If you don't have any in your box, you need to track one down. Fish these guys in the muck on Dog days and watch the magic happen!

A new material for your worm fly patterns... Get rid of hook fouling
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.6 лет назад
This pattern is certainly nothing new, but using this material is a little unusual. Faux Suede is much more rigid than chamois and still allows for good pattern movement. The end result is a worm pattern that doesn't foul around the hook nearly as much... If at all!

This is a classic, designed by a legend... The simple yet perfect design of this pattern helps the fisherman to fish it in a way that is more conducive to strikes on a crayfish pattern. Let this guy tumble and bounce low in the water column, and on the bottom and it will hammer fish. Smallies and trout alike will pound this simple yet amazing pattern.

Great post, yep l have been ordering some of my fishing gear for around 6 months from Temu & yes l was really surprised for the cost how good the quality is fishing tackle here in Australia is very expensive now especially lures Temu's lures so far have been awesome quality & work well for a fraction of what they cost here in Australia now.
@Surinboy60 That is awesome that you have found a more affordable solution! Fishing has gotten pretty spendy like most things lol. Thanks for checking out the video
Thank you for taking the time and risking the money to do the video for the benefit of everyone wondering if its worth it.
@woodyboyd2595 certainly my friend! I figured it was worth it just to see. Thanks for checking out the video! Tight lines
I bought this bait about a week or two ago an I have used it on a drop shot rig and had great success. I have tried switching to different baits on good days and then all of a sudden the bites stop coming. I will definitely be buying tons of these champ minnows and am looking forward to trying this rig! Thanks for the neat suggestion
@brobro9743 Sure thing! It is a super effective bait. We have been doing some nose hooking with it on our local smallie streams and they have been thumping it! I think you will like the chatter setup! It's gonna give you a totally different presentation from the dropshot. Thanks for checking out the video! Tight lines!
@@kypesandstripesoutdoors Nose hooking them is how i have been using them on my drop shot. Great hook up ratio but unfortunately not as durable as putting on the chatterbait
Interesting video. I have gotten out of fishing strictly for bass, as the cost to do so has got out of hand. Mainly fish for crappie and panfish any more.
@ronmayo8591 Thanks! Yea, sadly fishing gear in many respects is getting a bit big for its britches in terms of cost. Food for thought, they make a small chatterbait setup that gets it done on big slabs also, we add a powerbait trout worm to it, and it has a great wiggle to it. Big slabs will smash it!
I know that somewhere in my tackle cabinet there are some small chatter baits. May have to go through everything again to find them.🤔
@ronmayo8591 They are worth digging out for sure! Thanks for checking out the video my friend! Hope your fishing is full of "Crappie" days!
I have that spooling tool in red and black color. In my opinion it's not the best but will do in a pinch. I do have another spooling tool that works much better as it will spin the spool as you crank on the line. I have had no problems with line twisting when using it.
@ronmayo8591 yea I have seen some much better versions. I agree that in a pinch I would give it a go. I have an old DIY setup I made quite a few years ago to put tension on a spool that I use. I works like a charm and I rarely have issues with twist or wind knots.
I've been buying fishing stuff from Temu for the last year. Lots of crappie and panfish items and all have been really decent quality. Yes I have caught fish with them. I have also purchased approximately 20 reels with most of them being spinning reels. Two were less than $5 and I wasn't all that impressed with them, but the majority of them were in the $9-$12 range. Those I have been really impressed with. They range from the mini pocket size 100 to the 1000 sizes. So far none have broken or stripped a gear. If you haven't tried them yet I will say give one a try. You might be impressed too!
@ronmayo8591 Thanks for the info! I never considered reels or anything like that. I was a bit trigger shy to give them a shot. But it's good to hear you have had good luck, so I may check some out. I think the small soft plastics and things like that from Temu are just fine. They also have some unique body shapes, etc, that you don't really see anywhere else. I will probably get some stuff from them on and off. Thanks again for telling us about your Temu wins! We appreciate it!
Agreed they may not be the highest quality but I've been using one spinning reel and have caught multiple 2-4lb catfish with no issues.
