Legend
Using his teaching, I shot for two hours from free throw line and did not miss
Bottom line, it's more effort by far than it is worth.
That slow old guy at the park that you can't leave open....lol
Lebron needs to do that free throw routine. 2 step one handed shot
This did not help
All the kids in these comments (maybe theyre not kids anymore) speaking bad on Dave are absolute complete morons, utterly stupid. This guy's tips are amazing. He simplifies shot mechanics into simple, repeatable, easy, and *effective* steps. The lesson is on shooting FORM, and the essense of shooting form is a one handed shot. NO good shooter ever shoots with two hands, unless they are dunking or shooting a granny shot or something. And no, a thumb flick (which actually complicates your shot) doesnt count as a two handed shot.
Typical New Yorker just your yap the whole time and never shows what he can do Not one technique
Awesome !!!
He’s passionate that’s why he’s screaming
Nathan Robinson exactly
I think this man is widely regarded because of the many shooting records he holds. His resume isn’t bad at all but I see what you guys are saying in comments. He seems to favor shooting with just one hand though but how would you control the ball in game situations? I would like to see how he operates in game situations.
3 years later but youre guide or balance hand
It’s called a guide hand for a reason, every nba player shoots with one hand
it looks like he blocks his eye with the ball. no shooting window?
Anyone else from Mr. Kowit lol
i met him
why does Mr.Hopla talk like he is angry all the time?
i dont understant why people say his form is only for shooting open shots. why cant you shoot this way off the dribble or contested. it looks pretty standard to me. similar to patty mills imo.
at 4:50 he says this is the single most important thing in shooting the elbow... something i couldnt hear him. is he saying the 90% angle is the most important?
best in the business gotta learn from him
Lol I love the idiots who keep saying he wouldn't do well in a proper game. Do you think Popavich would do well in a real game? No, none of the coaches would, but their job is to read, learn and the teach. That takes a strong mind and not necessarily a strong body. Comment section is full of fucking idiots man.
Could someone do a summary for this? XD
He yells at everybody and he never misses. Ever.
Guy is one of the best coaches for sure
title should be how to be a deuchebag
Nazi drill instructor. Stretch that right arm out! Salute ze rrrim!!
Terrible audio. Why is he screaming all the time? Is he a nazi basketball drill sergeant?
+hansjakobli78 hes not wearing a microphone in a large gym
his touch is dirtyyy
how is he shooting with the seams every time?
Have you found the answer in 7 years, my friend?
@@jb8785 just shoot the fucking ball, none of this shit matters but to rep rep rep game situation shots with game intensity and alot of reps standing and shooting catch and shoots shots with no heart rate worth shit
Sorry to break it to you Dave, but you turn your feet when you shoot. Just sayin
this guys a genius
Is there a reason he only shoots with one hand? How are you gonna shoot with one hand and then say you have to control the ball
He is shooting with one hand in order to teach proper shooting form aka how your shooting hand should operate during the shot, cause you essentially shoot with one hand/arm anyway. The other hand is just there to provide support/balance when bringing the ball up for the shot in a game situation and it isn't meant to be used in the actual act of shooting.
man that guy's old school
more like these coach
For yall who think he cant shoot in a game scinero he played in college nba and highschool check the stats
Never sued in the nba, you probably don't even know how tall he is, he played in Ireland. Get your facts straight and you should be the one checking the stats
Never played in the nba because of his height. He played in Ireland before he was hired by the Knicks. If anybody needs to be getting their facts straight, it's you.
JSMOOTH For retards: there are no height restrictions either in NBA or any other basketball league
lol hes like 5'10 or some shit how many white guys do you see in the nba under 6'3 lmfao thats probablythe reason why hes not in the nba.
lets see him do this in real game speed situations
you act like his form is unorthodox lol. its a very standard shot form
Hold my beer, I can do better
Shaq dislike this video!
This guy is good and i respect what he is doing but i might be wrong i have not seen videos of him teaching this in a game scenario when you're tired or of the dribble.
his form is very standard. im not sure what you mean.
Do the knicks still have this guy on their staff. if not they should
Dave Hopla is still apart of the coaching staff, it's just unfortunate that the team is not executing as well
Your Elbow is at an exact right angle.
Anyone else getting a Dennis Hopper vibe from this guy? Pop quiz, hotshot.
Boom doom didi budum dum Paa paa tee tee tee daa paa 😅👌
haha totally good one
He is 55........ he wouldn't do any good in the NBA unless the new Commissioner makes the games half court....
thanks for the videos, hopla a MASTER. He stay in Argentina this year, really amazing you tecnique.
Shooting is only a part of the game. 99% shooting and no fitness means nothing.
How come it seems like he only takes shots when he's head on with the goal? That's rare in a game. Usually, you're at the side or something. Not straight on with the goal.
so he doesnt have to chase his misses all over the place? oh wait he never misses. good question.
The most important thing to learn from him is the importance of consistency. He doesn't have "perfect" form (even if he thinks he does because of his results). What he does works for him and its a shame he teaches it in Nazi fashion, when what he should really be drilling in is the importance of consistency. His jump is rigid (as opposed to the flowing, quick release shots you see in the NBA). There's a reason he's a coach and not a player. Right? You'd think 99% shooting is worth a spot?
his form is as standard as it comes. Not everybody shoots like steph curry you know. flowy and quick release is all steph and perhaps a more difficult style to perfect.
is your elbow exactly a right angle or close
Please! :)
7:10 thanks
LEGOAT JAMES Lebron = an unskilled loser
No wonder Carmelo was shooting lights out this year
