My how the weather differs in all parts of the world. Born in Pennsylvania. Where there’s (sNOw) then Houston where the temps set on hell. I travel often. There my friend kept saying pack your boots lol. I was like why? She also said bring a jacket. I laughed I’m from Pa it’s snow. Therefore Mexicos weather isn’t cold to me. I was happily enjoying that breeze is what I title it.

This is a lovely video of San Jose del Cabo and the wonderful shops it has to offer around the square (centro). A small town known for their art, food and beaches. You’re getting ripped off! $80-$100 dollars a night is outrageous. I stayed in a place called Tlalpan for two weeks, great area, quiet, nice paved streets and only payed $26 dollars per night! I am Colombian and live Mexico City!

It may be very late but you mentioned you hadn’t rode the metro. I was in Mexico City last May and I took it and it was absolutely awful. I am from Medellin, Colombia and our subway station is way better than CDMX. If you haven’t done it, don’t do it.

You should have received an official government receipt for the taxes paid. A few years ago my friend got caught for "taxes" at the same airport. He was bringing kitchen items for his aunt. He speaks fluent Spanish and everything went down in Spanish. They wanted him to pay the "taxes" because they claimed that the value exceed $500 dollars, and to pay in cash because their credit card terminal was not working. He argued with them about the value, but then he said he would pay but told them he wanted a receipt. They said their printer wasn't working either. Eventually they knew that he knew what was going on and let him go. I also got scammed in Cancún by a cop for allegedly running a red light. He wanted $4,000 pesos but I didn't have that much. He said I could pay with a credit or debit card. I tried with my Amex but he said it was declined, so I used my Visa. Both transactions went through. When I looked at the transactions I realized that he was using his personal terminal that has nothing to do with traffic or government. I got on the phone with both Amex and Visa and got those charges reversed. Visa sent a dispute to him but it's been a few months and he hasn't responded. Probably because it would identify who he is.

I have been to many many places in Mexico.And the problem is for me is nothing compares to Mexico City...Every other place I go to I always compare it to CDMX.And nothing compares.Am currently in Bogota and it is highly underrated.I like it much better than Medellin....

It did happen to me with my drone. Even it was 1 year old drone they claim it was a new drone so they have to tax it. They started asking for U$250 and after my constant refusals they lower down the price systematically until I accepted to pay $30 because I got tired and already stuck there for 30 minutes. Yes it is a scam either by the government or some thieves wearing uniforms. To me it makes no difference whatsoever who is running the scam.

my computer and iPad went in their scanner, he stopped me and asked why I carry two computers and that theres tax. I said its old iPad and old computer. (actually not true) but it was close call. they brushed me away. I didnt look rich, I had not slept 48hrs. looked like a hobo, saved me.

Anytime this happens in the future, just tell them that you will be contacting Profeco. This is one of a few agencies in Mexico who is not corrupt. These employees would have been fired literally the next day. This agency protects the tourists and expats from this type of situation. Look up Profeco, you will see. Take a picture of the profeco Logo and save it on your cell phone so you can show them you will call this agency.........they will run like cockroaches.

an Import tax is not a scam, something when you drive in to Mexico from the U.S. if you bring new furniture you pay a tax.
