Hi Meghan, my wife, @ daughters and myself are currently in Calgary. We're returning to Merida in March to renew our Temp Residency Visas. We are strongly consider to put our daughter into school in Merida for 2025/26 school year. Can we chat further on DM ?
Hi @LucianiDante We have multiple friends with kids in schools in Merida. Please contact us on WhatsApp or by text at +529997001820 and can assist you with some more info.
I live in Arizona and I can definitely deal with the weather, I already love and respect the culture and people. It's more tropical than the dry heat we deal with here in the States during Summer. I'm answering the comments of those that say they couldn't deal with the weather and left.😂😂 It's always crazy to me how some Westerners expect even the weather to obey them. I'm moving abroad for freedom, food and peace of mind... So the weather is a far off thought. It would have to be 300° for me to change my mind. Even then I would try to design a new AC.😂😂😂. Great channel! Keep it going please. The information is priceless.
Lived their 7 years. Be prepared for 1) EXTREME heat / humidity April to August 2) Ninja mosquitos 3) Concrete jungle with few green spaces and 4) Expensive electricity. If you can handle that, you will love the people, food, safety / vibe and many other positives...
I have been looking at numerous RUclips videos of Americans who currently live there and they love it.
MERIDA IS TOO HOT. Hola from Queretaro. Born in Chicago in 1942. I love audio videos that don't beg or play music. New Orleans kills more of each other. Murder capital of the USA. All 50 states eliminate each other by the thousands. God is in charge. Do not forget 911, Timothy McVeigh, Hitler, Israel, Garza, Lebanon, USA, Syria, Stop killing each other. God will have the final word. BEHAVE! Your GREEDY riches will not save you, You cannot buy honest people. NO matter how greedy or corrupt you are, you will take nothing with you in the end. Your arms are too short to box with GOD. GOD OWNS EVERYTHING. God is in charge worldwide. Please behave. Hola from Queretaro.
Spent a week out here (2024) with family as a young man from the Bay Area, California. Real easy going. Still busy, but not that intense hustle you'll find in the Bay or LA. Modern architecture, modern amenities with the areas roots/ history intertwined, but definitely a lot of room for growth. Never felt like I had to look over myself 24/7 with extra precaution. Recommend.
We want to visit. Pondering long term retire or expat living? Concerned it maybe too hot and humid. Do you miss the seasons of Canada. I think a private pool would be a must. Currently live in OR. Thank for your nice video. I did subcribe.
Merida is great for retirement, lots of our retired clients have bought in all areas of the city based on their unique preferences. It gets the hottest in May so it would be a good time for you to visit to learn if that is something you can adjust to or not. Some prefer to leave Merida between May and September to avoid the heat and humidity, we find and AC and Pool does enough for us. We definitely miss the fall weather but we now love the winter season in Merida. This December, we've been blesses with great weather! Cheers all the way to OR!
Thank you for responding. Not sure when we can visit so busy with jobs still here. Certainly will save your contact information as a realtor and resource. In today's dollars we would be $300-500k US budget. As you mentioned renting would be the smarter choice to give it a try. Thanks for the visit in May advise. Lived most of my life in Virginia area of US so familiar with humidity!
START BY NOT PRONOUNCING MERIDA IN ENGLISH. IT SOUNDS LIKE MIERDA. SHORT E... ME RI DA

Thank you for sharing. I am moving to Merida in the next year. I'm excited for the unknown & to meet NU people.
We hope your experience is awesome!

Very informative Mucho gracias❤❤❤
Glad it was helpful for you! Merida is awesome! We will making an updated cost of living in Jan 2025 so stay tunned!
The dedication you put into your work is remarkable. It's no wonder your business is thriving!" "Watching your business grow has been so inspiring. Keep up the amazing work!"
That’s such great feedback! We appreciate and are thankful to keep helping our community 🖤
VERY nice place. Great walk through. My minor suggestion would be to tell us how much the rental is in the video. It's annoying for some us to view a place on RUclips and then have to go to a separate website to see what the price may be. I understand the daily rate is factored in...but you can give us a roundabout dollar amount. I would LOVE to rent that exact unit. How many pesos to US currency?
