous changes.
