Solo Play #10 - Trekking through History
Spot on in every point made. Is it still in your collection after 2 years?
Yes it is. But honestly it got played maybe 2 times. Far less that Twilight Imperium for that matter :( and never both boxes at once. :(
Nice breakdown; but if you play a Fast attack, it will take place before the enemies attack you.
Indeed. Thanks for bringing this up :)
Very clear. Thanks!
Glad you found it helpful :)
I like the leveling, its like the video game.
Probably as close as it could get in a board game :)
Thanks for putting this up. Made learning the game a breeze!
I am very glad you found the video helpful :) you are most welcome. Hope you are enjoying the game. It's a great brain teaser :)
How many players is max for this game
1 to 4 is what the box says :)
@@lonevik Ok, hoped for more :(
Sadly a lot of coop games suffer the same player count issue :) 4 at a table seems to be the most popular limit for most games. I myself am looking for 5 player games and it gets trickier with time to find good titles for groups above 4 :)
@@lonevik we normally is 5-6 soo its hard to find games we love for that amount
Can canvas reflections be a standalone game? Or do you need the original canvas to play with reflections?
Sorry to say - it is just an expansion. You won't find all of the components necessary to play the game in the Reflections box alone :(
@@lonevik Thank you!
You are most welcome. If you have any more questions about board games, you know where to find me ;) have a great day. P.s. Canvas is a great little game - worth every penny and beautiful as art <3
I read that the eagles nest content has balance issues. Do you disagree?
Yes, sadly it does. The new characters are especially OP and if you combine them with some of the new abilities, the defenders have slim chances. We treat the new characters as novelty items and focus on playing the base game snipers but we use the new maps for variety. It makes the add-on seem like a weak content to cost ratio but I purchased mine second hand and the price was pretty fair.
@@lonevik Thanks. Haven't played enough of the base game yet but having a couple more maps is intrigueing either way.
Sold. In! Thank you.
Glad I took part on convincing you :D enjoy the fun :)
Thanks for this video!
This tutorial was great! You did an amazing job of running through everything. I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Now everything makes much more sense and I feel like I can play through a planet without even reading the rules.. I think I will still but either way thank you!
Thanks for the kind words! I am so glad you found my video helpful :) Unsettled is a great game with a lot of stellar writing and humour. Well worth the effort :) enjoy!
So your biggest complaint is you can't run two campaigns simultaneously!?! Thats quite encouraging to hear and quite differernt from the norm given how negative most reviews are of this game. Do you think some of the negativity stems from the game not being like how people have percieved it/think it should be? (i.e. A bit like Bloodborne!)
I feel that people were a bit disappointed about the difficulty. It is a pretty straightforward game - with a great narrative - and it had potential to be more complex. I find it ok, because I had not high expectations - I enjoyed it a lot. Also I liked the bag building element while there were complaints of it being too random. But dice rolling would be just as random :) lastly, the rules are a bit finnicky but I tend to play coops and narratives in a way that when a rule is unclear I rule for the benefit of the party :D
Great explanation of the rules. Thank you!
You are most welcome! Glad you liked it :)
This helped a lot, thank you 😂. Just even setting it up was pretty overwhelming. Thanks!
Glad I could be of help. This is a great narrative once you learn the ropes and a fun adventure to experience. Enjoy!
Really good explanation thank you!
Thanks :) glad you liked it <3
I jist bought this game because i was told the solo campaigns are really cool. I am a little intimated after watching a few minutes of this. Lol maybe this shouldnt have been my first board game
Don't get discouraged :) sure, it may not be the best entry level game ;) but it is fun after you learn the rules. The first scenario is quite straightforward. Check out my how to play video and if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them ;)
@@lonevik thanks man, I will break it open at some point today or tomorrow and see how it goes
Excelent video, very easy to understand!
Thanks. Glad it helped :) enjoy the game and fus-roh-da all the way :)
Very well spoken and explained thoroughly!
I am very glad you liked it. Have fun with the game and welcome to the channel! :)
Very helpful, thanks!

very helpfull explanation. Thank you.
Glad you found the content helpful :) happy to help
This is definitely the best explanation of the game rules on RUclips. Thanks!
Thank you. Glad you like it :)
Very helpful
Happy to help :)
Perfect explanation. Thank you.
Hello :) so glad you like it :)
Where do you get the kennel boards? They are not in my game box...
They were in the Kickstarter edition. They are - unfortunately - part of the retail version. :(
@@lonevik ah I see. Thanks for letting me know!
thank you so much for the review! I adore Alban's Clinic and this one will definitely be on my shelf
It is more challenging to wrap one's head around than Clinic, but it is a great game all in all :) enjoy!
Thanks for this video. I just got my Supernova Pledge and this will help me to get started.
