Nice gaming table and battlereport 🙂 I really like to see more of that system online, so keep up with your channel... And pls try to reduce the echoes on the audio file, they r pain in the ears... 🙂
13.07 "An infantry squad or team must take a morale test if it takes any casualties."
Not so. if the casualty is for rolling a 1 for a pin check no test is taken (We did kind of explain it just before 13:07)
Where do you buy your Skirmish Campaign Books?
Game looked awsome! Great Early war Battlegroup game. God Bless from Virginia. Please do more Early war Battlegroup if you can. Great Terrain Great models! This game was Down to the wire guys well done! 👍🏻 Thanks 😊
Those new tokens are a great idea, are they available for purchase?

@@BAGam I couldn't find the move and shoot tokens you used?
@@shawnclarke9414 they are probably not up yet. We tend to lag a bit behind. We like to game more than do the business
@@BAGam haha don't we all. Thanks for the response and great video!
I think the pintle MG on the 251 has a RoF of 5.
Did you forget the experience check before the Close Assault? Or did I miss it?
Around the 52 minute mark.
Again at 1:12. (You must roll to see if they dare to assault.)
Yep. Missed it. I’d got confused with ASL thought it was only for AFV assault. In our defence it should have been included in the infantry assault section (not just orders!)
I think you made a small mistake when splitting off the Bren gun teams. The rule says "Bren Teams A British infantry section may detach its Bren team from the main body of the squad to operate independently (usually to give suppressing fire support to the rest of its section). This can be done at any time during a game, or they can be deployed separately. When a British section is given an order, simply declare that the Bren team is being detached. It now becomes a separate unit of 3 men (with the Bren gun!). The rest of the section will now complete the order, whilst the Bren team remains in place and does nothing. From now on, the Bren team acts as a separate unit, so they must be given their own order, can become pinned, take their own morale tests and the British player must take a battle counter if the Bren team is destroyed. Once detached, the Bren team does not benefit from any of its parent unit’s special rules and they cannot re-join their original squad during the game. A squad may only detach one Bren team." I think your Bren team was only 2 men.
What was the mistake?
@@BAGam I detached a two man team instead of a three man.
Thanks for putting this game up. The church looks great BTW.
14:30 - I don't know the rules set you're using, but I absolutely hate that spotting rule. Your Vickers came around the woods, in full view of a vehicle column on a dirt road (looks like dirt), and had to roll to spot a truck in the middle, under 10" away? That is preposterous. If there was ever a case for an auto-spot, a truck, in the open, in an armored column, on a dirt road would be the best candidate.
It’s battlegroup. It’s not that it can’t see them. It’s about an effective shot opportunity. You could have rolled to pin it which has no spotting.
The argument is that real life is not like the helicopter view we are used to when playing wargames. The unit might be distracted by something else, be unable to see the target clearly enough for an aimed shot because of dust or a non evident terrain feature, or as they are English they might be making tea. This non-guaranteed spotting is a good reason to do indirect fire (aka spray and pray) and works well in the game IMHO. You should try spotting with French tanks which get a special single man turret rule. I guess you will stick with Flames of War and good luck if that is your preference.
@@cricketerfrench7501- Damn, dude. No need to get snarky. I never said anything disparaging about you. I just said that I hated a single rule that I thought was stupid. F*ck you and your Flames of War dig. Because I think a rule is stupid, I must play some simple game like that? Completely unnecessary. For the record, I play 20mm Battleground WWII, which is more of a sim, with rules that make sense. Plus, the occasional Chain of Command in 20mm and Blitzkreig Commander in 6mm.
Been really enjoyign your videos chaps; cheers. In this one is that a printed matt, or a flocked one, and where is it from?
It’s neoprene. It’s a line of matts we used to supply. But alas no more

Great Battle Report! Love early war Battlegroup. Thank you. 😊
How do you decide who gets the first move?
Generally from the scenario.
@@BAGam Thanks!
Interesting stuff, id love to see some closer views of the action though. The top down view is ok but you cant see anything.
We are working on that
Loved this; cheers folks! Where did you get your little wheel counters for the battle rating they are really neat!
Glad you enjoyed! You can get the trackers and other battlegroup gear from our website www.battlefieldaccessories.com.au/products/battlegroup-morale-tracker
Wa❤ Maza a gia❤❤
20mm scale?
Correct, miniatures are 20mm.
Thank you guys- Brilliant battle report (as always). For future games- when a vehicle carrying more than 1 unit is destroyed, the D3 hits are randomised across the units in the vehicle (Piers Brand confirmed this on a FB post- April 2019). All bailed out units are pinned. Then take a morale test for the units that took casualties. A 1 or 2 would result in the unit routing as they are already pinned.
Thanks for clarifying!
Great video, i would love to see a close up of the armies.
Love your Battlegroup Reports and nice to see Skirmish Campaigns been converted to make an interesting scenario. Same- just before the deployment bit.
Noted! I included some in the next video (hit the lories) near the end.
Great video! May i ask where you purchased the hex tile terrain?
Full disclosure: we make them. www.battlefieldaccessories.com.au/collections/flex-hex-system-ttr
@@BAGam they look great! unfortunately, they are too large for what I am doing.
Interesting take on the rules! 😎DCRB
Will let you know how it goes. We might get 15 inexperienced players so we have to keep the flow going.
You didn’t roll a die for the number of units to unpin when you Rally. Was that part of the scenario? Otherwise the German would have done a lot better.
Maybe I saw it wrong. Oh well. Anyway, love the reports!
@@matthijsclaessen8152 You made me check! We didn't roll for the first 2 German Pin removal because there was only one pinned unit.
Brilliant battle report. Really enjoyed it. Keep it up :)

