Intruder Nostalgia Part 2: Night Trap
Просмотров 30 тыс.13 лет назад
Cockpit cam in A-6E Intruder during night carrier recovery. First attempt is waved off for fouled deck. Can hear all typical radio calls of a night recovery at sea. This is raw and unedited so feel free to skip ahead. For the salty fleet guys half the fun is listening to the comms from Strike, Marshall and Paddles.. Note the Paddles calls to the guy on the ball ahead of us.

Parkzone Habu pilot camera video. The camera is a Veho VCC003MUVI Micro DV Camcorder. Search for it on Amazon.com. It records to a micro SC card. The whole camera is smaller than a 9V battery.

I Survived a RC Plane Crash

Bummer. The plane was a production ARF. I decided to soup it up with a larger motor but didn't factor in the stress that this would cause on the stock motor mount. I also mounted a micro cam on the magnetically mounted canopy. The motor mount failure induced a violent pitch-over and the canopy/camera assembly were ejected in flight. Enjoy the ride. After the impact, I picked up the camera and f...
That's some Sierra Hotel Flying gentleman. Thank you for sharing. Rah!
Got dark on you gentleman with a quickness. Nice work. Professionalism at its finest. Rah!
Perfect in the dark groove 3 wire OK PASS!
Retired from service too soon. Absolutely love the A-6!
What year is this from
Nothing can replace the A-6 or A-7!!
Love the prowler.
My son is on a mission to recover an A-6 crash site that occurred in Panama in 1985. I'm a retired Chief and always admired the A-6... almost as much as the F-14. This video is a clear indicator of what mission the A-6 was built to complete. Much admiration for those that flew it...
Brings back memories, tnx ... VA-52 BN
EVERYONE loves Low Level flying. I don’t care what you fly you want to fly it LOW!
Great video!
My dad was a Boomer, and an Intruder. Thought I recognized that helmet
My Old Squadron... Go Boomers... ;)
I served with VMA-(AW)-533 from 78 to 82. I was an avionics tech and if you're into avionics, it doesn't get any more 'star wars'' than that. At least for the 70s. Great pilots, great bird! Ugly, but if you want to put bombs on target in 0 viz, call in the A-6's!
The A6 was about the loudest jet I can remember. From NAS Meridian or NAS Coronado or NAS Cubi Point. When they came by or took off it was LOUD. They seemed to hold more ordinance than any other Naval aircraft.
Great video, not sure why it showed up on my feed, but heck who cares. Love seeing the old A-6, miss them flying over my house everyday!
My fav navy plane,love it
I'd probably say the F-111 and A6 are my favorite strike aircraft. Just something about those side by side cockpits.
I know a fellow who flew weapons on an A6. He said that it was a great aircraft, very smooth ride. He and the pilot were a team and worked together seamlessly, anticipating every move. He also said that the looping twisting rides at an amusement park were more aggressive than anything he every flew in combat.
Thanks for the video, hearing those comms is awesome for a naval aviation fan like myself. cheers
These vids are worth there weight in gold
👍😉
Awesome 👍
The last great stick and rudder ship.
Is this during the Gulf War in 1991?
back in the day rules were - gloves on; visor down; landing lights on - before low level
Former VMA (AW)-121 A-6 Marine here. Great plane!
Green Knights are the best. 86 to 92
Man if I could fly any aircraft in history it would be the a6,f4,p51 and p38 probley the most would be the a6 fast stable and looks fun
I did a west pac back in 80, always thought the A6 was sexy
I found it cool even as a kid! Might not be pretty and supersonic but I was always more into the ground hugging any time any weather fighters! Only thing that always bothered me was the lack of a proper cannon.
I wish they would've kept the A-6, just update the damn thing with modern avionics and perhaps more efficient engines and it'd still be as valuable today as it was back then. The B-52 is still flying because it just WORKS, same with the A-6.........
Those tape artefacts looks like tracers xD
Devil 505 .....feet dry! Iron hands my thing! Put your mask on there gunna be a gun fight!. ............what movie? 👍
Flight of the Intruder
Hell yea!
Cole Virgil Cole
you had 4900 pounds of fuelby the time you landed I believe. Your Tail number is 503...Sweet. Did Intruders have a Max allowable landing weight on land as well?
F22/f35= junk👆👎👎👎😒
Looks like Oman? If it was pre 1991 then I met a few 'Boomers' on that detachment, as they acted as FACs with my dad. I remember 'Squiggy' and co well. :)
The A-6E is The Ugly in The Triune "The Good "F-14", The Bad EA-6B"and The Ugly"A-6E"). The Ugly - Holy Toledo it's A Fish(Their Ugly Fish). Yamamoto Knew They are The reason he told them he will tell the Emperor Himself why The Americans didn't stop coming.
Oh how I miss that wonderful aircraft!
Thanks for the memories, Mark VA-52 B/N
Really wanted to fly those but was not to be. Would have been a short career, they went away 4 years after I was winged and with the jet pipeline at the time I would have never seen them. I think we would have had Intruders past 2010 had they bought the A6F.
BEST BOMBERS THE NAVY EVER HAD ! VA-42 & VA-85 1976-1980.
ruclips.net/video/MvyBrX1eK4I/видео.html
I was a plane captain in VA-42 NAS Oceana 1972-1975. Enjoyed working with A-6s
Very cool video
Did you guys see the F-111 pass under them at 1.2 mach? They didn't either... Go Air Force!
Boomer AO 87-90
Another DoD blunder cancelling the upgrades (A-6F Intruder II) to the A-6 for the A-12 Avenger which was not even near production when the entire project was scrapped; forcing the use of the F-14 for the role which in turn was retired and now only the F-18 in service. Now we're stuck with a dog call F-35 and none of the 3 (F-14, F-18, and F-35) has the range and payload of the A-6. One giant step backwards.
Well even with the -F model upgrades, the Intruder was still a bit behind on the survivability curve. The Avenger's failure probably cost the Navy more than any other bad decision since the jet age. Maybe the A-6F would have been decent as a stopgap, but I just don't know. Russian SAMs were getting more and more sophisticated.
Which motor? The 25 or the 25 BL
Desert Shield ?
VA-165 Boomers, 92-95, AZAN
Every so often an alarm tone sounds. What does the updownupdownupdown tone indicate or warn of?
It's the radar altimeter going off as he flies through the bugged altitude