Love my 1000 series reel. Been buying a crapload of stuff and love the micro crankbaits. Their electronic power bank and tire inflator work great.
Reading the responses I thought that I would add to them. The Temu reels are fun to use. The two largest fish that I have caught so far were a 2 pound channel cat and a 2 1/2 pound drum. Both of these were caught using the pocket mini 100 reel, 4 lb test hi-vis line, and a 10' Bn'M West point rod. Just recently bought a total of 64 mini crankbait lures from Temu. Looking forward to seeing how well they work.
@ronmayo8591 I have to say I am super intrigued by the amount of positive feedback on the Temu reels. I may have to get some and do a video on them. Definitely caught my attention!
It just needs barbless hooks then it be good
I’ll take that Ben Davis bag
Ended up loving it! In terms of bang for the buck, it's a great little bag! It's become my go-to bag for lightweight wade fishing when we are using spinning gear.
Idk if u will see this but I know u said fish near u like gold so I would for bass suggest a gold ratle trap or like a gold bladebait or rooster tail
We use a gold rattle trap quite a bit when the water is up and cloudy. Bass crush them! We also like gold chatterbaits. We take off the skirts and run a Gulp minnow, or the champ minnow on it. That combo of vibration, flash, and minnow profile is a good one! All great recommendations from you! Thanks for stopping by and watching!
Nice video need to try it out.
Thanks! You definitely should give it a go! You can do it with a Bic pen and some wire as well, I may do a video on it soon! Thanks for checking out the channel!
Great content. Thanks for sharing. Just subscribed to the channel for future vids. Keep up the awesome work man and tight lines
Thanks! I hope to get back to regular content now! That's the hopes anyways. We appreciate you and hope to give you some good stuff as regular as we can! Take care and tight lines my friend!
@@kypesandstripesoutdoors thank you
i found a custom made jointed rat lure and its been one of my favorite topwaters to throw at dawn, catches anything from half lbs to 5-6 lbs
No doubt! Handmade bass buster sounds awesome! You certainly don't have to worry about anyone replicating what you are fishing!
Great content! love the color scheme your little man picked out, really pops, and is unique!
Thanks! Yea I generally let him pick the colors. I overthink, he just picks lol. It makes for unique options that I would have never put together. Thanks for checking out the channel!
You don’t need a treble on crankbaits. Major overkill. Keep the singles. Especially on small baits like that
100% I always change them to singles. Oh and another pro tip, look at videos of using braided line as a split ring. ❤
The thing about TEMU is just what you said "you get what you pay for" no matter where you buy it. Most products found in the major commercial named brand stores are from the same source CHINA. So, being that you have this store which sells mostly chinese products then you get the same ones, pay a cheaper price and of course free delivery. They are all mostly cheaply made some of them good, some of them bad. I buy things like zip ties, and other plastics, some tools like saw blades, screws and have bought some carving tools. So far, I'm pleased with what I get and get what I expected.
I agree 100%, it's not really even worth the time to me to weed through what's OK and what isn't. I wanted to see what it was all about for my own curiosity, and then post some videos to perhaps inform others. I will stick with companies I know and pay the little bit extra lol.
Temu sucks whatever i orderd from them week or two max and is broke ,this isnt worth of spending Money ,go to your local store and buy some Budget stuff and kt will be much better quality then Temu
I agree! Now that I have spent a bit of time with the stuff, the warts start to show. Lure wise etc there is a nice "veneer" but once you get to the heart, it's mostly junk. I have enjoyed a pair of line cutters and pliers I got from them. But outside of that.... Not so much!
That's the completely wrong way to spool an open face reel. Enjoy the line twists and bird nesting.
Oh, Im well aware! It was more about testing a cheesy product than anything.
Ive tried different models and styles and they all have the same problems...they are designed to catch anglers rather than being useful...
I completely agree! I have some guide buddies who have some that work well. They are also super expensive! I don't need them that bad lol. I've gotten by for many years without any such thing!
The same thing happened to me I no longer buy anything from Temu I found out who owns Temu!!!