Thank you for your comment, we appreciate the feedback. Even though Casa Magnolia is still available on Airbnb, our intention and services to the owner is to sell it only that's why we omitted any rental info and only listed the selling price of $11,490,000 MXN Casa Magnolia could generate between $25,000 - $40,000 USD per year on rental income! Hope this helps and please let us know if there is any specific videos you'd want to see in our channel!
@yucatanrealestategroup THANK YOU!!!!
Beautiful home, thanks for sharing. I am certain it has sold by now however would love to see similar ones. Vive el sueño

We're looking between there and Cali, Colombia
If it is for an investment property, Airdna might have enough data for you to make a decision. If you plan to live partially or full-time in the property, Merida is much safer than Cali.
Hola from Queretaro. God is in charge. Enjoy your money. Pay rent first. Work overtime or extra jobs. Help others. Enjoy life. Travel
Thanks for your message. Love the energy! Best wishes to you!
Too hot
Thanks for your message. Heat tolerance is subjective. Myself, David Casanova writing, born and raised in Merida always hated the heat, still do, but I hate winters even more. Hot for some, and just fine for many others, but we love Merida for the balanced lifestyle.
I'm single 62 and may come there in 7 months, looking for a place to retire. Tell me about studios and one bedroom apts. Price if you can,Please and Thank you
Hey @vicemurry4201 - if you're looking for studio and 1 bedroom condos, you will those heavily available in the north of the city. Here is a list of 1 bedroom availability from our website: www.yucatanrealestategroup.com.mx/properties/apartment-type?min_bedroom=1&sort_by=price-desc
Great info - background music too loud unfortunately
Thanks for the feedback, I'll let the editing team know to be more careful next time!
Hope you all are safe out there … from Miami we’re getting prepared
Can I call & ask advise maegan for free?

We need advise on affordable furn apt.? 1 & 2 bd rms
Finding an affordable furnished apartment can be a challenge, but there are definitely options out there! Facebook Market place is typically a good place to start
Is water a problem drinking and bathing?
City water in Merida is pretty heavy on minerals. Depending on budget, some use water softeners and reverse osmosis to make drinkable. Which area of the city will you be staying on?
Great summary
Thank you!
Luv this video and this channel.
Thank you for the feedback 🙌 Let us know if there is a specific topic you would like us to make video of!
could you show more of regular priced, average housing? with $600k cost I would not move to Merida, whatever luxury can it be. at $600k price point, we can find many alternatives in the States
Thank you for your comment. We're in the process of scheduling homes in Merida between $250,000 and $400,000. They should be posted in September! If you have a prefer area you are interested, please comment below and we'll make a video for it! Even though lots of homes can be found in the States for the same price lots of people are choosing Merida because of the lifestyle that it offers. Many choosing price ranges over 600,000 USD.
how much of this unit ?
yeah, the most important question. with this not answered, saved my time not watching
Thank you for your comment. We've updated the description to include the prices. In this development, there is 5 units ranging between $7,550,000 and $9,150,000 MXN. Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thanks for the feedback! We've included the price in the description now. Please comment if you wish to have an specific area of price range in the city and we will work on getting those uploaded in the next few months!
@@yucatanrealestategroup thanks for the information, // generally speaking, I would prefer the central Mexico area, Qurétaro, San Miguel, Lake Chapala, etc, all with high elevation, cool summer nights with no need of AC unit. If you can show more of the non-luxury regularly priced housing options look like in the Mérida, then can be more attractive
I have visited Merida in the past and I love it there. I plan to live there.
Love to hear that! Please reach out if you need any help when moving/settling here! We’re launching what we think to be the most helpful free guide for Merida’s real estate soon where we’ll be adding all the information an international might need when moving and settling here in a simple PDF so stay tuned for it!
We are moving from the US to Merida in September! The biggest question we have now is what do we bring with us? What things are easy to buy and which are not?
@@yucatanrealestategroup Hi; am interested in a compact 2 bedroom 1.5/2 bathroom house in Merida Norte. Can you help regarding what’s available (designs), cost range, etc please?
