LS Swap Cost Breakdown
Too many people asking for this, I am nothing if not a man of the people.
Also now almost 30,000kms (20,000miles) on the car since the swap and I could not be happier!

    • @fastwheeler7225
      @fastwheeler7225 27 дней назад

      Yeah CPE regularly sells converted cars for ~$65,000 USD. In terms of custom work just to do an engine swap for you, you’ll have to reach out to them. Depending on where you are I would entertain doing the swap for someone for $$$ Send me a dm on instagram or email me and we can chat

    Great vid. What does this allen screw do exactly when youre unscrewing it? Reason i ask is, clamshell on my '99 c4 cab works but when opening the roof, at the end of the cycle it does not sit flush with the body and stops about 95% of the way. I dont wanna unscrew anything cause apparently the calibration is a PITA. Any thoughts?

    • @fastwheeler7225
      @fastwheeler7225 6 месяцев назад

      The screw pulls on the cable that hooks to the latch-hooks and once wound all the way pulls the latch apart. So yes tightening would tighten your latch down. This portion does not affect the roof calibration in any way as it only forces open the latch. nothing to do with the folding mechanism.

    • @shaazy
      @shaazy 6 месяцев назад

      @@fastwheeler7225 Thanks! It's rather interesting you'd say that cause I read the Porsche service manual on the top on renntech a lil while ago, it says that the "compartment lid motor drive screw" is part of an emergency release in case the top fails for whatever reason. Another emergency release allen screw was said to be in the front top latch. Interestingly, both need to be "recalibrated" before performing a computer calibration. So I'm a little hesitant about touching it just yet. What I was thinking to do was, I'd put the top in service position (till clamshell fully retracts as it does right now to 95%). Then unscrew counterclockwise till I can see it reaching the last 5%. What's currently happening is that clamshell retracts 95%, then comes back to finish the cycle, also at 95%, so as to stop about 1 cm away. Doesnt sit flush.

    • @fastwheeler7225
      @fastwheeler7225 6 месяцев назад

      For sure! Secure the quick jacks good and you will never need to adjust the car: Then pull the lower subframe piece out, the rest of the engine/trans removal is super easy! Don’t forget the ground straps(bolted to frame rails by exhaust) and don’t worry about disassembling the exhaust (it comes out attached to the engine)

    • @fastwheeler7225

      Absolutely! if you keep the LS mounted back, zero changes to the driveline. If you move it forward, you simply get your driveshaft shortened

    • @fastwheeler7225
      @fastwheeler7225 7 месяцев назад

      I don’t have one of those to compare, but if you NEEDED to, you could maybe take out a washer in the mounts and strip the sound-deadening, that might buy you an extra inch compared to my factory ls3 intake. Hope that helps

    I know you are using a LS3 intake manifold, however I am looking to use a MSD atomic fo my LS7, what are the restrictions in there that prevent that taller manifold? Can you cut anything away to gain one additional inch of clearance on top? I don't have a 911 yet but planning my swap. Thanks!

    • @fastwheeler7225
      @fastwheeler7225 7 месяцев назад

      It IS possible to cut the top of the engine bay out and replace it with a raised panel. (not it you have a convertible and want the top to go down!) guys that K-swap usually do. it is hard to reach and basically an unnecessary challenge. I would recommend finding a manifold that fits.

Of course many of the answers were "just buy the CPE kit" which is good advice, although adding it up it is several thousand more than Renegade but they also seem to be much more helpful and professional.

      You could if you really care about hwy fuel economy, but I have done a few 10hr+ trips now and honestly it isn't that bad. Benefits of the low gearing are better acceleration and more fun low-speed driving. If i could swap out just 6th gear with a hwy gear, I would.
