TOP 5 BOARD GAMES TO START YOUR COLLECTION!
Leader 1 - a cycling game and Heat Pedal to the Metal are remarkably similar and totally different at the same time. Both amazing games
I am a boomer so sad to see Settlers, ticket to ride and Carcassonne missing they were always played on gaming night.
Horizons of Spirit Island is $16 on Amazon right now! Just ordered it to see if I like it!
Phenomenal deal!! What a pickup :)
Excellent! Thank you!
I would love this chips to play Paco with my family! We play Paco every time we get together and it need lots of chips because we play with 8-10 people. Paco is a very old Spanish card game that family has played for generations. You need atleast 6 decks of Spanish cards and lots of chips for every player. Great video!
Woah awesome. Paco sounds great!
A third option for premium currency is the metal coins from Scythe. The are only $35 for a set and they cover most games.
Valid! Lots of games have ones that look fairly universal. Raccoon Tycoon too!
I don't know why folks turn their nose up at party games. They're different games, and they're maybe not the kinds of games you gravitate towards, but that does not mean they are bad games (I'm looking at you, pretentious bgg user and supreme rater of games). I think Guesstures is fantastic. Just the additional piece of strategizing which words you are going to prioritize pushes it to the next level.
Root is amazing, was love after first play! Hahahah
So so so good!
Thank you very much for the opportunity! I would play Brass Birmingham with my brother!!
Great video! Accessories can really up the enjoyment of a game for me. If I won these chips, I’d play with my wife and brother in law, probably as health chips on Hoplomachus or in Brass. Thank you for the chance!
Great picks and thanks for watching!
Def Brass and ReadySetBET with my best friends!
Just did a similar video and I LOVE the difference in things. Again. I've said it before. THANK YOU for the time and quality you put into your videos!!!!
You are too kind. Thank you!!!
Woww amazing giveaway. I would love to use these when I play games with my family over the holidays (brother, sister, mom and dad). This upgrade would be fantastic for any game with money for sure. My sister and I have been playing quite a lot of arc nova lately.
My brother is big on Hold'em; I'd love to take these to a tourney he's hosting!
Best of luck!
Zzzzzzzzz Reminds me not to go to a club game hosted by you fellas. Very pedestrian selection. Not a wargame present. Not a single one.
Root is a war game, technically! As is pax pamir which was in our Top 20. Sorry to hear these games weren't for you!
I've got another label to bestow on your Top 10... "LAME"
Thanks for watching anyway man :)
I would love to play brass with these with my bestie 🎉
My Heroes 3 the board game haha
These are some great big ideas. For the chips it’s my family, we try to have game nights weekly and when you play with 10-5 yo having solid chips is a must.
Amazing list here, thanks so much for the video. Would love to use the Slow Play chips to play Stockpile with my wife :) I'm also curious, you mentioned you built your own board game table and it looks amazing. I was wondering how long it took you to build and what the total cost ended up being?
Stockpile is a game we need to try! Best of luck :)
I would use these chips to play Brass Birmingham with my sons or brothers.
This is the beauty of poker chip, it can replace the currency of pretty much any game ever (scythe or millennium are the big ones in my collection that comes to mind) blade as long as your group do not mind the poker chips (which might affect the theme of the game in some aspect). My group certainly wouldn't mind as we also play poker from time to time. Though poker chip are at their nicest when they have a decent weight to them. How weighty are the slowplay nash?
They're 10g ceramic chips. Ceramics are the leading look/feel chip type and usually cap out around 11g.
Sweet chips! I would use them with my buddy Paul while we play LotR LCG.
Great use case
We have a group that meets every other week to play games. Any opportunity to break out chips we do it, especially if a game uses paper money(Eww). Power Grid is one we have played a lot. Thanks for the gift ideas!
Glad you liked the video and good luck!
I would love to play with these chips for a game of poker with my friends.
I’m excited to play Brass Birmingham and anything western/pirate themed. Waiting for the large set of Iron Clays to be in stock again
Duncan and I have wanted to give Brass another shot; these would be awesome to replace the cardboard coins! Great suggestions too, some of these we’ve never heard others recommend before!
