From Office Cubicles to Deadly Dungeons: 'Primal Hunter' Unleashed
This series started so strong and then fell off the proverbial cliff in those last few books. Dang, it was such a huge letdown.
I can understand that mindset. I enjoyed the back half of the series, though i agree the front half was my favorite (Except for book 11. I loved that one).
I really like this series. The world-building is excellent, particularly including the way that Chatfield handles empire building*. I have yet to finish it, because the last two books are very short for their price. I'm hoping they go on sale at a price appropriate for their length. Both the last two books are longer than novellas, but not _much_ longer than novellas and I'd rather not spend two credits on Audible for something that's basically one book in length. That said, as soon as the price drops, I'm buying both books. * Another series that does this well is Ember Lane's Warlords of the Circle Sea, which I would strongly recommend if you haven't read it.
Mr. Doug! i hope you and your family are having a great holiday season. In regards to the last couple books, you are correct. They are on the shorter side which was a shame, though the anther did give us a great conclusion to the series. In regards to 'Ember Lane's Warlords of the Circle Sea, ' I will definitely be checking this out soon!
Have you heard of he who fights with monsters?
Absolutely great series! The latest book left us on such an interesting cliff hanger. Can't wait for the next installment.
I just finished book 1 on Audible and instantly bought 5 more tokens to get the rest. It is amazing :) So funny and well done.
You are going to love the rest of the series! I have never seen Funny Nihilism like this!
@FantasyInk funny nihilism, good description of my life lol. I'm looking forward to them
Best Audio Book PERIOD!! Not even a competition. Reading the books are just as great too. This is my literal favorite series ever and got me out of a multi year funk.
Completely agree! I can't wait until Feb. 11th when book 6 comes out!
Kingkiller chronicle would actually be a contender if Rothfuss would finish the 3rd BOOK!
You understand my pain...
RIP Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden. :(
I am hoping we will get 18 Months soon!
I prefer longer series, but I will be adding this to my list. Thanks for the videos brother.
A solid choice to have in the back pocket of the TBR!
Ooohh. This one caught my attention as well. I’m making a list of potential new series to last a few months.
Really looking forward to book 2!
This sounds interesting, I’ll give it a shot. Thanks brother
A great series to jump into! Pure Lit at it's finest.
Love DoTF. I’m on book 12 currently. Not my favorite series, but I did enjoy it. I love Survival Quest: The Way of the Shaman, Viridian Gate Online & Thousand Li series, these are my 3 fav. Thanks for the content my friend
I have checked out VGO before but did not get around to finishing it. I will be sure to look into Chaman and Li though!
@@FantasyInk Li is a cultivation series but it was well done. Not exactly litrpg but close. I’m sure you’ll enjoy shaman if you enjoyed DoTf. So many layers to the story.
I just finished the first book today and I am very impressed. Can't wait to continue.
That's awesome Caleb! It is a long journey but definitely worth it.
I fell in love with the series and I was so happy to hear there were 10 more books (at the time) and even more happy when I found out that it was still going!!!
Definitely one of the greats!
Bro have you read lord of mysteries
I tried searching for it on audible but I don't believe they have made an audiobook for it yet. When they do, let me know. I would be happy to review it.
Hello! Im new to the channel and have liked your videos so far. Im checking out Primal Hunter based on your recommendations. I dont know if you've heard of The Ten Realms series by Michael Chatfield but it got me into LitRPG and is great! It has 12 books. I will say that the first 3 are my favorite.
Hey there Rebeka! I really appreciate your interest in the channel. I hope you enjoy Primal Hunter!. About to download the first book of Ten Realms now. Tank you for the recommendations.
Dawg snort gun powder what
Not the healthiest option but it worked for the character's.
They are gunpowder mages it enhances their innate abilities. It’s essentially like if Coke gave superpowers
Great review man.
Really appreciate it Jairome!
Love the WI series
It's Fantastic!!
