Добавлен 26 мар 2020
Hi I am Peter Nickols a photographer from Lincolnshire in the UK, follow me on my Photography escapades where I share with you my trials and tribulations in the great outdoors. My aim is to create some great content for you to enjoy as I try to catch some epic photos out and about the UK and further afield. I will also strive to create the best quality videos I can, improving as I go along.
I only really get a chance to this fantastic hobby at weekends, and being a farmer my channel may go a bit quiet during the summer months...but I will be back.

Bringing Harvest Home. A journey through Harvest 2022 in the Lincolnshire Fens.
Join me as I take you through Harvest 2022 on our farm with drone footage and photos galore. I have gone through over 4 hours of video footage and nearly 200 photos to narrow it down to just under 40 minutes of edited video and I am sure you will love every minute, but if you are short on time I have broken the video down into chapters for quick navigation.
It was a record breaking harvest for us this year despite the really dry hot weather in 2022 and we had some lovely conditions and awesome sunsets that you will see in this video, with a little bit of local insight and a village show to boot.
Harvest on any farm is pretty hectic at the best of times and filming and photographing this one...

Misty Mam Tor and the late sunrise. And I finally use my Nikon Z 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 VR S lens!
Просмотров 2672 года назад
Join me @peternickols on another photography escapade, where I go deep into the Peak District National Park in search of a winter sunrise. First I have to find my way in the dark, fog and frost to get to my ideal photo spot. Can I find my way in the dark, will my pathetic lungs enable me to actually climb that hill or will I slip up on the frosty stone path never to be seen again. I start talki...
Using the Nikon Z24-120mm f4 on the best coastal sunrise I have ever seen.

Come with me as I use my new, take everywhere lens the Nikon Z24-120mm f4 S for the first time. I experience what must be the best sunrise I have ever seen, with some glorious colours and atmosphere created at this most special time of the day by the rising sun on a perfectly still day. But do I manage to get the photos I want? Do I get there in time to get the best conditions? Can you make any...
Woodland Photography in the winter : is fog a necessity for good photos?
Просмотров 1772 года назад
In this video I go to a local woodland on a cold foggy morning, where the conditions where ideal to create some separation in the trees, keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife and some unusual sounds in the vicinity. Check out my channel for other videos and feel free to take a peek at my website at peternickolsphotography.com to see my portfolio, blog posts and the chance to purchase a print o...
A Winters day on Chrome Hill, Heavy snow (and I lose some kit!)
Просмотров 983 года назад
Join me on a cold winters day on Chrome Hill and Hitter Hill in the Peak District. The weather was a bit rough at the start of the day, but that created some great conditions for some wonderful photos and I had a fantastic time there. You will see some great views of the surrounding area and I even get some feeling back in my fingers later in the day. This is my first video, and I encountered a...
Очень красиво! Моё почтение.
🤷🏻♂️👍
very nice, do you stick the bracketed shots together using HDR stack in Lightroom ?
If I need to yes, but if remember correctly all the photos were taken only using one image. The dynamic range on these cameras is good. 😊
Some stunning shots there Peter. Well done on being so patient, definitely paid off 👍
Cheers Stephen, I could have had a few more hours in bed if I had known. 😂
@@peternickols2687 😃
Great report. This Z 24-120 is a no brainer for any Nikon shooter. Yes, it is sharper at the edges compared to its F mount counterpart
It is the lens that is mounted to my camera most often now. 👍
Patience well rewarded - great shots!
Yes. At the time it felt like an eternity. Many thanks 🙏.
Great shots! I'm wondering because i wanna go mirrorless and coming from my D750. Why do you pick the Z7 II over the Z6 II? Is it because you need the higher Megapixels?
I did own the Z6 for just over a year, but went to the Z7ii as you said for the higher megapixels. This means I can crop in and yet still be able to produce large prints. Also the Z7ii had two card slots as I like the reassurance for data security. And most of all, thanks for watching the video and I am pleased you liked the photos. 🙏
You like oversaturated pictures right? 😅
Believe it or not, only a tiny bit.
Love this Peter, what a brilliant insight and awesome pictures and videos. As much as I would have liked to have played a part in this great production, I’m pleased I didn’t. 👍🏻🤣
Pleased you liked it Joe, I couldn't have got much more JD product in if I tried. The video was only really possible due to a relatively easy harvest giving me the time do it. You could have been in it, but I didn't want to film you at work!!
Did you shoot a video with handheld sir. Or with a gimbal
I use a DJI Pocket 2.
What is the tripod head you are using? Thanks
Hi Samaresh, firstly sorry for the late reply. I use the Benro GD3WH. 3 way geared head, it may be slower to set up than a ball head but fine adjustments are so easy with this head.
@@peternickols2687 Thank you. I have purchased 24-120 f4 after seeing your work and I do not regret buying it.
@@samareshm good choice, it’s a fantastic lens.
Hello and thank you for the video. For the image that you showed of the beach houses, where did you focus? Was it a focus stacked image? I truly liked that image! Thank you!
Hi David, many thanks for the generous comments. The beach hut photo was one image and I focused approx one third up the image, just right of centre. I did try multiple focus points and considered a focus stack but found this one to be just right for the focus throughout the image. Just a little tip…. When you use the play button on your camera there will be a reference somewhere as to where you focused. Use this in conjunction with your saved images in Lightroom (or whatever software you use) and you will then be able to cross reference each image to find out exactly what focus point produced to best focus throughout the image. You can then remember this for future compositions and focusing. 👍
Just discovered your channel, great. Very much enjoyed it. Love it there I must go back.
Many thanks Kevin. Yes it is great there, especially when it is as quiet as that day. Thanks for watching.
Re zebras, I've got a Z7 ii with 1.40 firmware. I can see zebras in image playback, but not live whilst taking photos...
Yes Justin you are spot on there, I seem to have not been overly clear in the video. I don’t know how much I would use it if it was available whilst taking photos, it’s just a shame it is not an option available to us. Maybe one day. 👍
Hello from the USA. I just discovered your channel with this video and enjoyed it. Wonderful colors, tones and information. I look forward to seeing more.
Many thanks Paul. I am pleased you liked the video, and I hope to make many more in the future. Thanks for watching. 👍
Amazing!
Many thanks Jason. 🙏👍.
May I ask which camera you are using? Thanks
No problem. It is a Nikon Z7ii.
That was cosmic. Thank you
No problem. Pleased you liked it. 👍
Awesome shots.. Beautiful Colors and Tones..
Many Thanks Azeem, it was a one in a million morning, so pleased I made it there in time. 👍Thanks for watching.
very beautiful compositions. I love the music ;you chose for your video. I'd love to see more videos from you. Very calming and peaceful. You have a great eye.
Many thanks Karen. I try my best for a novice. I do have a couple more videos out and plan to do more (work permitting) Pleased you like my choice of music too. 👍
@@peternickols2687 I love the photo of the ballerina tree I would love to see that and more high contrast I’d also love to see it backlit I think it’s an amazing subject and you could do a lot more with it
Yes. You are right. Luckily it is not far from home.
Nice work Peter!
Many thanks. 👍
U made your tripod do the splits!
Yes I did. I didn’t want to retract the legs and get sand inside them. Thanks for watching. 👍
Love those gnarly trees there Peter, one of my favourite places to go in the fog. One day I’ll get that stag shot there in the mist!
Many thanks Jamie, and yes absolutely, on a day like that it is a great place to be. I did see a couple of Stags on that day but they where too far away for a decent photo.....maybe next time.
dude~ Yo,incredible , )
Cheers. Always good to get a positive comment. 👍