Thanks and good luck!
I would use these chips to play Power Grid with my step son.
If I won I'd probably first play a game with my wife and some old friends who just moved to the same town as us! I bet they would work great for a round of Ready Set Bet.
Ready set bet sounds like a perfect game for these!
My wife and I would upgrade our game plays of both Love Letter and War Chest with these Slowplay Chips.
I'm so excited to play with slowplay chips with my good friend Sasha Grey, looking forward to playing Column of Fire ❤️
My wife would love those chips! We play Great Western Trail with Iron Clays, so these will fit right in!
If I win I plan on playing every game with cardboard currency with these new chips. Theme be damned, I’ll be playing with @rebeccamiles444
Replacing every game's currency is the only right answer. :)
A year later I come to your video as I was deciding between Farshore or the Classic. I went with the Classic and Mistwood, as I'm mostly a solo.
I'm glad you picked classic :) fantastic game!
Thanks for actually showing the games. Most of these gateway games are just hosts talking. Hard for those of us actually wanting to get into board games with these Gateway games without being able to visualize it.
Thanks for watching!
Would you say Root is still your number 1 game? or is this the new number 1?
We will be releasing an updated top 30 this year :) you'll have to check it out!
Hey just a little feedback. I just started watching your channel recently but the guy on the right tends to interrupt the guy on the left frequently.
I will attempt to pay more attention to that while filming, thanks for the feedback!
OK. YAAASSSSSSS. Pirates vs Clays. I've been on the fence on both of these. So thankful for that specific part of the video!!
We have another new thing in store soon :)
@@ChitsandCardboard ohhhhhhhhhh
holy shi these dudes are absolute giga studs!!!!
You're an absolute unit
Kinfire was awesome at 2 players controlling 2 characters each. Story on cards vs a book is just a nit pick.
Having to wade through and find 6 cards just to read paragraphs feels like a bit more than a nitpick. Resetting the game is also a nightmare. They've fixed this in v2 though allegedly
@ having to turn 6 pages is the same in my opinion. There is an upside to not having to have a full sized book on your table while playing a game. I’m sticking with nit pick. Not getting a turn, that really sucks.
@@diszect7134 haha yes that also sucked. To each their own on the story delivery I suppose :)
@@diszect7134 It would be a nitpick if it wasn't a story-telling game.
Great Top 20! I'm one of those shameful people who still hasn't played Dune Imperium. And I own it. And I have expansions 💀💀💀. One day though, one day it will happen! I subscribed and looking forward to more content😎. Keep doing what you're doing!
Thanks for watching! Dune imperium is a must-play :) We believe in you 🙏 our updated Top *30* should start dropping in December!
My thoughts exactly on lords of vegas
Glad I'm not the only one 🤣
More like boreds of vegas.
Arnak needs the asymmetrical expansions. Vanilla version does pretty much only has one direct path to victory.
I have heard it helps! I never got to buying the expansion though.
@@ChitsandCardboard We should play it.
Race for the Galaxy is the OG GOAT card game. I know the iconography is a bit tricky, but anyone can learn it and once you do... the game is just so good.
Agreed but the onboarding could be so much easier for new players if the iconography was redesigned. So many great engine builders out there and many that are way easier to get started with. It is a great game though.
I agree with C&C's take on this. The game is dry, dated, and doesn't really stand up to other games in the category trying to do what it does. I thinik Terraforming Mars Ares Expedition is far better and much more engaging. RftG is a solid meh by today's standards. Not bad, just meh. It's undeserving of the top 100 title.
Inis suffers from King making. What a frustrating and boring experience it is. The drafting of cards is so bad. I had 2 games of Inis. Both games kingmaking happened. In one game I NEVER got the card to add more troops because always someone else would pick it ( because of course it’s a no brainer powerful card). I just can’t understand how can people play this game 😅
20 Strong has been a huge disappointment for me this year. I really like those types of games, but I feel like it’s harder and more complex than I like.