I hear ya, my friend! I couldn't resist my own curiosity. It's not particularly worth weeding through all the junk to find the gems. There is some usable things on there I think. But it's floating in a sea of junk lol. Thanks for checking out the video!
the name on those nippers had me boggled for a second hahahaha
Oh buddy, let me tell ya! The name game with this stuff is bonkers lol! The nippers have been at the top of my most favorite out of this haul! They work great!
@@kypesandstripesoutdoors I was a big time skeptic of the Temu but I kinda wanna give it a whirl now. They should give you a discount code! Lol
Be interesting to see how this gear performs, especially the lures!
For sure! I'm hoping to get some time on the water this weekend to test a few things out. The only thing I have used thus far is the aluminum pliers and line snips. And they work surprisingly well. They don't feel cheap at all. First impressions were surprising. Now we will see how everything functions and get a feel for longevity. I don't imagine me using Temu as any sort of constant supplier, but I have been so curious. Now I have some stuff to check out! Stick around because I hope to do some specific videos on these items.
He didn’t even fish it. Bruh I was watching in the feed. Screw that I’m outta here
@stankbonkman Sorry my dude, I have a busy schedule and film time is at a premium, I put time with my son on the water above videos. I'm going to have content related to these items. But I'm going to get there when I get there.
Can I have that dehooker when you make it to 500 subs
Haha! I can certainly entertain the thought! Let's see how things go!

Nice fly
Hi from Rolla Missouri 🎣🤠 Dave. Wonderful looking fly for Pan fishing. Skillfully done, excellent job on this fly. I tie one up using yarns and pheasant feathers. I put a little bit of weight Midway on the hook. Size 10 to 2/0. Thanks for your time and knowledge good health for you and your's 🎣🤠 Dave Hughes.
The black is a great color. NAVYLIVE4DASTRIKE
very nice Kudos
Great Tie! What are some of the ways that you fish this pattern?
Hey Tony! We fish this bad when small midges are coming off. So generally in our area we are fishing it in chillier weather. It fishes well on top and just under the surface. We sometimes fish it as a tandem midge setup, like you would with a hopper dropper set. We use this one for the buoyancy of the foam and then fish a smaller midge pattern off the rear. We usually use versions of thus fly tied in "attractor" colors like red, purple etc if we are fishing it tandem. Hope this helps. Any other questions please feel free to ask!
This is a great video and extremely clear instruction--thanks!
This is probably the coolest and easy one to but could u do it with the hook flipped so when ur fishing rivers near Logs u don't snag as easy
Sure! Provided you make sure it will run that way. Your either going to need to use a jig style hook or tie in your weight all on the bottom side so it will act as a keel. But its certainly possible! Thanks for checking us out!
very very nice Kudos
cool pattern!!!
Thanks dude! It's a good pattern! Caught alot of smallies off it as well! Hope you have luck with it!
Nice idea! I'll make a few. I may add a short length on the bottom to clip my thermostat. Thanks for sharing@
Thanks Ed! Glad you like it! And good idea on the hanging points! It's a super versatile design that's easily adapted in many ways! We love them for those minimalist days when we are hiking and keeping thing simple! Thanks for stopping by!
Very interesting idea. Could you tell me how you fish this pattern (what kind of rigging you use, indicator or not, weight, etc.)? Thanks.
would a bigger hook dressing an a small dot of glue help? I did see the video.. just asking for my own info.. Thank you..
Hook options are all your personal preference my friend. You can certainly add as much and any combination of materials to dress up the hook. We tend to stick with sparkle combinations to give the fly some pop. We often comb it out as well for good transparency! A dab of glue be it uv epoxy, or just super glue is a great idea and makes the fly even more bomb proof! I hope this helps and thanks so much for checking us out! Anymore questions, please feel free to ask! Tight lines!
nice fly I am going to make me some so I have them for next year .thanks for the video
No problem at all! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!
How will this fly perform without the hard coat?
It will perform just fine. Adding a bit of gloss adds a hint of realism but certainly isn't a must. Thanks for watching! Tight lines!