Where can I download the fifth book of the kings dark tidings
Kings Dark Tidings book 5 'Dragons and Demons' can be bought off amazon. There you can download the kindle version, use a credit for audible or buy the hardcover. I hope tha helps!
Nah, WoT is the right answer
Fair enough.
So, I've started and stopped this book several times. Coming off the fun reads that are the ACTOR books, I thought I'd give this one a go, but something about the writing feels disjointed, and I'm struggling to make it past Chapter 5. But, like you, the world does seem really interesting, so maybe I need to push through.
I can see what you mean when it comes to the writing being disjointed. Though, I believe it finds it's way near the middle of the book, similar to our MC.
GraphicAudio has a good adaptation, probably easier to get into than the books
Noooooo
What can I say, King's Dark Tidings is fantastic!
Wrong winner
Fair enough
Have you read Eric Carter series,Daniel Faust series and Black Magic Outlaw?
I can't say I have heard of any of these! I will definitly check them out though!
Did you see Seth McFarlane is doing a dungeon crawler carl tv show?
It was the best news I got this month!
I just started this book on audible so hoping it's a good choice. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I hope you liked this on! Some people love it, and some people don't. I hope you are one of the former!
Longest book series doesn't make it good. The characters are terrible, the story arcs aren't even really arcs. It just bounces around, explores a few things, and then forgets it ever happened. The author has no plan, no storyboard laid out, they just drink caffeine and type words. The author even went back and rewrote book one and it's still garbage. Author is a man hating ignoramus who goes by their 2012 4chan name.
Have you read the follow up series to Percy Jackson and the Olympains? Love how Rick Riordan mixes in new mytholgy and characters definitely worth a read/listen
I have read a few of his other series. Though not specifically on that follows Percy's journey. I will look into them though.
If you're a fan of whitty main flawed leads i would reccomend Skullduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy
Thanks for the recommendation! I will definitely look into this one!
I was waiting to see if they turned up, but i can't recommend his Dark Materials series by Phillip Pullmam enough if you've not read it.
I will definitely check it out! Thank you for the recommendation.
NOOOOOO cradle wins
Haha, most people agree with you on this one mate.
The poppy war ? I havnt read it but it bbeat "The Mother of Learning" ? Which is the one of the greatest novel of all time, imo. Damn
Mother of Learning is great! I really enjoyed the series. Though Poppy War is a great mix of Dark Eastern fantasy.
WoT is an all-time favorite for me. Haven’t read The Wandering Inn, but I’m very interested. To rank tWI over WoT - well, wow… lol. That’s a high compliment to it!
It is definitely a good series. I highly recommend you check it out!
Great timing, I am literally reading it right now (while having YT in the background). I am 25% in and enjoy it a lot so far. Lots of chuckles.
I actually don't like fish and seafood, which makes those descriptions of their delicious taste funny to me.
That is awesome. Glad I could help to solidify your decision a bit. In regards to the seafood, i am a big fan. it just happens to be... overdone (small gripe as I said though).
@@FantasyInk I am halfway through the second book and the one thing still kind of confusing me is the intelligence of his animal pals. One time they are able to plan and execute complex strategies (like the plan with Barry in the beginning) but than they are mostly animals again, just with a better communication. It is not horrible but unlike with BoC it seems not to progress directly. Still, it was my first 5 star book this year for me. 5 means the book has impressed me or was nourishment for my soul or made me think about it (or a combination).
I hope you read lord of mysteries it’s a Chinese web novel
Have not gotten to it yet, though maybe this upcoming week. I have a roundtrips coming up and if I can convince my buddy, I will try to make that the ook we pick.
Blocking others from saying "First" :P Intersting book cover... I've gotten into LitRPG with Dungeon Crawler Carl so something more slice of Life could be fun... Now I want a Xanth-style LitRPG
Then I HIGHLY recommend Beware of Chicken for Xanth-style andslice of life mix. Heretical fishing is the first blend of all three (including LitRPG). where as TWI only covers LIT and Slice of life. *Some make pretty decent arguments the TWI isn't LITRPG at all but tomato tomato
I hope you read lord of mysteries it’s a Chinese web novel
I will definitely add it to the TBR list!