I haven't tried it yet but i've thus far heard good feedback about it. What did you think makes it hard?
There are aspects to it that make the game unapproachable for solo-gamers. Each deck has it's quirks but each one is a puzzle unto itself. Once you crack that puzzle it gets very easy. Higher difficulties become an issue though as you already know what you need to do but luck determines if you CAN do it. Not great design. Otherwise I would suggest changing the approach to how you view it and it might be more enjoyable. Don't be afraid to reset when you're losing.
Anachrony: Potential punishment for unpaid loans is to mitigate the high amount of points you get for paying them back (up to 16 points). You can play the game without borrowing from the past but it is unlikely that you will win. I think it's very thematic, if you play around with time-travel and sending stuff to yourself from the future there is a chance to create Paradoxes and too many of those will create an Anomaly.
While I do understand this, I just think a die was not a very well thought-out way to approach this problem. Nobody is saying you shouldn't get punished. The issue is how much you get punished vs someone else next to you being punished more or less based on luck. The only way to mitigate this is just to not do it. It's not an aspect of the design I enjoy, personally.
"Weather Machine is not 'bad'." HOW DARE YOU SIR! Weather Machine is tremendous. And there is a logical flow to provide proof of concept to the government, to receive funding, to run an experiment, to get proof of concept, to build the actual machine. The theme is less 'building a machine' and more 'running a research department'. Which I find delightful!
I just don't find the flow as elegant as any of his other games, many of which appear in my Top 30! I had really high expectations going into Weather Machine and came out disappointed by the experience after 2 plays. I'm still a Lacerda fanboy don't worry :) - John
@ChitsandCardboard I know, and almost all criticisms of Weather Machine are very valid. But you'll never catch me admitting that!!!
I have every big box lacerda game, and have no regrets. I just wish I enjoyed it more! Sooo looking forward to speakeasy
Man, idk why so many boardgame content creators refuse to add some b-roll of whatever game theyre talking about. You go through the trouble of editing in the boxart, just grab some photos from BGG and slowly rotate them in while your talking about the game. I enjoyed the discussion, yall are very good at expressing your thoughts. My 2 biggest disappointments are 1) Everdell, such a beautiful game. Its definitely not bad, but the fact that the game ends at different times for everybody just did not feel great. and 2) Red Rising. Bought this for lile 5$ during an amazon sale, purely on the box art and because its from Stonemeier Games. Turns out I just really don't like hand management, and thats like 90% of the game.
We usually do b-roll, we just don't have the games anymore! I like everdell but I will say Wondrous Creatures does what it does but better. I didn't love red rising either!
This is not meant to be an insult to this channel, but I don't give a crap about what any board game content creator looks like. I would MUCH RATHER see the game than talking heads, and I'm talking about every type of coverage, from reviews to previews to whatever. It's supposed to be about the game, not the talking heads!
@Gamebent1 watch literally any of our other videos. This one video, we no longer own the games to take B-roll. This is what happens when we are honest about not liking games and sell them.
Kinfire?!?! It’s so good. The second printing campaign is in a book instead of cards
The second printing in a book is a huge upgrade :) not acting for a 1 hour scenario didn't feel fantastic though!
I can say that would be a welcome upgrade for sure. One thing the video didn't mention is card synergy. In a game like Kinfire you would expect a new card/tool to pop up and want to use it immediately. This isn't the case for KC. The biggest issue in design to me comes in that replacing 1 card actually forces you to replace 2 because of the game's design in addition you're only going to do it once you've found a number of other cards for those changes to syngerize with. This is bad for 2 reasons; 1, you can't make effective use of cards when you find them and 2, in order to feel interesting you need to swap out giant chunks of your deck while other players don't necessarily know what's happening. Oh! You expected your friend to be the support healer for the game but didn't realize they switched their entire deck to be a DPS, sorry.
I want to love Lost Ruins...and it falls short ever time. Need to try endless winter.
Dune Imperium is my favorite game.
There's no game i wanted to love more than lost ruins!
@@ChitsandCardboard like I still like it enough to play it if someone asks, but not enough to own or request.
