So sweet a dog rescues are the best
Keep it up. Nice work.
I am about to do the same thing while I get the oil pump cover seal. This is helpful, thanks. ps I know I am of no help now but have seen if you loosen the bolts holding the condenser, you have enough play to get that hard to reach bolt for the rad with a normal deep socket.
Thanks! All tips and tricks welcome on this channel! The majority of the job is pretty straightforward and easy, its always one or two bolts that consume the time. I do wish I would have done the oil pump cover seal while I was in there.. Better to do more at once then regret it later. Enjoy!
Thanks for the tag and nice work on your 80.
Thanks, it’s coming along. Great content on your channel!
Nice video. I just replaced my driver rear door actuator as well as all the window seals.
Not too bad, right? We’re still missing passenger front lock actuator. I may have to learn to rebuild that one.
Great condition platform for a nice build. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Thanks @dookie9728! It has been a blast so far. Slow and steady, but always making progress!
"Denouement". Look it up
Nice
Grosvenor Arch, just south of Bryce NP Utah Nice hike to the top around the southeast side.
Right you are! Lovely area.

I posted on your other video about the caster. That is important to get these 80s to drive good. Another thing would be to check the front alignment spec which IIRC factory spec is 1.5 degrees toe-in though some folks leave it at zero toe. Would be a good idea to check the big bushings on the front radius arms, rear control arms, and panhard bars. Make sure those big bolts from all the arms and bars are torqued to factory spec and double check them after some driving.
I recall you guys saying it has a OME 2.5in lift. I couldn't tell if you have adjustable panhard bars which help re-center the axles. You could also get eimkeith brackets. Re-centering them will eliminate driveline vibrations, premature u-joint wear, steering wheel vibrations, keeps the truck driving straight and steady when the road isn't so great etc. Also, not would be good to know if the previous owner installed caster correction bushings or not. If they didn't I'd recommend caster correction plates from Slee Offroad which on a 2.5in lift should yield the 3 degrees the truck comes from the factory. Good way to find out is via the alignment spec sheet and 2 degrees is what Toyotas deems the low end of normal. Lastly, since it was lifted measure the bolt at the back center of the rear diff which connects to the LSPV load sensing proportioning valve. You need to adjust that bolt (extend) after doing a lift to correct the rear brake line pressure or else you'll have less braking power because the lift fools the valve. The forum ih8mud is your friend.
Grats on your LX450 purchase. Highly recommend you do the PHH (pesky heater hose) if the previous owner hasn't because that's one that will leave you stranded and it's annoying to do. Also, inspect for hardened hoses/ dry cracks/ pin holes/ or bulging around the clamps on any rubber engine coolant bypass hoses or the heater rubber hoses underneath the body. You mentioned the previous owner replaced the alternator 3 yrs ago and has a new battery so that's great. I will say that if it doesn't start one day then it could be the fusible link which is connected at the + terminal or the perhaps the contacts inside the starter are worn out. When you turn the key the check engine light should come on and that's how you know its working. The starter you could tap the side of it and if it starts or acts like it wants to start then its the starter contacts and those can be replaced. The last thing with regards to not starting is a transmission switch IIRC.
What did you give for her? $
Good Job!
What a great trip and video! We really loved seeing it from your perspective! Glad you caught some video of our teardrop from the back - I had no idea it looked so tiny!
That's a nice new looking fusible link. So that's good 👍
Yep! Looked to be original, so I replaced and kept the old for a spare.
super nice. Did you ever get your lockers working?
Did it work? These are notorious for having a hard time bleeding the system. You have to bleed the LSPV too. I used a pressure bleeder on mine and it went pretty easily.
It worked beautifully. I was shocked at how nasty the fluid was considering the previous owner had the master cylinder and booster replaced a couple of years ago. Thankfully I did not have any complications, including with the LSPV. I used the tried and true method of making my wife pump the brakes.
Nice 80. I found it's way easier just getting a whole new rod when replacing the tie-rod and drag link ends if they give you any sort of hassle. I didn't notice but did you put any grease or anti-sieze on the threads when you put it back together? How did it drive after that? Let's trade subs! 😀
Thank you. I was over confident initially and didn’t have a new rod handy. I was able to relatively easily do the tie rods on my 1989 4Runner, so I thought I could break these free too. I put a little general purpose grease on the threads. It drives SO much better!
@@psych.on.a.hike_ I had to use a torch to get mine off.. that was lame. 😁
Sounds like a power steering pump is next
Texas! Should be so much less rusty than those of us in the north. I noticed your D light still lights. All the good good.
It is fairly good in the rust department. Was pretty pleased to find this one.
An 80 isn't complete till there is a dog in the back. CHECK!
@LostandFoundTravel Agreed! We have two that love to hang out in it whether we’re working on it or driving!
Hi! New subscriber here. Just bought a 97 and waiting for its shipment. Cant wait. Congrats on yours.
@xzerbaluyot9994 How exciting! When do you expect to receive yours?
It arrived over the weekend. I need to fix the power seats. Won't go forward or backwards. I need to replace the gear.
Seat gears are on our to-do list also.
Good videos.