The Wandering Inn > The Wheel of Time
A tough decision. But most of us agree with you!
KDT became my favorite series instantly. So much flavor from character to character. And Nick Podehl's voices for each character are wonderful if you are a Audiobook reader
I am glad someone else agrees. I cannot wait for book 6!
Dawn of the void is superb. It has a hyper real quality you don’t normally get in a LITRPG, it’s just as fantastical but grounded in real people with complicated lives. Tom Taylorson voices it in the audio book. I cannot overstate this. It is a masterclass performance. His range of voices, the depth of his voices, the fact that he can voice a character that sounds exactly like he’s described to look. The difference between his various voices is startling. And finally the main characters voice, the timber of it is something else. I became a Tom Taylorson Fan Boi and now tops my top 5 list of best voice actors. Astoundingly well done.
You are right on the money. He really got across the complete dread of the main characters.
cant wait for u to listen to more of twi! it just keeps getting better and better - which i'm sure you've already been made aware of countless times 😂 it's so surreal to look back at the audiobooks and realise how LITTLE they've covered in the innverse
ANother just dropped on audible. I can't wait to check it ou!
I've got just over 6hrs of the latest book: Hell's Wardens and OMG, it's WILD
The betrayal i felt when you bumped TWI! I've read Dungeon crawler carl and its good, but not the endless fun that is TWI. I'm willing to bet in a couple more books your feelings will change about that one. I havent read the jade or tidings so ill have to check those out. My expectations will be as high as possible though... I'm trusting you.
HAHA, you have my high hopes as well. I hope you enjoy GBS.
nice
Ain't it?
Good choices. I read all the series but Buymort and enjoyed them a lot. A few things: Dead Tired: The MC actually wanted to sleep till the heat death of the world, but when he gets awoken, his curious mind makes him take a stroll through the "new" world Reborn: Apocalypse has four book out, I am pretty sure. Recommendation as always: Apocalypse Redux
hanks for letting me know about the accidental misinformation! I appreciate it. And AR is fanastic!
@@FantasyInk You are welcome! And it is!
I still gonna recommend Apocalypse Redux
I actually have read AR and i is very good. Really enjoyed he last one that was published.
@@FantasyInk I am glad to hear you liked it!
I supported the author for many months on Patreon, but after spending a very, very long time on an arc I disliked immensely, I stopped reading and then stopped paying.
That's completely understandable! It is great you took the time to support in the first place!
@@FantasyInk Absolutely, right now I only support four authors on Patreon (authors of Path of Ascension, Primal Hunter, Savage Awakening and Beware of Chicken). I used to support DotF, Randidly and Divine Apostasy). Since I will up my working hours soon, I might add them or others again, though :)
I am reading Solo Leveling online I read the first to books and I plan to get through the rest this month before I watch the anime, so far the manga series is so good I am loving it 😊
Really glad you are enjoying it Crimson!
I just checked, I have it on my goodreads wishlist already. Considering I already have 253 books bought and downloaded, I am never sure when I get around to read something :D
Over 8 Euro for less than 350 pages is kinda steep, though, compared to other books. I guess I will buy it when I actually plan to read it ^^
Yeah, as i mentioned in the video, the length of the books are very short and it can rack up pretty quick. Maybe one day they will combine a few!
@@FantasyInk That would be great, I think! I recently read Something Something Arch Magus (I cannot remember the full title right now) and while it was equally short it was comparably inexpensive, so I bought all twelve books.
Never listened to greenbone saga, all ik is that boy Jason Asano built different so I’ll always put hwfwm top on a tier list, but I’ll have to give greenbone a listen
Greenbone is definitely urban fantasy, not LITrpg, though it is a fan favorite of mine. Cant wait for the next HWFWM book!
Totally agree
Same page then!
