Oh yeah on the whole kizaru can’t move faster than light because he is light so the one piece world is capped at light speed never makes sense to me because 1. There are so many feats and powerful cliffing in one piece that dents this plus people seem to forget that haki can suppress or enhance devil fruit powers so that you are not stuck at your base devil fruit power but can instead make it stronger. This has been shown many times and was literally stated by kaido himself when luffy turned gear 5 thus means that kizaru can move faster than light.

In the second round you forgot the deva paths king of hell move this heals the user and can protect them but can also kill those that lie if it grabs ur tongue. Now if we are assuming kiado is still drunk then he might not even be able to lie but also at the same time could slip up and die. And while we have never seen this move used on someone really strong as it is refeard to as the king of hell we can assume that u can’t escape it and that it can 1 shot anything regardless of durability.

I havent watched yet, but i tend to use verse equalization specifically for the purpose of having these ppl interact and not pulling a no limits fallacy. In the case of jjk for example, they say only cursed energy can exorcise cursed spirits. So what goku cant just one shot a cursed spirit?

Thank you, someone finally addressed this! I agree it is definitely possible to move faster than light, especially when the author intends it. I think the main abuse of the term is when people use it as a consequence of stacking linear multipliers while scaling. For example, if a character moves at lightning speed and has access to a 10x multiplier to their power, people will argue that that multiplier lets them move FTL even without such feats. The issue is that the multiplier is for their energy output, not their movement speed, and the energy to move relativistic scales nonlinearly. I do not think that it is controversial to point out that light speed characters tend to be more than 10x more powerful than lightning speed ones. However, a hax/magic that explicitly multiplies their numerical speed by 10 SHOULD make them FTL, just like you say. The other issue to address is how people rarely bring up the attack potency and durability consequences of speed. If a character can move themselves of an object at near or beyond light speed, then they should be able to inflict far more damage than they usually do. Like you said, it is definitely possible for skilled characters to avoid accidentally damaging the environment (like in DBZ) but a character who can casually accelerate to relativistic speed based on scaling rather than hax should never have difficulty breaking a hole in a nonmagical wall or surviving a bullet. This is more an issue of moving at relativistic speeds than light speeds and again is about whether a character is moving at light speed based on raw stats or hax. It could also be worth addressing the time travel implications of FTL, which could go hand in hand with precog hax. Finally, I think it is also worth mentioning how people will often use aim dodging feats as reaction FTL, which is more an issue with not interpreting the context or author intent correctly than with light speed, but still relevant.

If you have to change things and make things up for one of the characters to make the fight fair then you already know who wins. Verse equalization is the weirdest most boring thing ever, it’s less like an actual debate and more like six year olds just going “well my guy gets to have blah blah blah so your guy is gonna lose” Naruto does not and would not have haki. Luffy does not and would not have ki. Goku does not and would not have nin. Ichigo does not and would not have chakra. (These are all just examples, not who I think would win certain fights) Verse equalization, no matter how you try to word it, is the same thing as just going “well deku is actually gonna have the speed force to make this fight more fair, also we’re gonna cut narutos legs off” If you have to change something to make the fight fair, you already know who wins, and there’s no point in the debate.

Are there instances where attacks can be “light-based” without inherently moving at the speed of light? Like maybe characters in a series can produce elemental attacks, but said elements don’t share all the qualities of their natural counterparts?

I loved the video and thought it was very well thought out and thorough, but I'd like to note that you can easily scale scale people like Kaido and Luffy to MFTL and not just FTL because in pre timeskip luffy was dodging attacks from pacifistas witch were stated to be light speed and I believe that was also in base but even if it isn't in base luffy gets much faster post timeskip saying that light beams were too slow for him and thats at the begging of post timeskip in base. Gear 2 is a 5 times amp and gear 4 is stated to be several time stronger and because of how luffy gets stronger throughout post timeskip to Wano with a base version of him at the end of wano being stronger than a gear 4 version of him at the begging of wano he could easily be scaled to MFTL and as you said Kaido blitzed him also in egghead luffy says he is 100 times as stronger than himself him Sabaody when he was dodging pacifistas light beams

A lot of people also only go by how visually impressive feats are. People are way more comfortable giving Flashy Flash from One Punch Man FTL scaling than Luffy, even though they should actually be relative in speed. And yeah, that FEELS weird to say, but the numbers don't lie.

