Flow, Tech, and Air at Angel Fire Bike Park - Raw MTB
Had a sweet day riding mountain bikes at Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico. This mountain is established as one of, if not the best bike park in the southwest and I'd have trouble disagreeing. This mountain has endless trails and a perfect slope for a bike park. At around 2000 vertical feet and a mellow pitch, Angel Fire's flow and jump trails are some of the best I have ever ridden. The trails I ride in this video are Turbo diesel, Jazz Hands, World Cup, Pepper Spray and Boulder Dash. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to riding at Angel Fire

Why Taos Bike Park Could Be the BEST Mountain Biking in New Mexico

The resort of Taos Ski Valley is better known for it's world class skiing, but beneath the snow lies many surprises. Full of great dirt and unique terrain, find out why this place could be some of the best mountain bike riding in the entire state of New Mexico.
Fly Fishing Taos Ski Valley - Backyard Browns
Просмотров 50728 дней назад
The Rio Hondo flows from it's headwaters in Taos Ski Valley down through the canyon along the highway towards the Rio Grande. It holds many healthy brown trout eager to grab a well presented fly and has a few surprises in it's deepest holes. I have the great privilege of living alongside it and getting to walk to the stream whenever I'd like. Hope you enjoy
Fishing the Yellowstone River for Cutthroat and Rainbows

A trip up to Montana brought my good friend Wylie and I together for a Yellowstone river fishing day. There were countless birds of prey, and although the river is extremely low, a few fish were landed into the boat. Huge shoutout to Wylie for rowing and putting me on the spots! Hope you enjoy the views and the video.

The Valle Vidal; Tthe Valley of Life, opened up for fishing on July 1st for the first time in 2024. Made the trip north to Costilla with the hopes of catching some beautiful native Rio Grande Cutthroat. Hope you enjoy!
Fishing for BIG brown trout [Epic Dry Fly Eats]

An all time epic day of fishing strictly chubbies. I didn't know this river held the sort of fish that it did and was blown away while fishing here on a whim. Hope you enjoy all the epic eats!
New Mexico Bushwack Brown Trout

Fished the south fork of the Rio Hondo, a tough place to access with good fishing. Made it back here via recreational easement in the stream bed and had decent success fishing a chubby. This is Red Chile Water meaning there are tackle restrictions: one artificial fly with a single barbless hook in hopes to preserve the native cutthroat population.
New Mexico High Country Brook Trout

Fly fishing the Rio Vallecitos headwaters near Hopewell Lake. It was a rugged drive down to the river, but well worth the effort. Every good hole had colored up wild brook trout that although spooky, would happily take a well placed fly.
Skiing Rocks For Brains Couloir, Cameron Pass, CO

April 19th backcountry skiing in Cameron Pass, Colorado. Such an interesting couloir and certainly lived up to it's name. There were plenty of rocks in the surface of the snow, but not enough to keep us from skiing it. Good group and good snow conditions, a ripping time no doubt.

April 18th dust on crust powder day in RMNP. Good backcountry skiing with a great group, Zack and Spencer. It was my first time in this zone and we got it mostly to ourselves. The epic undercast made this a really special day in the mountains.
Taos BLUEBIRD POWDER DAY

After 10 inches overnight and a 30 inch storm total, the skies went blue and new terrain opened up for the best days of the season riding with my buddy Dean. Runs skied: St. Bernard, R&R, Hidalgo, Ruby Gully, Waterfowl, $ slot, Wild West, Pierres, and Hannes Schneider.
Okay so I think it is unfair to say that the trails are lacking maintenance because when I rode them a few months ago I saw active raking of loose material - on the BLUE TRAILS. this is important. the character of the soil on those exposed trails is such that they are always going to be gravelly and loose. however, the VERY few advanced trails are cut in amongst the trees and are delightful. If Taos Ski Valley corporation wants to get MTB money, they would do well to cater to the technical steep terrain and provide something like BC slabs and interesting forest features, like what is shown in this video. There is potential there for sure. Also I have to comment: If Taos priced themselves at a quarter of what Angel Fire lift tickets go for, it would be worth a day's visit. As of now it's a complete ripoff compared to their competition
I couldn’t have said it better myself. The tech and the slabs are the the best thing here and definitely could draw in wayy more advanced riders. The 50$ lift ticket for 8 trails vs 70$ for over 30 trails at AF does make it a tough visit to Taos. 3 more tech trails, tickets at like 40-45$ would draw in a lot more people than what currently visits. Also not to mention the complete shut down of the mountain the moment the leaves start to pop and people show up wanting to ride the lifts but there is 0 things open to do. Has potential, needs work. Appreciate your comment on the post!
dude, this video deserves so much more than 580 views!! This is so rad
Dude I hit that creek this July! Fantastic place
@@nmflyfisher awesome man! Such a slept on little creek, always a fun technical fish 🤙
@@derek_mit yes sir many flies lost on that one😂
Huge shout out for making the most of a local resource. I rode Angel Fire a few days this summer and it's polished. A lot of great stuff going on, but it's kind of a known entity. Rode Deer Valley late season and it was absolutely pitted. I was kinda bummed to have spent the money to be honest. Having a place roughly to yourself seems pretty rad.
AF does a great job, they’ve got so many more visitors that the trails definitely see more use, but they continuously are improving various trails and it makes a world of difference. Total hear ya about DV, and in Taos, there weren’t breaking bumps on any trails, simply not enough folks using the park. Even with the things that could be improved, being the only person riding the whole mountain is definitely awesome. 🤙
Worst bike park I've been to. I agree with everything you said. The potential is there. But it needs more time, (years) more intention and more rider input.
Yes, yes, yes. More intention and rider input would transform this mountain. Hopefully they’ll start making some efforts for that soon.
Awsome dude
Excellent casting in narrow spots!
Thank you!
The fish with the missing fins appear to be stocked as well as the first fish with the unnatural looking tail.
@@kingsleyzissou2356 definitely. They did a fish kill a few years back and reintroduced the cutthroat back into the river. I’d guess that all but the smallest fish have been stocked in here.
Great video! I subbed to your channel. All the best from Argentina.

is there any lodging nearby or do most people just camp?
Definitely no lodging nearby! Camping in the Rio Costilla park section outside of the park, as well as 2 campgrounds further into the park
Looks like Rio Costilla! Caught my first fish on fly tackle 2 weeks ago there :)
Congratulations! And ding ding ding! Such a beautiful area.
great action on the fly...nice camera work too!

Is there bears in this place?
Only black bears. Seen a couple and they were very timid.

Nice bud! Was that your back up against the rappel at the top? How'd it look? I'm thinking of going in from the top
Thanks! We booted up the couloir, but if the rappel is the little 5-8 ft choke point cliff in the couloir, it was looking good. Snow almost connecting the cliff bottom and top. We stopped under the big overhanging rock, everything was filled in real good.
