Why I carry a Glock 47 and not a Beretta M9A4
I liked my beretta M9A4, but for duty and civilian carry, I believe the Glock is a better choice. I made this decision after shooting a qualification test with both and training with both for a while. Put your thoughts in the comments.

    The trick to keep this pistol running like a top is to periodically remove the de cocker and firing pin and it's spring. Clean the firing pin, spring, and it's channel and apply a drop of gun oil. This will solve about 98 percent of the issues people have with M9's.

      lol, just pointing out basic improvements that others have noticed as well. It’s called user feedback and that’s how companies make improvements and therefore can provide a better product and value to customers. If I didn’t care about the platform being successful or not, I made the video suggesting small but important improvements so when they release a new generation it can hopefully be a bigger success. The gun market is extremely competitive and has very little room for not improving on existing platforms, especially ones that cost more than a typical gun in today’s market.

    Regarding the Langdon trigger kit: I would NOT modify the trigger on a duty gun. The gun writer Massad Ayoob, who has served as an expert witness in officer-involved and other shootings, argues against giving prosecutors or plaintiffs' attorneys the argument that you went out of your way to put a "hair trigger" on your gun. Even though it's easily rebuttable in court, why allow an attorney to even put the idea into a jury's head? Better to just get a Langdon Beretta that already has the trigger. Furthermore, I HAVE both the Langdon Beretta and the 92X Centurion. While the trigger on the Langdon is smoother and lighter, the difference is not enough to justify the time and expense of modifying the 92X, which comes with an excellent trigger. Also, I find the single action on the Langdon to be TOO light, especially for a duty gun, and especially if you keep your finger on the trigger between shots. The first couple of shots I took, the momentum of the slide slamming back into battery from the first double-action shot would pull the gun forward against my trigger finger, triggering a second, single-action shot--essentially "bump-firing" itself (I've since trained myself not to do that). And that was a non-stress situation. 😅

    • @Duty2Domicile
      @Duty2Domicile 16 дней назад

      In most cases I would agree not to change the trigger for a duty gun, but due to the long and heavier DA, if I can lighten that up a bit so I can shoot with better accuracy at a faster rate, I will definitely do that. The trigger only comes into play when a shot goes off that was not intentional. If the trigger is bumpfireing on you then you do have a good argument to go to stock. Better safe than sorry for sure in that case.

  • @georgegravette1132
    @georgegravette1132 17 дней назад

    I have essentially the same gun, as well as a number of other Beretta 92's. My Centurion did come with two 18-round magazines, but not the extra wraparound grip. It's a trade-off, I suppose. As to the rougher finish on the older mags: since I don't do competitions, I'm not interested in the extra microsecond or so that the rougher finish might cost me in a reload. However, I do prefer a magazine that will NOT shoot out of the mag well if I've inadvertently bumped the mag release while sitting in, say, a patrol car (it happens), or if I've failed to properly slam the magazine home during a reload.

    Great review! I’m not in the market as I started with an M9, tried just about everything else in 20 years and eventually settled back on the 92 platform: 92A1 bedside, M9 USPSA and a slide lock 92FS as the fun gun host to a Knights wipe can. Prefer Beretta 15rd mags for all except competition. Not a fan of the couple extra mm baseplate on the higher std caps. Just doesn’t look as good imo. Happy you shoot DA as well as SA. So many just don’t give DA a chance. I agree, mist people shoot DA better to begin with. At least in my experience.

    @salem2772 27 дней назад

    I like a good Beretta 92. But Glock would probably be my go to since it was the first handgun I shot. For what it is worth, I think that DA trigger can help make a better marksman when properly mastered.

    • @Duty2Domicile
      @Duty2Domicile 25 дней назад

      Definitely agree. I will definitely try to get another one sometime in the future. The DA triggers does help shooters with a good grip and trigger press, this has definitely translated to better control on other platforms

    all good points. Hard to argue with such a proven platform and at a certain point I think it just comes down to personal preference & your personal comfort/proficiency with the platform. this reminds me of a meme i saw showing how gun folks usually start with something like a glock, go through a series of fancy guns only to end back up where they started with with a renewed appreciation for simplicity and solid fundamentals. Keep up the good vids bro

      Thanks man, I appreciate it. Glock is definitely not known for “doing the work for you” like some 1911s out there, but it’s mechanically accurate and will do its job if the shooter does his. I believe one of the pro shooters said something to the effect of “Glocks are guns that will help you improve your skills vs other tricked out race guns that will help you with your scores”. I think there is a lot truth in that statement.

    I was at a pistol class 2 weeks ago led by a very well-known instructor. He was shooting a PDP, the assistant instructor was shooting a Glock 17, the majority of the class was shooting Glocks of course because most were LE, local and federal. Aside from the instructors, the best results (speed and accuracy) over three-days of shooting were consistently coming from people with DA/SA (Beretta's and CZ) pistols and SA (2011's) pistols, most from concealment. That first shot with a Glock might be fast but it takes more effort for it to be accurate (especially cold) than an M9A4/92. Long Time Glock owner.

