I guess it's what called jump blues and one of rock'n'roll's precursors. Kindly correct me if I'm wrong. Actually, it sounds to me more like r'n'r than Rocket 88.

In 1952, Bill Haley & the Saddlemen recorded a cover of this song (also on RUclips) that is considered by some as the earliest rockabilly recording. Rockabilly songs had some chart success in the early 1950s but it was Elvis Presley who introduced the world to the genre. However, the true anthem of rockabilly is Carl Perkins's "Blue Suede Shoes."

I'm 31 now first heard this around 8th grade so i was 15. One of the first more underground bands I heard. It was only like a year or two before I started playing guitar. Listening to it again I can hear how helped me become a gnarly guitar player earlier on and good a improvising. some of the licks i was pulling of were coming from this, and some other bands. i need to start trem picking a little more again is what i gained of this.

Leodie Jackson and Lucky White's Dude Ranch Playboys did a great Rock n Roll recording of their 1946 hit THAT NAGGIN WIFE OF MINE on Courtney Records. They were a country western swing jazz band, I don't think they knew Rosetta at the time. Lucky's band was from Texas and relocated to San Bernardino, Calif. after he was released from the U.S. Marines during WWII in 1944.
