Hey Graham, thank you so much for watching. How bloody exciting planning to hit the road and explore your backyard mate, what a feeling. Get it little, Toyota pun there too 🤣👍 The biggest thing I come back to when talking to people is most things will follow you it’s just having that clearances to get over obstacles or through the wombat holes. We also found that tyre pressure played a massive role in the caravan to stop the rattling inside and protecting it more. There are definitely pros and cons with every setup but I think you couldn’t go wrong with what you are thinking. Don’t be afraid to look at the second hand market but really look over and make sure everything is good at anything that was built during the devils virus. Hope this somewhat answers your question. Best of luck with setting it up. Only reason we actually went for a 70 series is most people know how to work on them these days and you can get parts pretty much anywhere.

Spot on well said. People are living in such ruts including myself at times serving the elites. Power to those who get out and do this. Most people make grand plans while the whole show just passes them by ,then turn around in there late 60s and go where did the last 30 years go. Ah yeah paying off a cardboard box.

So happy to hear life has improved for you. Fresh air, sunlight, nature and exercise are all great healers. Vegemite and B vitamins helped me heaps as well.

Hey Tony, turning off the gas is correct procedure for travelling. There has been some post of people leaving it on and unfortunately it has burnt the van to the ground. We were super lucky getting over and found a booking within 6 weeks with the van. We always had the intention of selling the van in Tassie due to having family there so didn’t book return. But it was hard to get out as such so definitely advisable to book return with the van. 👍

@@tonycook2347 oh wow, can’t believe it’s still that long of a wait even with the new boat meant to be arriving. We left at the end of April and it was getting really cold by then with frosty mornings. All depends on how you travel but we felt to take your time and enjoy certain spot 3 months would be good… but in saying that we meet people that where there for a month just wanting to get out as they felt they had seen it all. Really appreciate your kind words so much thank you.

Absolutely it is but when people that you love or trust are telling you to question your thoughts it can definitely be hard. It really is steering away from what people see as the normal life and that scares a lot of others. And some people really listen and dont take that leap, so hopefully this will help someone.

Yeah unfortunately cut the video there but I’m sure we could do a part 2 as we have a few more points including those. 👍 But to answer, to be honest there has only been a couple of places we have looked at and gone hhhmmm doesn’t feel too safe and we just leave to the next. Personally we have never had any theft or crime nor have we seen it only heard it from someone who talked to someone that was told by another person. Are we naive that theft doesn’t happen absolutely not but everywhere we go we are told the theft and crime is terrible so all we can do is our best to lock up everything and don’t leave anything out overnight. I believe most are opportunistic rather than to put in work to get something but again that’s only most. As a solo traveller I recommend you talking to people at camp and maybe if you feel comfortable let them know you are on your own, I know that we have had people do this to us and I just keep that extra eye and ear out to make sure they are doing well. That would have been such a good time! We past some people doing a boys trip in a stock old Mercedes and they where just having a cracker of a time together.
