I got Battlefield 2042 on sale for like $22 I think like 3-6 months after the game launched. Played it less than 2 hours and got a refund. Just awful. Grew up playing BF3 on PS3, many many hours, and I feel very nostalgic for it.

After bad company 2, it was downhill

That ending was solid. There are two games that stand out for me like that, and one is BF3. The other is GTA3. Both were revolutionary in their time, and just blew me away. They took me to new places of gameplay that I'd never imagined, and were pure gamers games. Once corporate steps in, and realises there is big money to be made, it's hard to get a gamers' game out of that company. Look at R* with GTA5/ online, and these new Battlefield games. I'm glad I was 11 when GTA3 came out, and in the Marine Corps fresh off an Afghan deployment when BF3 came out. It made each of those games impactful in different times of my life.

Battlefield 1 is the literal GOAT. My #1 favorite shooter of all time. Battlefield V wasn't nearly as good, but I definitely enjoyed playing it. 2042 was the most expensive, wasted 20 minutes of my life.

I was a devoted fan for decades. Last DICE game I bought was Battlefield 1 and I only played a few weeks before going back to BF3 and BF4. If I want to play a good game, I go back to those masterpieces. Sad thing is tho, I don’t think they could make a game that good if they HAD to. There’s no way to recreate the atmosphere and the community and spirit of the game as it existed then. And now these devs are catering to the lowest common denominator and children’s short attention spans and addiction to Fortnight and other cartoonish shooters.

Classic example of executives ruining the product by trying to make it for the investor rather than the player.

I would pour hours into BF3/4 and since 2042, haven’t touched BF in years. Sad to see how it’s all crumbling around us; not even just BF. COD, Star Wars, LOTR, and other titles/genres with massive fan bases. Sad trend to see.

BF2 on pc was the best fps ever.

One of the things i miss most is the skill of using knives. It was difficult to get an animated knife kill which made it more rewarding and humiliating. Now its just lame and most people probably dont even know they have a knife.

I was such a major fan during the era of BF2 to BF3, it's kind of shocking to realize that I've not picked up another title since 2011. I remember the passionate fan in me getting a little upset with BF4's release feeling too early. BF3 still had lots of life left and BF4 honestly didn't seem like the same upgrade from 2 to 3 (or even BC2 to 3 to be more fair). Then Hardline... I couldn't help but feel like it was just EA riding the coattails of GTA V's success, putting their own cheap spin on it, and stamping it with the Battlefield name, which I remember feeling was extremely lazy, and after that I kind of just accepted it was going to be a while, possibly never, for another BF3 to be released.

Ngl,as a COD player(although i ditched that too) I really enjoyed BFV.The scenery especially looked great,especially on the Pacific maps.

BF3 was the most incredible online shooter in it's time. But BF1 was a masterpiece.

He didn't even talk about how they removed regenerating health and endless ammo for vehicles on battlefield 5 That was super annoying and it didn't add anything to the game. Also removing the spotter mechanisms was a bad idea

I remember BF4's beta actually allowed you to lock onto lazed targets with the beginning rocket launcher the RPG-7. Found it funny, especially since they removed them.

I still play bf3 on the ps3💪

Unfortunately the decline started at the launch of bf4. It’s debatable that it really started when dice released bc1 as it deviated from classic battlefield

Just like Halo, just like CoD. Huge cash cow franchises with already established die hard fans yet all three IPs have managaed to fumble the ball in spectacular fashion bordering on amazement.

Just bring me BF4 or BF5 with no out of theme shit. It is a military game, do not make a "skin" that has rainbow on it, just doesn't suit the theme

Battlefield 1 was the best battlefield ever made. I will die in that trench.

Though I never got to play bf3 in its prime unfortunately (as I was a call of duty troglodyte with a 2ms attention span at the time) I remember my friends at school were huge bad company fans and I was instantly hooked when I played it at their house, when I got my ps4 before I got any cod game I bought bf4 and I immediately fell in love and enjoyed bf1 as well when that released, I even remember buying hardline and though alot of people disliked it I still remember having a modicum of fun with the campaign and multiplayer, I passed on bfv as I wasn't really interested in both what dice and activision were doing with their franchises. In 2021 the bf2042 leaks and hype train started and I was pumped, the fact that it was supposedly "massively inspired by bf3" made me download it on my Series S to try it out since I heard alot of praise for it. I enjoyed the campaign, though it lacked a gripping narrative and story it was still quite fun gameplay wise and the graphics were unbelievably gorgeous for a 2011 game. Multiplayer games could still be found and I had a damn blast playing metro 24/7. I pre ordered bf2042 and instantly regretted it. I feel that there is a huge drought in the fps scene nowadays. CoD is just a rinse and repeat cycle and Battlefield used to be a perfect blend of milsim and arcade fps. I really hope heart can come back to this industry and while people are getting excited for the next battlefield that is supposedly in development I would hold my horses, developers promise the world on a plate but don't deliver these days.

Battlefield 3 was truly revolutionary. It really felt like the beginning of something huge. I never thought it would have ended like this.

That’s no fair. Because I bought the battlefield game specifically battlefield four battlefield one and battlefield five and even the new one and guess what I’ve only played the campaigns because my PS4 they told me they never told me everything to do and I had to fly to hear through Covid to get things done and once I settle down and I just wanna play a battlefield multiplayer match EA pops up telling me you have to make a EA account. EA is a criminal in video games I’m sorry but there’s stealing money they want to make money don’t they care about the people who play their games I mean he needs to shut down one day or need a cyber attack to get a message and understand that they’ve attacked gamers. Like I have to say why shut down the best battlefield game which is battlefield three and even battlefield 4 to be exact because of the LA studio that did the nicest texture of work why do that why, EA is so busted one day that if anyone is with me we should start a revolt in gaming revolution.

2142 was an absolute banger and it’s slept on so hard. Deserves a remake. Titan mode was so ahead of its time.

BF3 is peak Battlefield. Man I miss that so much.

Had so many good memories playing BF3 with my buddy….we would get in the attack chopper every chance we got and just murder the whole enemy team.

So now hardline wasn't all that bad, I enjoyed that game thoroughly.