I wonder if adding the clarification that in the powerscaling community, speed is sometimes chopped into smaller categories like reaction speed, continuous combat speed, and travel speed. Just so it can be stated on the record that a character can have FTL reaction and combat speed, but regular human travel speed. For a One Piece example, that would be Zoro having FTL reactions during the Kuma fight, but he just has regular human travel speed. I'm not sure if such distinction would even persuade a real stickler on this subject, but could help at least some other people wrap there heads around how characters can have certain speed traits, but not others.

Kaido does dodge fatal attacks tho. Plus you can use Acoc to fedens yourself meaning they attacks won't touch kaido, and kaido does d9dge dangerous attacks like when luffy wanted to hit him with a Acoc Redhawks

I don't have any issues with characters moving at light speed. There are just a mountain of inconsistencies regarding certain characters and series if we assume lightspeed scaling is true. Kakashi is a lightning timer, yet he can't close a distance of three meters between himself and Pain within five seconds after he's been restrained. Even if we grant that the Akimichi duo needed all of four seconds to wrap up Pain, Kakashi still should have been able to kill him nearly 100,000 times over. Beyond that, Itachi is even faster than Kakashi, yet he couldn't dodge Kirin. The explicit reason given was that Kirin strikes at the speed of lightning, which makes it "unavoidable." Logically, Kakashi doesn't move at the speed of lightning. Now, this isn't regarding the speed of light, but it's an easy example of these kinds of logical failings. Light Fang may be a lightspeed attack, but Naruto's evasion looks more like he's dodging the speed of Madara's _neck_ rather than the beam itself. I think it's a weird one to get hung up on since Naruto has better feats than that anyway. In regards to Kuma, does his attack move at lightspeed, or does the lightspeed deflection of air _create_ the attack? That part is unclear, however his claim is that the attack is the shockwave, rather than the deflection itself. Not that I'm against Pad Cannon being a lightspeed attack necessarily, just that I think this could be something misinterpreted. Do Pacifista beams move at the speed of Kizaru's attacks, or are they energy weapons just _based_ on his powers? Besides that, in the manga Luffy is explicitly watching PX-5 fire a beam, and is still looking when he calls it slow. Even if he _hadn't been watching, that isn't a good argument. It's just to disprove the aim dodge, but then... how did he dodge it if he wasn't looking? In either case, he was likely using observation haki to predict the attacks. Besides that, if all powerful characters in One Piece are currently lightspeed, then Coup de Burst letting them escape exactly one kilometer out to sea would be all but irrelevant. On the note of the Sunny's sailing speed, they made it from Punk Hazard to Dressrosa in around 12 hours, with similar speed to 18th century brigantines (8.2 knots, or roughly 9.4 miles per hour). Doflamingo, who is ftl according to many, took over an hour at least to cover the same distance. Even though he mentions a large gap in the clouds partway, that should be irrelevant for a desperate hypothetical ftl Doflamingo, trying to cover roughly 113 miles. Again, there are better and more quantifiable lightspeed feats in the manga, especially Wano onwards. As an aside, why would Marco have any idea of how many islands there are in the world? No one has made a map of the entire world, and there's no way he could have possibly visited 10 to 20 million. Why is this a statement people are taking seriously?

Funny about what Naruto says is that Chakra is not even normal by its verse standards as its not even possible if not Kaguya eating from the god tree that is not from there world in the first place. So no wonder it doesnt exist in everyone, even amongst the people it exist which makes as well his words stupid and hypocritical as he literally has the highest amount of Chakra that even the author broke the power system for him to have because he is the chosen one.
