Great tutorial. I bought a used set of 94/95 GT axle plates (caliper adapter brackets) with anti-moan brackets for a 5-lug swap on my 93 Fox. My concern is that the axle plates don't have the offset like your North Race Car brackets. I plan on purchasing the Yukon 28 spline axles. Will those plates work, or should I get new ones? Thank you.
So basically if you have a stock ecm the Dakota fan controller is the best option for adding electric fans to a fox body mustang,
Do you know whether the tools needed for a rebuild are the same for the sn95 new edge mustangs? I have the old leaking compressor from my '01 GT that i'm considering rebuilding instead of scrapping. Thanks
@@bg1617 the new edge uses an FS10 compressor. While I haven’t rebuilt one yet (I have a ‘00 GT too) they look different so I imagine the process and tools required would be slightly different as well
How did you get the seat and gas tank off? I tried on my bike and i couldnt figure it out. The seat bolts either were in a place i couldnt reach or had a nut on the other side that was spinning
@@isaacwatanabe9599 it’s been a while but if I recall the ignition key fit into one of the locks at the rear and when you turned it it unlocked the helmet lock and the seat. Then you could lift the seat up. Once the seat was out you could lift the tank from the rear up

@Mustang5L5 would that conversion work on a 85 GT?
@ my understanding is the drum brakes and axle length is the same between the fox 7.5” and 8.8. So any of the disk brake conversions and such should be the same regardless. I’ve never done it or seen it done on a 7.5” however but i am 95% sure the parts would work.
I have this exact bike!!
Can you just use the stock fox power steering pump with reservoir?
Yes you can.
Nice video, cleanest underbody Ford mustang I have seen so far.
this is good info man i was wondering if a simple cheep signal generator would control one of these things.

Will this work if you have no keys programmed at all. I lost my keys
Yes. The process erases all known keys and starts from scratch. The catch is you need to program at least 2 good keys.
@@Mustang5L5 awesome, that was my plan is to get to new blanks and do them both. And thank you for the help
@@Mustang5L5 it is for a 2006 ford taurus. That should be fine to do no?
@@dronedoutrc5970 I don’t know exactly as I’ve only done this on 99-04 Mustang. However some folks are chiming in and saying it works on other vehicles too. Since you don’t have any programmed keys anyway, I assume you don’t have much to lose here
sounds really cool, almost has a 2 stroke outboard sound to the idle.
The problem with the flowmasters is the drone inside the cabin at 1800-2000 rpm, crusing speed. This is where other exhaust makers have done a better job. Borla, magnaflow, steeda etc. Of course it's the flowmaster chambered muffler design that makes that great sound. Cabin drone is the price you pay to have it.
@@ricko3242 agree 100%. I certainly didn’t hate the Flowmasters. I just got tired of the drone. Still rank up there as a great sounding exhaust IMHO.
Hey! Thanks for the video! Could you help to understand the difference between Mazda's 21493-C370B and Infiniti's 21493-B210B controllers? Are they the same inside? Can I use Infiniti's for my Mazda? thanks
They operate similarly, but I was never able to get a solid answer on their differences. Since these modules are provided to OEM's, the specs aren't exactly public. In my testing, i've found that the PWN values needed to operate them are very slightly different. Not but much. I don't have enough of them to test to see if that is just variability between each unit, or if that slight difference is by design.
@@Mustang5L5 thanks for the answer!

Where do you get the capacitors ??? Please help can't find where to buy them
@@jaymartin5434 on eBay search “mustang ECU capacitors” and you’ll see several vendors selling the caps are kits for these ECU. If you wanted to buy them separately in bulk you’d have to spec them out on mouser or digikey or Amazon.
1989 2.3L 4cyl 6K tach, installing a v8 7k tach as the 2.3L is built, and balanced to run over 7k. Would you have any input on going the opposite direction?
@@Fredness2300 unfortunately I wouldn’t be able to quote a resistor value to go the opposite direction. I’d have to play around with it on a bench. Logically you would assume that you can just measure the resistor on the 6k tach and install one on the 7k tach but I found the values to differ slightly. I’d had to set it up on a bench and play around with the frequency generator and a variable resistor installed to figure out a starting point. Not sure if I can actually get to this anytime soon
Thank you for the video. Im gonna re- cap my Aerostar board today. I ordered a ' rebuilt' unit off RockAuto supposed to be remanufactured by Blue Streak. Put that board in and screwed around for at least two weeks replacing all kinds of sensors and the alternator only to find out it was my new PCM! Took that board out and discovered NOTHING had been done... original caps and the dust that blows in through the back of the test port. So much for ' reflowing' the board in a wave soldering machine. It's pretty bad when you have to fix your own shit on the component level. Let it be known that I go outta my way to source as much US Motorcraft and factory NOS stuff for this van cause I've been disappointed before. how is the car drone wise? i know the flowmasters drone like a bitch. what about the borla?
Definitely not as much. With the Flow masters you could find the right RPM and it just resonated in the interior. The Borla are nowhere near the level of drone that the flows have, but there is a little. If you get on the throttle, they are still loud mufflers. Overall it's just a huge reduction in the level of drone, and a much more quieter idle and when cruising around down being gentle on the gas. WOT sounds amazing.

