I love how he got the power to create shields. It's such a heroic quirk, and yet he's using it for villany. He could have chosen any quirk, but he picked a quirk that's supposed to be about protecting people and then used his intelligence to hurt people with it. It proves that everyones wrong about a quirk determining your path in life. Plus it feels like a nod to what he wanted to be and would have been if allowed: a hero. He would have BEEN a barrier and protected everyone around him, but everyone told him he wasn't good enough, that he was too weak to defend anyone, so instead of covering the people around him, he's lashing out at them, becoming a sword (swift, presise, actuate, and cutting) instead of a shield.