Glad I could help :) Enjoy the game!
very good and easy explanation of the setup and rules. thank you,
This is so well explained and organized. Thank you~
Hi. Glad you liked the video :) it's a great game - definitely one of my favourites
@@lonevikI will find out tonight 😊
You shouldn't be disapointed - an expansion is being released very soon as well. Can't wait to get my hands on it!
Love the game, I am gonna play a second time (hopefully better) soon~ @@lonevik
It's incredibly fun solo as well. Keep an eye out for the expansion! Glad you liked it :)
Wow this is a very good video! Clear understandable explanation - great articulation particulary for non english native speakers👍🏻 Subscription and comment are obligatory 😉 Greetings from Germany
Thank you for the kind word :) glad you liked it and that the video helped - as for the articulation, being an English language teacher for more than 10 years helps ;) - stay tuned for more vids once I finish moving my living quarters :)
Question there are several cards with T6 or T4 in the corner where do they go
Thank you very much! This video is the best to learn the game, I have found in RUclips. Now I think I can start to play.
I am very happy you found the video helpful. :) enjoy this great game! Have a great day!
I love your voice over as you play, very film noir !
Thank you! I soooo wanna do more cases in this way but, at the moment, my job is occupying too much of my time :( I will definitely do it, though
It's possible to protect the stickers with Krylon spray, but it would add another layer of work that's not really necessary. I usually apply Krylon (two layers) to low quality tiles/boards if I see that this would make the game last considerably more. Too much Krylon will make the components look frosty and that's not a good idea. Thank you for this video!
Hey man! Welcome to the channel - glad you liked the video . Thank you for the tip. I will definitely try this :)
@@lonevik remember to use a mask because Krylon is really bad for you until it's completely dry.
Phenomenal video🙏🙏 Really great game
Thanks you! Glad you like it. This game is an underappreciated gem in my opinion. Sadly, it is pretty hard to come by nowadays, especially with the addon which improves the game balance nicely.
Good video mate
Thank you. Glad you liked it - feel free to check out the rest of the channel ;)
@@lonevikI will absolutely I subscribed as well
Thanks and welcome. Have a great day!
Great playthrough. Very concise explanation of rules. Thank you for posting 😊
Glad you liked it :) thanks
Like the others; great video, thanks. Only thing maybe better would be to show some event cards and quests that result (other than the world quest you showed.) But you also have a full playthrough you mentioned, so that would cover it. Thanks!
Thank you for the comment. Glad you liked the vid :) have a great day!
I posted this question on BGG also: Very good video, thank you! But don't you get the upgrading rule wrong? At 22:45, you said, that the upgraded 1 to 2-square residential building has to be influenced by two cultural tiles after the upgrade. But as I understand the rules, the 1-square residential building has to be influenced by two cultural tiles before the upgrade is possible. I am right?
Yes. You are right, sir. Thank you for being so vigilant with the rules :) I indeed interpreted it differently in the book :(
In a crowded field of board games channels, you are definitely one of the best at teaching game rules. Thank you again!
I am so happy you find my content helpful :) this gives me the motivation to create constantly. Thank you! Have a great day! ❤️
Another fantastic how-to-play video! Your explanations are always clear and your pacing is great. I hope you continue to make many more of these!
Thank you! Do glad you find them helpful :) more coming :)
Thank you for your great teaching video! I hope more people discover your channel!
Thank you for the kind word. Trying the best I can :)
18:04 Pretty sure that Childer cannot also be Sires unless they have Childer of their own. If I'm right, then this is a misplay. They could become a Sire later, but they aren't one at that point.
It's been a while since I reached for this rulebook, but I think you may be right :) well spotted
Almost bought the box out of impulse, where I live the shipping fees would cost more than the box itself. After seeing your video it became clear that it is not worth it at all and I'll stick to the original boxes. Thanks.
Glad I helped you dodge a bullet there - it is really a difficult purchase to justify in my opinion :)
18:12 I thought the +1 Septim meant that you would receive an additional Septim when you sold your first item per turn.
It does
Really nice how to play! :)
Thank you. Glad you liked it :)
This video helped me the most on understanding and tackling this game a last year. Belated thank you for that. Just came back for a refresher. I may want to add that you kept mentioning that during the collect resource step during passing, you can receive resources from provinces you control "with a city". I feel certain that you do NOT need a city just to collect the single default resource from said province if you control it with out a city.
Great video. Really helped me understand as the rulebook is not written well. One thing to point out there is a misprint on the council board, third row, should show 2 dollars and 2 votes instead of one of each
That is a pretty serious misprint if that is really the case. The game is complex enough without cases like this :( anyways - welcome to the channel. Glad you liked the video :) stay tuned for more :)
