The 1989 Gen 1 Mitsubishi Pajero. Recent Social media posts have surfaced of supercars able to be ripped apart with ones bare hands. Not so with the cars of the 1980s. 1:07:40 really sucks the 77kg Qatar(Bulgarian) lifters got pulled out last minute from the competition. Oh well.
There's 2 things I particularly love about this footage. 1. The training hall isn't full of people filming, like you see today. And the cameraman is staying away from the athletes, and zooming in on them. I love this. I can't imagine being an athlete and getting cameras shoved in my face while I'm training. 2. You can see they're actually training, and not doing things just for show - for instagram. This is a true training session, with the athletes focused on what they're doing and not anything else. Love it. I wish I could train in such an atmosphere.
It sure was a different era. Where were all these peoplr then ? Nowhere to be seen ! I took 6 weeks off on a volunteer basis to get this footage and into the training halls. It was captured with a 5kg video camera that had to be carried in its own dedicated bag. Glad you appreciate the footage.
1:46:00 that is so easy!!!

Kostya was poor when he was a kid. But he didn't let anything stop him. He because champion against all odds.
thanks for video
Great footage! Thank you for the upload!!! Pyrros was at his best in that competition. According to his post match statements he was prepared for 185 snatch (lifted 190 in training) and at least 215 in cj (220 in training). Had he performed good in the snatch, we would still have WR lifts from that night...
How Am I 10 months late for this gem of a video? This deserves an immense Thank You!
I found your video shortly after my own quad tendon rupture and it confirmed my belief I could make a full recovery. I'm age 64 and now 20 weeks post-surgery. I have full flexion in my knee and am diligently rebuilding my quad in the gym and on the bike. I agree, no days off! Thank you for posting this.
Good to hear. There are different approaches. I found the cautious but super consistent approach worked best for me. Getting to work at dawn every day has kept me in the drivers seat and in control which one needs given the mental challenge that comes with an injury like this and disablement. Unfortunately there is no get out of jail early with this injury. A major injury , major repair and a major recovery (if you want it). The good news is with dedication one can return to normal. The secrets are as follows 1. range of motion recovery needs several months of gentle pushing at end range multiple times a day every day. It takes months not weeks. 2. Exercise of the body is required around the injury to stimulate hormonal secretions that will flow to repair site. 3. When rebuilding the recovering leg one needs to find the delicate balance between just enough and not too much. The tendon cannot be rushed, but needs to be challenged in stages. Seeing a sports physio a couple of times ( say once each 6 weeks) for guidance can assist. Around a year is said to be recovery time but this depends on many variables. At 21 months I can say Im 50% better than 12 months when at that 12 month stage I thought the recovery was over…. Hope to hear more positive news. All the best with your recovery….
100% agree. Patience and consistency are super important. @@lubby447
@@lubby447 Thank you for your insights. I am now 14 months post-injury and just as you described, I'm still making progress. I would say I"m about 85% of my previous strength and continuing to get stronger. I've had full range of motion for at least 9 months. I do 4 leg workouts a week, two on the bike (20-50 mile rides) and 2 gym workouts currently focusing on single leg squats, step ups, leg extensions, etc...I'm very happy with my progress but it's also clear to me it is a long road that takes diligence, consistency and determination.

