What 'The Last of Us' Gets Wrong About Post-Apocalyptic Fashion | Behind the Seams
What would people *really* be wearing 20 years after a zombie apocalypse? HBO's hit "The Last of Us" goes with the classic rugged, salvaged look, but skips some more interesting ideas about what post-apocalyptic culture might look like. Also, would Joel and Ellie's clothes really fit THAT well?

The Big Problem With "Best Costume" Oscar Winners | Behind the Seams
Просмотров 4,7 тыс.Год назад
The Oscars don't always award the "best" work of the year. Often, they celebrate the biggest, showiest contenders. And that's certainly true of highly technical awards like "Best Costume Design," which leans heavily toward nominating period and fantasy pieces. But contemporary dramas and comedies also deserve costume recognition. With the 2023 Oscars right around the corner....let's go Behind t...

"Queer Trek" an acquired taste. Not everyone wants to be bludgeoned by things that don't seem natural to them. I can't imagine UHURA doing a Lesbian scene because the Writers want to be current and maybe a little cute. No, NICHELLE brought too much FIRE in establishing her STARFLEET Character for her to be anything but all WOMAN. PS. One of the "Post Trek" TOS Series has Kirk's nephew on board the ENTERPRISE and so is his MALE LOVER. Yes there is even intimacy between the characters. So Established TREK just learning from the Fans. Smart.

Sturm truppen are from WW1 ! NO nazis in 1914 1918 war Pfffff...it's begin well ! : Armor problem is Thermoformed plastic manufacturing process (why ? because low manufacturing cost for the film, the comfort of wearing it is after...poor extras actors inside during movie they suffered !), the pieces are very thin and cause pain with pinching of the skin at the joints, the solution ? no more thermoformed manufacturing ! but in injected ABS, or you can leave thicknesses of material near each joint (arms and legs) and also be able to shorten (while keeping the internal bead) and adapt the ends of each piece to each bodies, thanks to this surplus of material (which is not heavier than a thermo armor) here is the solution friends, this ABS version seems not to exist yet today...I'm coming....

The "gold" uniform tunics were actually a yellow green color called chartreuse green. This color sits between yellow and green in the color wheel. However, on the show the tunics took on a golden-yellow color both under the lights used on the set and in the post-development film stock. As for what Nichelle Nichols says, it was absolutely true. In fact, a "behind the scenes" anecdote is told that she often would tug her tunic higher and bunch it up in the back as she sat in her chair. She did this to show more leg... in order to be more noticeable in the background. Several times she went a little too far and they had to do another scene take. Look at the episode "A Taste of Armageddon" for an example.

Goes to show how views can change from generation to generation. How something liberating in one generation is oppression in another. How the style went from prudish to sexually liberated back to somewhat prudish again within a few decades. I think I remember a scene from a gilligan's island movie where they finally got back to the mainland and the skipper was talking about what they missed while on the island and said how the skirts went from down here, to up here, and then back down to here.

I don't see how the uniforms have anything to do with gender roles. I'm not claiming the original series presented "really healthy gender roles" - it didn't. But it has nothing to do with uniforms. As you pointed out here, at the time of filming the mini was regarded as a positive statement by independent women. Leave it to us modern folk to find a way to take ANYTHING and make it bad. We specialize in that as far as I can tell. We just love to criticize and condemn.

Star trek was and still is my favorite franchise of all time. I was 8 whem it came out. it was the most progressive tv series. It change TV forever. It had many firsts. Too many to list. It was thought provokes tackling many subjects that were not talked about. It changed scioty inmany was. It still is the onlyy franchise to show humanity as it should be. About the costumes and uniforms well it was the 1960s. Youcan not judge Star Trek by todays norms. And I sent a letter to Desilu studios to keep Star Trek on the air. I love the new effects from the bluray editions. It finally made Star Trek as it should have been but the technolgy was non exitance.
