    This is one of the best videos I have seen to date on the current KTM issue. I own a KTM 300 and love it. I would love to seem them succeed yet cannot see how. I agree with your stance on a buy in of the company, who is going to want to take on that level of debt with such a low yield.

    Crap bikes. Most of them will have multiple faults and engine issues. They have no will to fix their sub standard bikes. They have a poor dealer next work to resolve problems. It is so simple why they are going under. Goodbye KTM

    Well... if you went from S.Maria Navarrese to S.Teodoro by a 170km trip, that means that you plan your trip with Google Maps and so you missed the stunning SS125 Orientale Sarda. Too bad because ironically you were already on it ! There are literally dozens of very long roads with perfect tarmac (and that's why the islands is packed with bikers from all over Europe...). About the Alghero-Bosa you're right, but I have to say that's almost the only "bikers road" with poor tarmac... A 12 days trip in Sardinia would give the opportunity to ride on almost all the best roads of the island. Best periods are spring and fall, avoid summer and you'll find almost zero traffic. Check on youtube to find out the best roads and you won't be disappointed ;)

    Late to this video, but it certainly seems KTM will not survive unscathed. MV is already being sold, apparently all classes in MotoGP will be withdrawn after 2025. I don’t see Gas Gas or maybe even Husky continuing as a brand. Or if they do Bajaj and CFMoto will own them.

    I had one of the very first 790R to come to the states. It was a truly innovative exceptional bike. I never had a single issue with it. That being said, KTM has lost ALL credibility via their statements denying 790/890 issues. Way too many things keep happening to the 790/890 line...cracked fuel tanks, valves, electrical issues. KTM will have fire sale prices very soon on all the models. Note to KTM: The Vultures that eat KTM will fire the idiots who thought it a good idea to lie to it's base, and the idiots who thought it a good idea to produce intercompany competition...Ktm 690 v H 701 etc. What ignorant fool did that?

    I can assume KTM thought that buying failing bike companies would increase their market share, while saving big money by standardizing manufacturing. But the companies failed mostly because they had no market share. Because KTM does have market share, it will spread to the rest of the existing companies,----unless Honda buys KTM. :) Because of the industries dwindling market share, I agree with you that KTM will be totally gone soon. I don't see anybody making a profit from any pat of KTM. If somebody thinks they can take the best sellers to china to have made, then I guess we don't learn very quickly. I know this, Japan is having a good time right now.

  • @EarthSurferUSA
    @EarthSurferUSA Месяц назад

    11:50 "Understand what your market is, and adjust your business to it." That is what happened. With the dwindling share due to regulation pushing up all bike and car prices,---somebody had to go out of business, (and have been). It is an adjustment to the dwindling market. My question is, will it create enough market share for the surviving companies so they can make a profit? Because when it comes to dirt bikes, I bet none of them are making a profit right now. A mixed economy does not work. We have the results today, in our faces.

  • @EarthSurferUSA
    @EarthSurferUSA Месяц назад

    My posts are censored, (welcome to communism folks), but here i will try one again: As we also know, high bike prices drastically reduced the market share the industry once earned. The prices of bikes and cars, are over double they would be with out EPA type regulation forced on the industries. But guess what, with all the trade agreements our wonderful government did with communism in china, EPA regulations were not included. That means the EPA is not about saving the planet, but to hinder/destroy free enterprise and fund communism. There is no university economist who understands and teaches, that free enterprise and communism are not compatible. But the result are in.

    12,000 and 14,000 is just to much money for a dirt bike. Should have skipped the injection and keep the carb & kick starter, offering at a lower price. Because of the unknown buyers will have to wait longer to buy .

    You're missing the point. They are NOT a luxury product in the bike market. They paid too much for the other coimpanies and took on way too much debt. The share (and your bikes) are worth less every day. Sell now, because after they goo bankrupt, they won't be worth what they are today. Therr is no equity lefty, unless the lenders agree to convert some debt into equity, but they will still be left with north of 2.5B of debt. They'll need 50M just to pay interest. KTM is gone!