    • @Duty2Domicile
      @Duty2Domicile 29 дней назад

      I believe training can get a person faster through the first shot on the berettas, but it’s that second shot transition that usually requires concentration (I know I did not state this in this video), it’s easy to throw the 2nd shot then get back on with the 3rd because of that trigger transition. I did LE qualifications with the PDP, M9A4, Glocks, Sig 228, 320 and M18s. All did well, but for some reason when one handed shooting drills came in, the Glocks and the PDP did the best for me. I do have a soft spot in my heart for the berettas and would like to get a resident evil themed one when I can 😂

    • @oleboy7615
      @oleboy7615 19 дней назад

      So first, I call BS on the assertion that those shooting best (speed and accuracy) were doing so b/c they were shooting with DA/SA pistols. Your assertion is without merit as shooting fast and accurate is directly related to training over tool. The facts support that those who train and are competent shooters shoot faster and more consistently with striker fire pistols. Also, those with no shooting experience at all adapt to the striker fire platforms much easier than DA/SA platforms. There are a number of reasons striker fire pistols dominate the professional and commercial ranks today, one of which is ease of use. This is an irrefutable fact.

    • @SectionChief
      @SectionChief 19 дней назад

      @@oleboy7615 You can call BS all you want about something you were not physically attending or did not see for yourself; My only assertion was what happened at a 3-day class, so that has plenty of merit. I’ve heard about those issues, but I know of a lot of LEOs that run the MOS plates that have thousands of rounds used without issues with their gen 5. I don’t know if Glock changed the material slightly at one time or if they put a better alloy in the blue label models for the plates. It’s possible that over tightening could be a possibility but I have no evidence to support that theory. I will update the channel if mine fails.

      I don’t know why you would think that I hate berettas. I simply point out possible improvements that have also been brought up by others in the past. If I feel a share edge where there should not be, like along the beaver tail and alongside the trigger guard, it’s good for beretta and others to know it’s an issue. If the gun was perfect there would be no need for companies like LTT who exist to make improvements to these existing platforms. I will point out things with every company that has obviously overlooked an issue. Some companies know about these issues, but unless enough people give feedback, they won’t change anything to benefit the customer. I also like Glocks a lot and believe they are the standard for duty pistols, but I will also point out things they could improve upon. If I hated Beretta, I would not make other videos saying how much I liked them for their other qualities. I did unfortunately sell the M9A4 a little while ago. I will make another video in the future explaining why. But I will attempt to buy a full length M9A4 at a later time if that’s any indication of if I like them or not.

    It could be the magazine body just needs to be tweeked a little. I had one that was closed too much and would not let the follower go to the top of the mag. Yours seems like the mag body is open to much and letting the follower go too high. I would mark that mag with a piece of tape, then disassemble it and other good mag a measure with both with calipers. You can use a rubber mallet or a vice to close the mag body. If it is the follower then, Midwest Gun Works or Numrich Gun Parts should have them in stock.

    In most holsters if you order the full size holster it will fit the centurion just fine. Because the frame and rail and light are in the exact same spot as the frame is the same size. You just have a slightly longer holster than you need which is negligible. I don’t even know why the centurion exists. You can run a glock 26 in the same holster as a 17 but not with a light. Lights you need the same frame size. M9-A4 is not a great platform for red dots. Pretty well known. If you do run it, thats you sight. Point shoot after that.

      Outcomes of wars are determined by political strategy, battles are determined by soldiers and their tactics. American soldiers have won every major battle since WW2. It’s still wise to look at the how and why when it comes to the military’s tactics and gear as they do well at their job. But we still need to understand what works for them is not always the right fit for a person or small group that are not logistically supported. With that, what we can learn from the military is a good base knowledge to adapt the parts that do pertain to your situation and disregard the other parts that don’t.

      It’s good to versify for different situations. Some people hate on micro rigs, but it’s all mission and environment dependent. They can be extremely useful if speed of movement is your ultimate concern or if you only have a few magazines left to where more pouches don’t do much good. Thank you for your view and the comments.

      Lunar Concepts Secondaries and some wings for under them, now you have a big ass chest rig with everything you would ever need, and its all attached to your original micro rig in under 90 seconds 😁

    Great points! Great video! Thank you for sharing with us! We didn't have plate carriers, in the Army Infantry, back in '80 - '84! Now with all of my ailments, I'm not humping, let alone running, anywhere! I don't move through the trees, like a ghost, anymore! But, still a great video!

      Thank you for the views and your comments. It helps keep the channel going. I can’t wait to see what infantrymen will carry 20 years from now, probably small drones and drone defenses stuff I suspect.

    I recommend safe life... People say these are trash for whatever dumb reason.. but they offer more protection surface than your standard carrier... Their also lightweight and cant stop a 50bmg.. the impact of a 50 may still ☠️☠️ you but it stops it.. this means you can fake multiple 556/762 and thr lost youll get is a sore chest.. i have a tactical and concealable carrier... If its civil war then you wouldnt want to advertise the armor however if the unrest is an invasion from russia or china youll want to be as decked out in the badass gear as much as possible.. as far as clothes youll want winter and spring clothes because i highly douby we will receive any help... Gloves i would go as far as kitchen cutting gloves they are thinner and cut resistant allowing you to get your fat fingers into a trigger well.. wool socks

      Those things are all great to have in a pack and needed for a sustainable trip. I wouldn’t be worried about an invasion from Russia or china though, they seriously lack the logistics to make a land invasion and would be met with more resistance than they would find worth it, but a civil collapse is very possible if the wrong things happen at the right time. I say the most tactical kit for long term survival is a wood burning stove and a good water source. If you can’t cook or boil water, then any fight will be 10x harder to win. I seen the beretta comp. Looks very effective, I just didn’t like the looks of it. I know how ridiculous that sounds, but it’s a factor for me😂