Does it have to be controlled with that (Amazon) controller? Is there a way to make it automatic to increase with more temperature, or to have it at two (or more) fixed speeds? I retrofitted a Mercedes W221 600W fan on my old Mercedes. Max speed takes like 46 amps and it will not live for long if full speed engages a lot or when it's not needed.
It needs to be controlled by some sort of external controller. I used that Amazon controller to demonstrate, but really this is probably geared more to folks with an aftermarket ECU like Holley or Megasquirt that can create a PWM signal output on a spare output channel. This unit really can't be used as a standalone controller.
On my car we checked continuity between 46 & 40/60 like you stated. Test came back good, but we are hesitant to open up the case because the car was tuned years ago and it appears as though when the chip was burned in and cut into the side of the box and is sticking out. Before opening it, is there anything else I can test for with just the pins?
Great information on the Fox Mustang ECU and a big thanks for sharing this.
Nice Hi Ave 😁 One of that ❤ nice bike
Wow, great video. Really got into detail with it all to make me understand I have a question, maybe you could answer, I have a1987 ford f150 No start issue, it cranks. I have spark when I spray starting fluid into the intake. She starts up but stalls, My truck is equipped with 2 fuel tanks. When I turn the ignition on I can hear the fuel tank pump prime itself for either tank i have selected. Can this computer? Be causing that no start issue with the fuel. Like I said, I could hear everything kicking in it's just not starting. I would appreciate if you could get back to me if you feel this is my issue and maybe let me know where to look the computer. For my issue. Thank you so much
I don't think i'd immediately suspect the computer yet. I'd still look at the fuel system and troubleshoot that like checking for fuel pressure on the rail. I'd be looking to see if the pump can supply pressure to the engine, and if the injectors are getting signals to spray fuel. Could be a wiring issue, could be a failed fuel line from the tanks? Could be several things but I wouldn't blame the ECU just yet. In fact, with it priming the pump for 1-2 seconds and stopping, it's likely not the ECU unless it's a fuel injector issue. Still, i'd have to troubleshoot wiring first. On Mustangs, i've seen a similar issue causes when the little S-hose on the fuel pump splits in the tank. Pump primes, but no pressure at the rail.
Thank you so much for getting back to me, I just not sure what the actual computer does for my issue. But reading your text back to me kinda helps me out. I'm glad that you feel. Maybe it's not the the computer.I'll look elsewhere, I change the fuel pressure regulator and the truck started, but I think it was because it still had some starting fluid in it.From the last time I tried to start it, but it wound up dying on me and wouldn't start again after that
What year Taurus has the 38 mm caliper ?
@@ragfoxninetre none as far as I know. The 38mm Varga was only used on the 94-04 SN95
Worked great! I was hesitant to hit erase all keys but it worked perfectly!
I can't seem to even get into the cylinder balance test mode. After all the R-codes have been pulled , I hit the throttle about half way down as you did. I don't notice any change in RPM and after about 2 min I get one square dot and the idle drops as if it's disconnected. No cylinder codes at all. It's an 88 F250.
F150/F250 would be speed density batch fire injection. They fire the entire bank of injectors at the same time. It would be unable to disable the individual injectors to perform the cylinder balance test.
You couldve run a air ride on the escalade suspension, you shouldn't be surprised but they make it for them
Awesome Video, thanks for making.
Do you recommend certain capacitors to replace these with brand wise?
I don't have a preferred brand but my preferred Vendors are Digikey and Mouser. I typically get all my electronics components there vs Amazon or Ebay. It's a little more $$$ but I feel better about the quality of the components those vendors sell.
@@Mustang5L5 even chasing idle issue for 3-4 days then after running just crank no start. Pulled ecu and capacitors are leaking 👌👌👌
@@matthopkins1107 At this point, i just assume every ECU that hasn't been repaired, probably should be repaired as a proactive measure. Good luck!

Thanks for posting this. Would I be able to do this in an 86? I know the interior is different. Would I just have an exposed bracket?
Honestly, i'm not too sure. I would imagine that all of the 84-89 cars with the split fold rear seat have similar sheet metal, but the interior panels pre-1990 definitely won't fit with the brackets. It might take some clever parts selection to make it look OE if you are leaving the original '86 interior mostly intact.
@@Mustang5L5 Okay, that's what I was thinking. I might need to get some custom work done to make the interior look decent. Thank you.
@@MN-vw2lo Yeah, not a whole lot of folks doing this so not a ton of info with regards to some of the changes needed with various years. That's kinda why i did the video to at least give folks an idea what to expect with regards to welding in the braces. Everything beyond that, just need to get creative. Good luck sir
Great video, question, this is PWM so, can it have a sensor connected to the radiator and sense the tempature to then build up or down the fan speed?
No. This controller requires a PWM signal from another device like an aftermarket (or factory) ECU or an arduino. Something needs to take the temp sensor signal, and other inputs like AC command, WOT, etc and convert that into a PWM signal that this unit can use. A stand-along controller would be great, but as far as I know nobody makes one design to output a PWM signal.
@@Mustang5L5 can you create a temperature sensor directly for it without an ECU? thanks
@@yellowjoe.2000 No. Temp sensors work off resistance. This controller works off a pulsing voltage signal. The faster or slow the pulse, the higher or lower the fan speed will be. You need something to convert a resistance signal from a temp sensor over to a PWM voltage signal.
awesome video! thank you. so it seems the infiniti PWM controller is compact small and can work with any decent electric fan?
Based on Infinti wiring diagrams I've looked at, it appears to be rated to around 50 amps. Given that it has a soft-start feature, I never saw anywhere near that with this fan setup. This was about 25 amps running 2 fans.
good info thanks
Those engines are indestructible
