    for service manager SCSM, if you are not using it to manage any device (not use for asset management), does it mean it doesn;t require any ML license at all, no need to have license for managing any user? because this is a help desk system, supposing you need to import the AD users into the system, as well as AD users can logon to the self service portal. Thanks

    • @SAMexpertTV
      @SAMexpertTV 15 дней назад

      It has its own CML, which is either per device or user. The most logical conclusion is that it requires User CMLs.

    1. How do I determine whether Standard or Datacenter edition is more economical? For a server with 13 or more OSEs or Windows Server Containers with Hyper-V isolation, Datacenter edition is recommended. Reference from Microsoft FAQ, it is 13 VMs to be considered as break-even between DC and Std. In your Video it is 7. Please clarify

    I have small company with 30 pc users and still growing. Looking at the hpe proliant dl385 gen 11 for running reckon account hosted. Looking to run VMs on the server for remote access from other branch with 10 pc users. Windows server 2022 standard. What license do I need? Also is virtualisation different license from the windows server 2022 license? Do I buy the windows server 2022 license separate from the user licenses and also separate from the virtual machines license? Or maybe someone can recommend the right solution if I am confused?

    I came accross your video when doing a YT search, and this is probably the best video I've seen so far on that topic and by a lot. It's a great video, thank you so much. Please, let me understand more clearly, to remove my language barrier (I'm French Canadian). Let's say I have an SCCM Server (Now MECM), and I want to deploy the SCCM Client to other servers in my infrastructure to manage the updates using the SCCM, do I need to buy a simple Licence CAL or I'm stuck to buy the Entire System Center Suite for all cores for these servers I want to manage using my SCCM? I'm not using any other System Center Products, only the SCCM Part. So much confusion in that topic, very hard to find the right source for that. Thanks!

    • @SAMexpertTV
      @SAMexpertTV Месяц назад

      Let me try and simplify this: - If you manage servers, you need full System Center licences for the servers you manage. - If you manage client OS, there are different requirements. Not "Simple CALs" but similar to CALs. In your case, unfortunately, you need full System Center licences. If you manage every server, it's cheaper to consider upgrading Windows Server licences to CIS licenses.

      @SAMexpertTV from our microsoft accounts manager and CSAM. We use Windows Data Center in our environment. I will ask them again and share the details

    • @SAMexpertTV
      @SAMexpertTV 2 месяца назад

      @jkaduda the only official rule book is Product Terms. Your account manager cannot change the rules. EAS is subscription Enterprise Agreement. It changes nothing. Your Windows Server CALs probably come bundled inside other licenses like CAL suites or M365 subscriptions. But they are still CALs. The only exceptions are Azure, SPLA, and “license included” CSP Hosting services.

    They likely got a good discount when they migrated everything. They can't and should not expect discounts every time they renew. The ask for more discounts while taking into account existing spend is not realistic. Would they offer discounts based off existing spend to their customers at every renewal? I highly doubt it. Talk to AWS or any other cloud provider similar to Azure. You will get the same deal. So at the end of the day the enterprise you are talking about is asking for more than needs to be given based off the market standard.

    Hi Alex How to buy a perpetual license (paid over a fixed term and perpetual license ownership) as opposed to the licensing model where you pay an annual cost indefinitely? This was an amazing video. I’ve watched it twice but unable to find answer to my question.

    • @SAMexpertTV
      @SAMexpertTV 2 месяца назад

      I assume you are talking about SQL Server licences. Perpetual licenses are available through CSP: www.microsoft.com/licensing/terms/productoffering/SQLServer/MCA However, please watch this training once again and see if you may need a subscription license instead. Because perpetual SQL Server 2022 licenses lack VM mobility, SQL Failover, and even virtualisation rights. If you are in Europe and you want to run SQL 2019 or earlier, virtualisation rights can be obtained by buying a second-hand license. Also, perpetual licences require one upfront payment, there is no "over a fixed term" payment option.

    • @SAMexpertTV
      @SAMexpertTV 3 месяца назад

      There are at least 2 basic scenarios: Windows Server Datacenter without (or with) SA, and Windows Server Standard 2022 with SA. But that’s just the start.

    • @SAMexpertTV

      With this density of VMs you will probably pay less in the first scenario but it depends on the number of cores in the hosts. You need a calculator.

    Thanks Alex for these videos, such eye openers. I wanted your advise on WS2022 licensing. I'm planning on building a new VMware cluster with 4 hosts, each has 2 CPUs with 16 cores each. There would probably be 60 VMs running in this cluster. What's the best way to license these VMs with Windows Server 2022 Standard? If I understood this, I can do 8 x Windows Server 2022 DataCenter 16-Core (through CSP) to cover all cores and use the license key to activate all WS2022 Std VMs! or would it be cheaper to buy WS2022 Std for each VM? and how many to cover all 60 VMs? mind you, I would be using 2 vCPUs for each VM, some would have 1 vCPU and others would have 4 vCPUs. much appreciated!

    • @SAMexpertTV
