I feed them to the crows. The crows enjoy the protein. Peanuts in a wire cage bring them in and a 50 caliber Sam Yang PCP from a second story window take them out. Yes, it is overkill. I don't like to see them suffer. It is illegal to relocate problem animals in my state. Poison can be ingested by someones pets.

I loved squirrels until I started gardening because of Bidens inflation tax. Squirrels started to dig deep holes and wreaking my plants, I tried everything, now Im thinking feeding them .177 or a black trash can with still water so they can swim and wash themselves and be good neighbors.

This comment is going to be the only information on the web about a particular squirrel problem - EATING MY LOG CABIN! I built it of white northern cedar in 1993. I had no problem until I had it stained in 2017, using a name brand log cabin finish. Squirrels immediately began chewing on every surface they could reach - literally hundreds and hundreds of spots - all the log ends, soffit and fascia, porch railings, floor, etc. I tried coating the cabin with alum and with zinc oxide, both bitter substances. Nothing. I shoot them but I'm only at the cabin part time so most of the time they are free to eat it. I tried giving them their favorite food, sunflower seeds, but they will not touch the seeds when they can feed their addiction to the stain. It IS an addiction, because I can shoot my 12 gauge at them, miss by a few feet, and they will return in 15 minutes. I have all the footage I need to make a video but I'm afraid of the inevitable legal attack from the paint company. If only there were other people talking about this . . . . I have investigated all the useless rodent poisons on Amazon, read all the silly suggestions about mint and pepper. My squirrels are not interested in food, only in the drug they are getting from the stain. I would love to coat the cabin in strychnine but it's too dangerous . If you read this far and you have a log cabin, all I can safely tell you is to not stain it with anything that includes the word "LOG", and you will be avoiding the product that ruined my cabin.

I literally have squirrels in my yard from just after sunrise to just before sunset... every single day. What is it *_exactly_* that so offends *you people* about squirrels so much? They almost never touch my house except for a couple that use the roof as a shortcut to the kitchen window. One year one of them would climb the side of the house to the window and wait for a peanut but it's not like they do any damage. If you see a squirrel in a hole in a house he's probably hiding something there and the house was dilapidated already. They don't chew on things like mice and rats do. I feed squirrels... and crows all day when I'm home, the crows will tap on skylights to get my attention. I also take a few pounds of peanuts with me when I ride daily too. So is it _just_ squirrels, or all rodents? Are rabbits verboten too... they're not rodents after all? Are neighbor's cats and dogs worthy of poison, or an air rifle? What about their children? More importantly, were all of *you people* abused as children? I just can't understand the animosity directed at an animal that does no damage and is always fun to watch. You say, "Don't feed them"!!!! Do you know that over 25% of squirrels starve to death in the winter? They don't hibernate and those frenetic creatures bothering your birdfeeder in winter may be frenetic because they are on the verge of starvation. Put some squirrel food on the ground for them and they'll bother your birdfeeders less. There are good commercial feeds available. Why do humans always have to respond like barbarians toward small struggling animals? They are great, smart, funny creabtures and we are lucky to have them. It's their world too!

My neighbor put a bird/animal feeder on her property line. So you guessed it. I get all the animals in my yard. They don’t sit out and watch the animals or nothing. I rent so I’m thinking they did it on purpose. They have plenty of room to put it close to their house. Now I have a garden and these little terrorist keep digging up my damn fruit seeds.

Bought a live trap last year and in 4 months caught and dispatched 23 of these pests. Named them all... 1, 2, 3 etc. This year so far I've gotten rid of 3 more and spotted #27 flirting around. Will never eradicate them but hopefully keep them under control. Don't like infestations😠