@@mariamarin7226 There is lots of options that we can share with you. Please email us at info@yucatanrealestategroup.com so we can share them.
these types of companies are the reason expats are moving out of mexico and other countries, because try to profit more than the countries actual true cost. they raise the cost to outside the normal rate, but this only benefits them, and harms the countries people, but no one will go there and spend money, because of them manipulating the area to jack up the cost, out side what the people can even afford. the locals could benefit if they kept the cost normal and treated people well, then more people would come and want to spend, but the price is jacked up, they feel cheated and hate the people and area. its common sense. foreigners come to countries, and try to charge people the same price as america, which not what it really is in the countries, when they do this, the people that move to countries like mexico, feel so cheated, they would rather leave, and now the country has less people to buy their services, and to be honest, most expats dont have alot to spend when they get retirement. this is all a scam that harms everyone except the people trying to sell over priced.
Even thought what you're describing can happen in Merida and other areas of Mexico, I'm not sure how you're qualified to to rate our business or business intentions when you've never actually worked with us or anyone related to our business. Before submitting a review of our business or any business for that matter do more research or actually use the business. If you've been taken advantage by other business that's unfortunate but what're describing above couldn't be farther from truth about our business. Our business exist to protect internationals from the bad experiences you're describing as those practices are done mainly by locals and/or other foreigners that have been burned and start taking advantage of others to compensate. I invite you to watch all our videos so you can understand more about the difference we're making as a business or read our google reviews by international clients. Making these videos takes time and resources we don't get back and we do it with the intention of having transparent information in English so those bad experiences don't happen to the most vulnerable that might not speak the language. Our co-founder David Casanova is local of Merida, employs other locals and helps everyone (local or international) to have the best experience possible. So again, I hope you infrom yourself more before just giving a negative opinion of something you don't know. Thank you for your comment either way as it will create perspective for those watching this video in the future.
@@yucatanrealestategroupGreat Comeback! Appreciate your insights and information

Yes, we're working on a video right now after we received your question but for now feel free to check FB pages for expats in Merida - there are some great options for immigration experts
@@yucatanrealestategroup Thank you sooooo much!
I think you’re forgetting a BIG issue. AMERICANS CANNOT OWN LAND IN MEXICO. Honestly this place seems very expensive for Mexico, and I live in San Diego California!
As a real estate business specialized in helping internationals, WE KNOW HOW TO HELP AMERICANS BUY IN MERIDA. Maybe you just havent done enough research as you find it expensive. Also, while it might feel expensive for you, Merida is cheaper that most places in California. Many of our clients have come from LA, San Francisco and even San Diego. Lastly, this channel is to provide information to those seeking to get more info about what it is like to live here so if you're not interested in Merida, you are watching the wrong videos 🤷♂
What is the weather like right now in Merida is it worth going at the moment ?
We're kinda late to respond but we've been having lots of rain - were you able to visit?
Hey! Looking to stay in Merida for a couple months but finding it hard to locate an area that meets all my needs. hoping for some help. I will not have a car, but also can't be in a loud area due to working from home (client meetings all day). I'd like to be in walking distance of grocery store and short uber distance to downtown and all the cool place to see on the weekends. So close to where things are convenient but far enough where it is quiet. Is this possible?
Hi there! Thank you for you comment! Some areas in Centro (Downtown) can be busy and loud but you can definitely find some quieter streets. If you want to make it easier and being around everything but not in the middle of it some neighbourhoods that could be a good fit are Itzimna, Garcia Gineres and Colonia Aleman near centro. If being around centro is not a most and you just need walkable amenities like groceries and restaurants, Montebello and Altabrisa are really great areas to live in the north. For short term rentals, in most cases its best to use an app like Airbnb. Other good places to look into are small property management companies, Easy Aviso and Facebook groups for rentals in Merida. Hope that is helpful in your search and hope your experience in Merida is AMAZING!
@@yucatanrealestategroup Wow this was beyond helpful!! Thank you so much! ❤
@@TheSamoura88 You're welcome! We hope your experience in Merida is awesome!
