Diesels yes work on compression ignition, and how fast they go is determined by the amount of fuel/amount of fuel and boost. What you do to make them pop and bang is you really retard the fuel injection times, so basically it puts fuel in almost at tdc, just enough to ignite it but the exhaust valve starts to open, ergo it makes the big flames. You're welcome😊😊 Also, it can make them jump timing due to the irregular fuel injection timing, but that's only if someone fucked something up mapping it or if you're a retard on the limiter for AGES, and if your timing components are not up to scratch, aka old belt/loose tensioner/play in idle pulleys
