Masa Spreader Review For Tamales
Просмотров 8 тыс.4 года назад
Today I am reviewing a masa spreader. This is used for spreading masa on a corn husk for making tamales. You can find them from amazon as I did where I paid $14 for a set of two. The masa spreader helps to speed up the process of making tamales. It is great for those who are just starting to learn how to make tamales as it is much easier than the spoon method.

    Would you stick your fingers in a blender when it’s plugged in?

    The chorizo is not spicy at all, it’s mild. The dried ancho is a little bit sweeter than the guajillo. They are there mostly for flavor not heat. I hope it helps. Thank you for watching the video.

    How spicy are the chorizo from adding those peppers? Like from a scale from 1 to 10. Are they used for flavour besides the heat? I grew jalapenos and I got hooked on them, I'm more than sure the other Mexican peppers must taste incredible.

    I used one for twenty years and loved it. I used it for potatoes, apples, carrots, zucchini & cheese. I just bought the professional model and am liking that too. I cringed every time she reached into the grater with her fingers especially w/ her other hand so close to the trigger. I don’t even get the food out with my fingers when it’s unplugged.

    do you make sure your husks are dry?

    • @korinaskitchen1045
      @korinaskitchen1045 3 года назад

      Hi Kacie, Thank you for watching our video and commenting. I always soak the husks with hot water for at least a couple of hours and drain them before I start assembling. I’ve never tried making them with dry husks, it might be easier for spreading the masa but you need the husks to soften so you can wrap the tamal.

    This video was exactly what I needed to see, I bought one of these and I am ready to try it out this week, the other video made it look too easy and I kind of figured that they had mastered it but for a first time user like me maybe it would be a little harder, I enjoyed your video and feel better about giving it a go.

    • @korinaskitchen1045
      @korinaskitchen1045 3 года назад

      Like I mentioned on the video I don’t make tamales often. I don’t remember how long I mixed it for, I just mixed it and felt the masa until it was nice and smooth like play dough

    Did you make your own masa or did you make it like the lady's? You could, probably, use a frosting knife or a plastic pie spatula, too. I wouldn't pay money for that lady's so called invention. lol
