Jonny Greenwood — Rebirth Theme (Unreleased, Daydream Festival 2008, ENEMC)
11/8 Pizz, Fourth, Rebirth Theme and Slow Theme were Jonny's compositions debuted by the Ensemble Nacional de Espana de Musica Contemporanea at the Daydream Festival in Spain.
I couldn't find any setlist, only mentions that these songs were played. The only song I could identify was Slow Theme which is an alternative name mentioned on ASCAP for Duty Lux, a B-side for Jonny's soundtrack for Bodysong (part of this composition also plays in the track Bode Radio/Glass Light/Broken Hearts)
Update:
It is from Bodysong, it’s Rebirth Theme

Sorry for the bad video quality and vertical, venue didn’t allow to bring cameras in so I had to film it on my phone.

Is that another Colin Greenwood video on this channel? Can’t believe it! Anyway, this audio was found on some old radiohead fansite (maybe Lift? I don’t remember) through wbm

Sorry for the low quality, the original source is gone, DRTV deletes its clips after a year - so I merged two clips together, that’s why there is a jump in the middle

Colin stealing jonnys style !? :0
Best Radiohead music video
Thom foolery
I see you sampling Talk Talk!
While it's awesome how upfront Thom Yorke was about a medical emergency, it should be noted that this is the standard musicians are *expected* to uphold. It's much more than just a nice gesture.
I really felt it when he said "sims crashing" the unsaved progress on my house I never finished building
Security…maybe you should Read The Room?
I love Colin so much!
He is so rude and has always been
Man I love this version , and 99% of the time I agree with how they change things in the studio, but the original live version with the feedback was so amazing.
I just heard the album version, it's fucking beautiful, yeah it's basically this soft acoustic version and nothing likd the early version, no need to worry , won't be disappointed, it's so good
F A S T E R
Johnny's over there like, aye aye captain thomas
I feel like this song more than others would do better as a Radiohead song. For the simple reason that I think it would be MUCH more interesting with a lot more layers of instruments. Seems like the addition of the clarinet and its effects does a LOT to bring out what’s interesting about the song, and could use even more layers than just this. But it’ll be what it’ll be in the end. I do wish that The Smile would do more overdubs in the studio. There’s no reason to limit what you do in the studio to what you can do live.
This is essentially Dave Grohl's "YOU COME TO MY SHOW'S TO DANCE" but without an asshole harassing the fans: It's someone wanting their fans to enjoy themselves when seeing them perform. Kudos to Tom for taking notice and immediately getting the fan help.
"...and being famous and 🎵la la la🎵"
I wish they'd stop taking great ideas for songs and then stripping them down to their core. Retain the original arrangement... More energy and oomph... Always end up with whispery quiet, acoustic arrangements that lack the excitement of the initial idea.
Johnny always looks confused 0:22
I don’t think his brain can work properly because of all the music he plays, he broke himself years ago
I kinda like this version better, it's grown on me. The drums kicking in sold it for me
İ can feel jonny greenwood coming inside of me
EHS SO ADORABLE
30 years later…people reverse engineered and figured out what Thom meant, and determined he was right after all.
존나 기엽네 씹거
Hearing Thom say "so dope" fills me with joy.
can someone tell me song name please ?
Read The Room
This is All I Need. I wish we had another version of Invention for Harpsichord and Compression like that, it's so nice to hear a song you like played in a different light.
wtf does "jazzed" mean thom
this gave me goosebumps. one of my favorite songs and I'd never seen any context. lovely people here. thank you so so much. this truly made my day.
Thanks for sharing ❤️
Every band members doing other things, the smile, Phillip got his solo work, edoBrian playing with his pedals while Colin still running
And posting pictures of pencil sharpeners
I love him
he really cooked with that one
with all due respect when is he not cooking
finally.
New for me!
life is beautiful
so you're meaning to tell me thom actually walked like that in the video? lowkey jealous lmao
Aside from the music (obvs!), one of the best bits of the smile gig in Birmingham was Thom turning to a group just before the last track who had been talking all the way through the gig and saying "It's 5 minutes. Either SHUT. UP. or F*CK. OFF." 🤣👏👏👏👏
👏❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
unkle❤❤
anyone know what nylonguitar he is playing?
stop whip
i love that jonny constantly looks dazed and confused
Why is he playing bass?
He is (mostly) the bassist in The Smile, but sometimes it’s Jonny’s job
Rude idiot!
I was there and the security was just a bunch of kids who had no idea what to do. Even after Thom called them out, they hesitated, until one guy slowly made his way into the crowd. Granted, I am not sure they could really see it before, because it was quite in the middle of the crowd, but they also weren't paying much attention and when action was necessary, they were clueless and hesitant. Bless Thom for always watching out and stopping the show when necessary, he's a real one.
I once saw Radiohead at the Toronto Skydome (2003), and Thom did exactly the same thing.
prefer the old one but it would still be cool if they could put them together to make a better song. Does anyone else here prefer this version? just curious
Thats what i was thinking i like the acoustic. But maybe during the choruses they could play electric after in studio and still do thoms solo
Legend absolute legend
Putting aside the unfortunate circumstances surrounding this clip- which are horrible, the most impressive part about this is when thom calls for the stop they…stop. All instruments seize from playing. No backing track. They’re really doing all that sound live on stage.
makes me uncomfortable to see Thom dressed in a tucked in button down, belt, and blue jeans lol
