Although only in its infancy, Discothèque Tropicale has quickly gained support from the likes of Antal, Hunee, Mendel, Barbara Boeing, Poly Ritmo and Dar Disku to name a few.
The collective, London based events series, and licensed reissue label’s first project is focussed on highlighting the sounds of Guadeloupe and the Southern French Antilles. In doing so they hope to champion and honour the talented artists that birthed this beautiful music.

Morocco / Netherlands (Osiris) - 1998 🇲🇦🇳🇱
Sharing something a bit different today as we present an excellent raï track taken from an amazing album by "Noujoum Raï' (which translates to "Stars of Raï")
Founded by the Moroccan 'Khelifi' brothers, the band were based in Utrecht, Netherlands, and were important in spreading and highlighting raï music in Europe during the late 90s.
This CD is a fantastic example of their intricate instrumentation with soaring synths, trumpets, luscious guitar licks and great use of North African percussive rhythms such as those typified by the derbouka drum.
This track 'Ntia' is lovely with the vocals of 'Abdelkader Amri' deserving special ment...

Almost everyday i remember this Zouk ..have that refrain : -"..flash love + baby i love you...this lov song is for you" "ou sé soley an mwen..." on my deepest memories. Such a nice synthbass and the counterpoints of drums and keyboards....what an intro...what an outro....😮...such great arrangements.... The kind of music i appreciate (limitated voice as much it takes and lots of instruments improvisation). what a top level of inspiration! For me 1 of best Zouk lov songs ever and as a Zouk fanatic i know lots of Zouk's. Can please tell me the name of musicians? You will not believe for how long im searching this Zouk...i knew it was band called Cocktail so searched and searched but in vain. First time i heard it was on 1989 on a radio in Lisbon...some days later my father brought a cassete from one of the african night clubs of Lisbon he usually visited on that time...these days im in PT and 2 days ago i grabbed that cassete eventhough i don't have cassete player on good condition ( but i still keep all my old Zouk cassetes although im not living in PT more than 16 years). Yesterday this post with this song appeared on my YT...🤔 All this text just to tell you...THANKS A LOT....as i thought already i would die without listening this Zouk again. 34/35 years of search are finally ended ❤.
