@@danahamilton Thank you, Dana!
A very inviting project. I would have benefited a lot, if your hand hadn't t obscured your painting process at times.

Thanks for sharing! Great examples of texture making.
@@jc1865 Thank you! Creating textures is one of the fun things about watercolors.
Quin Gold made the entire painting glow. I love to use this paint for the first layer in animal eyes. It makes them look alive.
@@rainbowfox1934 Yes, Q Gold is my favorite. Mix it with Mineral Violet and you get a beautiful brown. The pigment is no longer being manufactured, so paint suppliers are mixing blends to reproduce it.
This is one of the most beautiful autumn watercolor scenes I've watched an artist create. The sun just made it all come to life...❤

@@melindakoger6128 Thanks for your feedback, Melinda. I’m glad my narration is helpful. I’m very interested in how pigments behave. Happy to hear you like my work. - Doris
So beautiful! You are using negative painting again? I love the Mineral Violet. I have only recently heard of it. You inspire me!
@@melindaavila498 Thanks so much, Melinda. I love negative painting. It’s like waving a magic wand.
Beautiful, peaceful! I had not heard of Mineral Violet. I will search for it , or what colors to use to make it.
@@melindaavila498 Thank you, Melinda. Mineral Violet is made by Holbein. It is a combination of Ultramarine, Magenta and a brown (not sure which brown, but a dab of burnt sienna might be a good substitute). I like it because it is a warmer purple than dioxazine violet and is not as staining. If you combine Mineral Violet with Quinacridone Gold you get a beautiful brown.
I love this painting!!! The video was so lovely and enjoyable to watch, it does inspire me to try it!!❤ Thank you so much for sharing 😊

Doris, Thank you for this great tutorial You give great explanations and explain the mixing of colors and how to lift off, create negative painting techniques and how to make just enough details to make the painting worthwhile. Thanks again for your lesson. Don Sylvester Houston, Texas
@@DonaldSylvester-l6j Thanks for your comment, Don! I hope you’ll view some of my other videos.
Oh how I love the quin gold and have used it a few times as it makes a painting glow. I have never liked the sponged trees or background because I can spot it when an artist uses it no matter how hard they try to disguise it.
@@Catherine-rt9un Thanks for your comment, Catherine. I used to be a purist when it came to watercolor. But over the course of 15 years of teaching, I’ve embraced all kinds of techniques. Have you tried mixing Q. Gold with Mineral Violet (Holbein)? It makes a beautiful brown.
Absolutely beautiful!
@@maggiengo8717 Thank you, Maggie!
I love to paint with watercolor. You don’t need to precisely and you don’t have to worry about mistakes. If you don’t like it, you paint it over or make it wet and wipe it away with a tissue. I love painting forest, urban sketch and minimalistic people. It is amazing with tiny details you can see what it is. Love the artwork and the golden forest.❤
@@Speurneuscosmo Watercolor is more forgiving than people think. You just have to be open to the unexpected. I’m so glad you like the painting.
