Ugly Betty is better than this show

Ruth’s character should have followed the Book of Ruth. In the book, Ruth leaves her home and heritage by following her in-laws after the death of Ruth’s husband. Ruth then marries a relative of the new family and gives birth. Ozark’s Ruth could’ve given birth to her boyfriend Ben Davis’ child and the Byrd’s would have to figure out what to do. Wendy would have a particular motivation toward her brother Ben’s child. This would be the replacement child Marty and Wendy lost in the car accident. The lost child and resulting grief which precipitated the unraveling of their marriage and motivated the poor choice Marty and Wendy made to start laundering money. The show could end with the baby being raised by Marty and Wendy. It would be their motivation to try to get out from under choices they made when they were grieving of a lost child.

I personally think that Ozark definitely had much better developed female characters than that of Breaking Bad. They showed greater depth and exploration on their psychology, beyond just bitch fighting (in my opinion). People plain hate on Skylar, but even though people hate Wendy as well, she’s just brilliant in a sort of way - you admire her. Of course with antagonists, Breaking Bad 100% takes the cake and the finale as well. But I have to say, I felt like the ending for Ozark was fitting - however it simply needed to be executed better or explored more over a few more episodes, so it feels more like a show finale rather than a season finale.

Season 3 was also bad

When the worst is season 14 it just shows how amazing of a show sunny is

Breaking bad and Ozarks did the thing everybody should be annoyed about - they brought in nothing, nobody characters that novody cared about who ended up taking out the characters that we all liked - Hank, Darlene, Ruth. It's out of order to fans and the characters.

Season 3 is the best season.

Die hard fans can't tell the difference, because they watch for entertainment only. But those paying attention will see the decline when Charlie, Rob and Glenn started doing movies and have as much time to craft episodes. I think season 12 was the last remnant of iasip bit had a lot of weak episodes. Season 13 onwards has been a real let down. Some great concepts but poorly concocted.

Ozark didn’t fail. It nailed it. No consequences for the rich while the poor can never improve their lot.

Seasons 11-15... it doesnt have the sunny vibe i was used to. I hate when shows get caught in the current political and social wave of the time. 1-9 best stuff out there. 10 is in the middle for me.

I thought Frank Vs Russia was a modern classic. Best episode in awhile.

Season 15 is the only season that i would personally call average not bad but not great either, every other season though is either great or GODLY Sunny might just be the greatest comedy show in history.

"ruth deserves so much more than that." i think you're missing a fundamental part of this show. theres a degree of realness that breaking bad simply cannot match. breaking bad is two parts crime drama one part sitcom one part tragic comedy. ozarks is cold, it is dark, and it is 100% crime drama no ifs ands or buts. she deserved more. but in real life, thats all she gets. there was too much going against her and she doesnt get her character defining moment of bravery saving the kids. all she gets is a bullet in the chest and 6 feet of dirt.

Korg is Taika's way of trying to feel relevant in a superhero film by sucking up to Thor. Taika is so full of himself he had to make Korg overstay his welcome. He's not important at all to the story. Like a stuck leech on Thor trying too hard to get some spotlight. Even acting as Thor's narrator just to have more screentime. Wtf

Will never understand why people bother trying to do this. It's all a matter of opinion. Each season has good episodes and meh episodes mixed in. So congrats on wasting your time?

I don't know why everyone is comparing Ruth to Jesse. Jesse was completely different and much more emotional. He never wanted to kill anyone and even if someone died in front of him he was completely devastated and affected him long term. Jesse was 1st approached by Walter for cooking meth and was reluctant at first and later always wanted out from it but Walter kept him from getting out of it. At the end even when Walter gave him money he just went and threw them away out of the car. And due to him being emotional Walter was caught. Now Ruth starting from the 1st stole money from Marty. When Marty explained that it is not safe for them to steal the drug money she was adamant to steal it. She herself went to Marty so that he can teach her money laundering and then later she can kill him. Killing was the 1st thought Ruth had in mind. Without any second thought she tried to kill Marty even when she knew he had children and a wife and he hadn't even done anything bad to them at all, and she would have been succeeded if Petty hadn't intervened. She killed her own 2 uncles and was pretty much seen unaffected in later episodes even justifying the killing. She indirectly told Wendy to kill her father as she can't do it and he will come back again and again. She assisted Darlene who has done a lot worse by killing an innocent mother and taking her baby out of the womb forcefully just cause her husband who is truthful doesn't want to do the dirty things, she helped hide the body of an innocent limo driver who was killed in front of her who was just being a bit greedy. She let Ben go out even though she was told he was not right in the head multiple times by multiple people. Wendy even told her if you want to be with him please help him take his medications which she ignored. Marty had told to get out of the business as Cartel was dangerous and her and her families life was in danger if she keeps selling heroin but she was too egoistical and didn't get out of it. When Marty had fired her as they were being scrutinized by the FBI as their businesses were shut down she always wanted to come back to work even though Marty didn't. She left three which was her responsibility as a guardian to kill a Drug Cartel Leader even though everyone told her it was not a good idea as her life will be in danger and eventually they were going to find out. She was not a good person from the start and was not as smart as Marty or Wendy to get herself out of danger.

Season 9, and 13 are my favorites

I liked Ozarks ending way more than BrBa's.. Don't get me wrong I'm watching a series to take a break from my life.. I want my favourite characters to win idfc

The car accident scene at the beginning spoiled so many potential good scenes. You knew people wouldnt die because the car scene hadnt happened yet

I love Ozark even more than BB, and just finished watching it for the third time. So shoot me. Bummer about Ruth, but her death was honest; it’s how it really would’ve been. Otherwise, she finishes the show incredibly wealthy and all her dreams come true… which is pure fairytale, doesn’t happen to people connected to the Byrdes, and she’s gotten away with three murders.

Homelander is narcisstic and an exhibitionist but he’s not the antagonist of the series if check out the comics he’s actually known as the red herring of the show which means he’s to distract you from main villain which is billy butcher!

Why did Ozark fail while Breaking Bad succeeded? The short answer was that breaking bad was beautiful, while Ozark was not. Everything in Breaking Bad is aesthetically pleasing, while everything in Ozark looks dreary. You come away with the idea that the Ozarks are a dreary shithole, and it is not hard to understand why the characters don't want to be there. If you want to make a place a shithole in a film, then you don't go with a half measure. The characters are all well developed, and more could certainly have been done with them. Obviously it is not over yet.

Okay, you've misunderstood the themes of Ozarks. In the Breaking Bad universe, it shows you how no matter what you do, you can't escape the consequences of your actions. Institutions are incorruptible, and there's no political element to prove you wrong. No one gets away with anything. No one is free from their sins. But in the Ozark universe, people do. Institutions are corrupt. Political elements show you how people move on with their lives without paying the price for their sins. Breaking Bad is an "optimistic" show, while Ozarks is "pessimistic." A happy, satisfying ending to Ozark is the opposite of what the show is about. Ruth dies because she let her emotions get the better of her when killing Javi. She couldn't become a cold-hearted monster like the Byrdes. And in the Ozark universe, if you let your emotions dictate your actions, you die. And it's even worse if you're a nobody. With no political or criminal connections, you're dead. In Ozarks, the bad, rich, cold-blooded people win while the good, poor, kind-hearted people die.

14 is definitely the weakest season but it’s stronger than some shows’ best seasons.