I am 7 months after the rupture and my knee still has liquid, I am 57 years old, it had some before the rupture. the quadricep muscle is higher than on my normal leg, this is due to the fact that the tendon tearing being the tear, it goes up the muscle part which is lower on a knee that has not suffered a tear
That is normal. The swelling will take up to 1 year to go down. Movement is medicine. Just go slow with this injury but be very , very consistent. The movement is fundamental to recovery.
hello, we want to see the knee and the thigh muscles, and compare them with the other legs, thank you
Hello Rene, if you want me to show my legs (pose nude ) You have to pay me money . 😂😂😂 Seriously though, of course they are different. After a traumatic injury the muscle completely disappears, so there is an extensive rebuilding phase. I am 390 days straight into this, and then next year it is about equalisation. The doctors say this is a 6-12 month recovery. Yes it is that to be functional again. However I would say 2 years to get it ‘normal’ again. This is no big deal. At 13 months Im as good as before..... but still climbing and working on it....Good luck, keep working...
@@lubby447 loll....😂, but my physiotherapist told me that the knee muscles to be operated on will be shorter in the thigh, because during a tear the surgeon does not have access to the muscle fiber to tear higher, the tear is not only horizontal, it is also vertical to a lesser extent
@@renedugas2396 Dont worry about what they tell you too much. Alot of them are just working for the money and their heart is not truly in it. When your heart is in it you can move the world. A long time and effort and alot of mental control is required in this recovery.
Thank you for sharing your triumphant recovery, focus and will! I’m 4 weeks post op from a full quad tendon rupture. Watching this video most definitely motivates me mentally and gives me hope! Thanks again for sharing 🙏🏽
Hello Santiago. At 4 weeks, soon the laying around will end and the mountain of work ahead will unfold for you. Attending to the daily work (which you likely find boring and not want to do) will not only fast track recovery but put you on the right path mentally. However you need to take care not to reinjure it especially in the early weeks and months. It is 100% a mental game as the tendon healing and remodelling takes a very long time and while keen to recover - you cannot rush the process. The rehabilitation phase is critical and needs careful oversight from a professional for prescription of exercises according to an assessment of what stage you are at - and careful sustained effort by you every day. There are many multi layered stages to this recovery. Pool Bike and Rower will help you get range back, and once you have that you are on your way. Pool is king all the way through as you can scale things according to the stage you are at. If you are super cautious but above all super consistent and you will make it.
Thank you sir for taking the time to respond! Oh I’m ready for the challenge. Slow progress is still progress. Like you said, consistency is key. Thanks again for the advice and tips 🙏🏽
@@suji15 Go here and study the historic posts: facebook.com/groups/quadtendonrupture/
@@suji15 slow and steady wins the race. Be careful in the early days. You do not want to reinjure it. Go slow, slow slow, but be VERY consistent. Its a mountain of work but you will become unbeatable as a result of the mental discipljne you need to apply to keep moving forward. Good luck man....
Thank you so much for the motivation! Already on week 4(post-op) and there’s progress every week. Not where I want to be in terms of my deg. in flexion (63deg). I get in 2 workouts a day trying to push my flexion bit by bit. Able to drive and walk with proper gait. Started training upper body only at the gym for now. I am very cautious to not re-injure or re-rupture my quad. Thanks again brother, will keep you posted 🙏🏽
Thanks a lot! Legendary material.
It is literally unbelievable to be watching it , isn't it. Theres about 2 other guys with this footage who were recording with me, but Im guessing they could not be arsed to digitise it and post it.
Am I the only one who has never seen Idalberto Arranda do the actual oly lifts? Lol. I think ive only seen him squat humongous amounts of weight until this vid came out.
This is gold right here
This is incredible footage, will be watching this on repeat for inspiration Thank you for the upload!
Isnt it ever!
The fact this finally gets posted. I was getting eager always seeing that 20 second clip of Pyrros snatching on another vid. Glad to see the full session is over 2HRs long. Now I can play these while I’m training.
No worries man. Had afew tech issues. I hope you appreciate the trouble someone went to to carry around a very bulky video camera in the Year 2000 to get this footage, the attempt to take footage without disturbing the athletes and then digitising and uploading it for you to watch free of charge.
@@lubby447 Thank you brother, if you have anymore footage, Im sure tons of folks would literally pay to get their hands on it
@@emilio556 When I was looking for such footage I was buying it from IronMind. Very expensive. If people respect the footage it will continue to be posted. There are some wankers who rip it off and pass it off as their own, on their own social media without due credit - and this discourages me and others from posting more. It has to be respected that someone gave up their time and walked around with a bulky video camera a long time ago to get this footage !

Kaki snatching a world record! 😲I guess straps made the difference for him!
I must say, of all the lifters he was the most perfect and impressive to watch. His technique flawless, his lifting so effortless. In command and control of the weight as if he were a hydraulic machine , exacting the perfect force and not an ounce wasted. Truly was impressive to watch.

1:03:44 I see what happened to Kakhi. I think he tore his quad. So he got through the snatch, did 185kg, and clean and jerked 220kg on a bad leg during competition. He kept it a secret the whole time.
It certainly was a dramatic moment in the competition.

A real testament to why Australia is a peanutty member of the human race.