They are very nice.
Hey, awesome Battlereport, thanks for that. Battlegroup feels a bit "forgotten" in case of RUclips Battlereps. By the way, how large is your table?
Thanks! For this battle its around 6x12.
Great looking table. I love your buildings and gaming accessories!
Glad to see you back at it!
Oh this is the Jeff in the states!
Hey Jeff, I believe we gave you a shout out somewhere on this one!
Another fine video that showcases the rules a treat. Gotta love the KVs C'est la guerre! moment.
It certainly was a quintessential battlegroup moment!
I chuckled when the mine strike took out the KV-2 In one of the first games I was teaching a new player how to play they were winning until the exact same thing happened. They drew mine, strike, played it on me, rolled the one put it back on his tank it blew up which caused him to draw a chip which put him over his Battle rating he hated the game and never played it again . Good Times, gentlemen, good Times
Hahaha, yes unfortunately the mechanic can put some players off. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful battle terrain. Great show.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
A most splendid table and game chaps, well done👍
Thanks Phil, glad you enjoyed it.
Well done and thank you for posting. We need more battle group content!!!
Thanks Steve, we do have another game filmed, so stay tuned.
@@BAGam nice Have you two seen the Japanese book yet? I Still have to get it….
No we haven't seen it, our group is yet to venture down the pacific path!
Around 1h20...you can only get one beyond the call of duty per turn for a unit!
Hmm...Got a page reference, The only reference I can find is in dispatches Vol 2. "51. How many ‘Beyond the Call of Duty’ tests can a unit take, and pass, in a turn? As many as it is lucky enough to pass. Our record is 2 for one very heroic T-34 crew."
@@BAGam I stand corrected! I thought I had read this somewhere, but you are right... a lot of luck for that unit :-)
How large is your table that you’re Playing on?
The table is 10ft by 6ft. But we have been cutting it down to 4 x 5 for most games to keep them in picture
Just wondering as I’m looking to invest in 20mm and seen that the tanks looks really big in this game.
Epic game, when's the next one gents?
We are working on 20mm ww2 French. ‘Cause I’m a sucker for early war! Maybe in the next few weeks
Where did you get the background pictures? They really set off the whole table great looking game guys!
Thanks! We make the backdrop boards; they are available on our website www.battlefieldaccessories.com.au/collections/backdrop-boards
Awesome video! How big is the table and also are you using 20mm terrain? I’m wondering as I’m really wanting to get into 20mm wargaming but still unsure if it’s the right choice as the tanks look like they don’t have a lot of manoeuvrability on the board.
We were playing 4ft x 6ft on this one. Really needed to open up the table a bit more for the scenario to play better (according to Mike…maybe sore loser!) Our next game we will be trying some new camera rigs which might allow us to open the table up a bit more

This is Great! Love seeing this in 20mm. This looks Outstanding Please do more 20mm Battlegroup that's what we use:) Thanks God Bless
BG doesn’t get enough YT love - so nice work!
What are the headphones you’re using?
Our audio gear has had a few changes. Sony wh 1000mx3. But we have recently purchased a dedicated radio Mike setup for face to face gaming. So we can balance the voices and you get relatively constant audio
Oh, I’ve done that before, ported boardgame scenarios for miniatures. Sometimes takes a bit of work, but fun. Thanks for the vid.
Great work! We just started playing again and the new group loves it!! Thanks
Great game so far (working through it during my lunch breaks). A couple of rule queries: for your mortars. if you don't like where the spotter round lands you can cancel it and not fire the mortars. another spotter can always try to fire another spotter round in that case. When you roll for reserves they are placed on the table touching the edge. You don't expend an order to bring them on the table. Loving the report. Glad you are still doing them :)
Good spot on the mortars...I'm used to playing "rounds on the way" special rule"
Aussies playing battlegroup! Sign me up!
Thanks for this. BTW I don't have Picket's Charge but in General d'Armee a loss of fire discipline prevents movement, including charges.
