My Maglite story..Bought two ML300L (four D Cell LED Maglites) direct from the company. Both used for walking dogs around the block. After seven months, one of them failed and Maglite would not honor their warranty. The company stated there was no way it was a defect on their part. Never again!

dang Ray O Vac High Energy C cells leaked all inside my ML25LT MagLite but I was finally able to remove the Tail Cap, clean up the inside, and the MagLite still works and is a testimony of how well built a MagLite flashlight is!

I like most olights... I did not like this one. It is just too smooth... The switch does not stand out and you just can't tell when you're hitting it at all with bare hands let alone if you were wearing gloves because it was winter. This light deserves a hard pass

I installed a AA alkaline box store battery in a timex indigo clock in October 1999, yes i date the battery install date with a magic marker, it is still operating 25 years later !!

I agree with a commenter below, it's when they took mercury out of the batteries that they started to leak like it was 1967 again. Yes, I am that old, and batteries used to leak terribly in the 60s. Then I lived through a period when batteries didn't leak very often at all. Now we are back to the days of crappy, leaky batteries again. And even though many of you say Energizer doesn't leak, I had so much trouble with energizers and Ray-o-Vacs leaking that I went to Duracell, only to find they are just as bad. My clocks have been running on 20 year old Energizer rechargeables for a long time, but I need alkalines to cover the days when they are recharging. The only thing with disposable lithium batteries is the wastage of rare earth metals. Better to go rechargeable.

Energizer is my favorite battery brand.

I use Energizer Lithium batteries but they are expensive. I am now trying industrial AA and AAA batteries instead. I hope they don't leak.

The fact that it can run on full power from the charger is definitely overlooked, it's the first review that pointed it out! Definitely increases the light's usefulness as a night light or prolonged use as a signaling light. My Fenix E03R only runs the moonlight and a low mode when connected to charger as it probably doesn't bypass the battery.

I stopped buying Duracells a couple of years ago. They constantly leak. I have been buying Energizer for a few years now, and have yet to find one that has leaked.

Duracell Swell up. Cost me a 6 and a 5 D- Cell Maglite.

Have packs of Duracell that 2028 exp date, "10 years garantee" - about half or even more leaked.

Is it ok to keep the case plugged in charging whilst also having the light inside it? Does that charge both?

Sometimes I buy a light just because it looks cool. I'm the same way with pocket knives. The Dragon i3t v2 sure looks nice.

Thank you for the video. I have had so many ruined electronic devices because of leaking alkaline batteries. I was so tired of the problem that I came up with a product to lessen the damage to devices. For the RUclips video search for “battery centurion shield “ I am really just interested in what you think of it. Please let me know. I am having a very difficult time getting into stores.

Nice thoughtful review, and I was thinking about the gold phoenix version myself so it was cool to see someone handle it "in person" rather than just product photos on store sites. Have been using a Lumintop Tool AAA for years, but I love the dual fuel nature of this one, the great clip, and the 2 very useful brightness modes. I also have a Lumintop Tool AA which is also NiMH/14400 and I've liked the options there, but I think the pocket friendliness of a AAA light is hard to beat. Looking forward to trying my own i3T 2 when it comes in.

It's funny. I got this light last week because of all the reasons you stated. Then, while looking at reviews, I saw the Arkfeld Pro, and had to get that also. Got the Pro for $80 on sale, and love it! 😮

The lion kingdom's 35 year old mini maglite is probably doomed to remane a museum piece. It's too easy nowadays to strap together random batteries & a $1 LED to do what used to take specialty fabrication.

Been buying regular energizer alkaline batts for decades because they had 10% more juice than Duracells. Haven’t seen any leaks. Glad I switched but didn’t know Duracells leak and Energizers don’t. When batts leak they usually destroy the device even if cleaned.

Blood Pressure Monitor 1of 4 batteries leaked. Cleaned it up put in new batteries. couple months later monitor fell on floor and didn't work. Checked and found battery in same place leaking. sigh. I stored my batteries in a spare room that did not have a/c. I wondered, and you verified, heat does matter. Thank you, no one else I listened to referred to heat. This kinda makes me nervous because alkaline are in my CO2and smoke detectors. Will have to consider alternatives for those. hope heat is ok for metal hydrate (sp) and Lithium.

i3e 2 is an easy choice. With a 10440 the output difference is negligible. Cheaper and lighter.

If a light is for daily use I like rechargeable with ultimate lithium in a bag for backup. If a light is to be kept with a kit, then it is only ultimate lithium for me. If a light has a non replaceable battery, its pretty much a hard no buy for me. Plus I have a few llights that have ithium polymer batteries that I regret buying. The lith-poly batteries will not hold a charge for longer than 3 weeks in my experience. Have you found this to be the case?