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA Месяц назад

      Yep. They also tried to appease the EPA the most, which is very expensive and takes resources away from manufacturing and quality, among every other entity of doing a moral business. I will bet you, mostly because of the EPA, no bike manufacture is making a profit today for dirt bikes.

    I wish people would quit saying they had cheese cams, because that was not the problem because the problem was oil jets getting clogged up due to dirt or initial break-in particles and that issue was solved with keeping the oil feed gally clean and installing a pre oil elongated thimble filter screen in cylinder head just under the camshaft bridge, and when I see these bad camshaft engines it’s only because of not having this update along with debris in the camshaft oil jets. I am a technician and an engineer for over 40 years. So shut you traps you non tech armchair mechanics! Been riding Motocross for over 30 years now. Also owned many KTM and Huskys including the KTM 250XC TBI (as seen and reviewed on my channel). As you say, there was not enough product differentiation between the brands. They tried to make Gas Gas the "fun" brand, Husky the "top tier brand for Vets, and the KTM brand for "the serious racers". For example a GasGas 300 might be identical to the KTM but GasGas had different brakes, as well as Cast Triiple clamps and other minor downgrades compared to KTM which exclusively had Billet Clamps on all models, as well as Brembo brakes. But performance wise the average joe porbably couldn't tell a difference. I agree that they simply got over confident and spent money acquiring brands that they didn't need to, as well as building out a HUGE facility in California for the Supercross Race teams etc. yes, the post covid economic environment affected many others inlcuding a lot of the top Bicycle brands (the Pon group which owns Santa Cruz and many others), Trek downsized, many huge retailers went out of business all together. Then we have the downfall of the auto industry in Germany. I'll also add that the Austrians are also heavily invested in the German auto industry as well, and perhaps one major challenge that they ALL face is the high cost of labor in those countries. Great video and i'll likely be making my own version with some of these updates as well. Stay in touch!

Guess who our governments sent our free enterprise production to since 1978, (when china said they would give "semi private" business a try), with no EPA regulations that we have to endure? But they should also consider that the customer for a long time now has got their eyes on the middle class which KTM have ignored for too long, CF Moto now has a 450cc there should have been a KTM (or husqvarna), the middle class should have been the bread and butter for KTM , the 390adv sadly was too little too late. I think KTM has done their most diligent work and have placed itself in a position where no one expected it to be thus causing a great big distraction so as to accomplish its master plan. industrial subterfuge. It's all within the law though, and is very interesting to see unfold. Don't worry old friend, KTM isn't going down, and those shares will sky-rocket again. Be patient, let it unfold.

Your right bad acquisition decisions thinking the volume will go up buying 3 brands and not killing off at least one of the brands . The dealers are going to be the ones who take it on the chin with too much inventory in the pipeline which is not going anywhere soon.

    As someone who has done troubled company workout as well as merger integration, and who has watched a few of these vids about KTM, there are a couple of things that come up right away. The first is one I haven't seen anyone address; sources of cash and uses of cash. Most companies in this position have lost control of cash flow. What's KTM's situation? They won't emerge unless it's addressed. Second, I sincerely doubt that even in their most feverish of fever dreams that KTM management thought they were buying market share with Husky and GasGas. Rather, it has the hallmarks of anti-competitive purchases - they bought them to make it harder for anyone else to revive those brands. The brands themselves have value, so they were denying that value to any new or existing competitor. I both respect and criticize their bikes, but as for KTMUSA, my experiences with them have - shall we say - not been exactly positive.

    IMO KTM is the brand most recognized for hard enduro, would make more sense to have it stay hard enduro if you are breaking up by cc. Sell Husqvarna and Gas Gas to GPX so they can build basically the same bike for half the price. I could see GPX swooping in to buy KTM once they completely implode, no one will buy the debt though.