I believe the world belongs to everyone but I also believe you should be considerate to the people who are used to living in a certain way in their own environment. Please consider that coming to live here is cheaper for you, but also the cost of living here is slowly rising for the locals because of the high demand for houses from non-locals. You might be able to afford that house, but for us living next to you now, things have started to become a little more expensive at rate that has taken us by suprise. We can't stop you from buying a house here, but I thought I should at least say something to bring awareness to this issue because these videos only say how great coming to Mérida is for you.
Hi Roberto! Thanks for your comment! David Casanova and co-founder of our business was born and raised in Merida and definitely agrees that the increased costs in real estate in Merida are making it harder for locals to purchase new homes. Unfortunately, this is a trend for most places in the world and specifically most places in North America after the Pandemic. Compared to some places in Canada and US and even other states in Mexico, Merida is still a very affordable option. Because how good Merida is compared to those places, lots of people will continue to move here in the near future, most from other states in Mexico but some others from other international spots. Our channel's intention is just to inform others transparently what living in Merida feels like and help them with their real estate needs.
STOP SPREADING COMMUNIST PROPAGANDA!!! When you get off your high horse and look around, you'll see that the vast majority of newcomers to Merida, Yucatan are MEXICANS THAT ARE BUYING INVESTMENT PROPERTIES FOR SHORT-TERM RENTALS, AND RELOCATING FROM OTHER AREAS OF MEXICO!!!
I'm going to be retiring in about 6 years, and it looks like Merida will be the place for me! I'm in Vancouver Canada, and a 700sq ft. condo is $650,000 here, and it rains 8 months of the year. So sick of it.
Sorry to hear that. Merida is a great option for retirement. It's recommended that you visit before making a long term decision but the cost of living is definitely lower compared to Vancouver.
@@yucatanrealestategroup For sure! I've been to Cancun and Cabo several times. I own my my own house outright, homes on my street are selling for 1.25 million Canadian. Which seems like a lot, but that's an average 4 bedroom house here. I will be able to buy a home there cash deal and still have plenty left, plus my work and Canada pension. I'm really looking forward to living in the sun!
Don't wait... you can retire and move here now. It's going to be much more expensive in 6 years.
I’m very interested in moving to Mexico. What’s my fist step please
Have you been here before? We can help answering some questions. Use the information in our description to get in touch with our team!
Learn Spanish and save money!
What if you're a Mexican resident? You still have to pay property taxes?
Yes, we all do. The property tax when buying is different to the one you will have every year though. When buying the "acquisition tax" is typically around 4%. Once bought yearly property taxes are typically less than $15,000 MXN.
❤
❤
Wow. Merida has gotten quite expensive since I last lived there in 2016. 😳
Yes, like in most places Merida's cost of living increased drastically after the pandemic
We want to retire (maybe in 10-15 years) in Merida but were considering buying a property now and use it as AIRBNB do you think that is possible or are there any restrictions? what location is close to the beach but is also close to shopping centers and city?
Hi @mariamarquez, thanks for your comment. Merida is a great place to retire and also a great market for short-term rental investments. There is no restrictions to invest and we can help you through the entire process. Lastly, the best market right now for short-term rentals is Downtown. $300,000-$400,000 USD is a good range for 2 bedroom homes with a pool. These homes could generate $25,000 - $40,000 USD if managed properly. For more information please message us on whatsapp: wa.me/529997001820 or book a free consultation: www.yucatanrealestategroup.com/consult
How much is a country home with about half to one acre?, I like country living and like gardening. Thanks for the great information and video.
The prices will range quite drastically depending on the location. Land in the north of the city is the most expensive. You can find other areas 50-60 mins away from the city where large properties in good condition are starting at $180,000 USD. Hope that helps! You cessage us if you need more information: wa.me/529997001820

Health care, health care, health care-quality and costs of service. Family doctors available, , or only walk-in clinics? Thanks.-
Family doctors ara available. Depending on their experience some of the best bilingual doctors in some of the best hospitals and clinics will range between $600-$1,200 pesos per consultation.
Great video! We are considering relocating to Merida and will contact you.
We look forward to hearing from you!
