Mindfulness Will NOT Solve Anxiety
Ahh Mindfulness. Calming your mind. THE current go-to method for dealing with anxiety. It changes lives, and is being taught e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e.
Shoot me if you must then… But…
What if I were to tell you: it’s the worst thing you can practice to resolve anxiety and other emotional health issues.
Gulp!
Now, why would I ever challenge this, you may wonder? Clinical trials have unanimously concluded that mindfulness reduces anxiety. It’s a slam dunk, in fact.
To understand why, please watch this third video in my series questioning current ‘treatments’ for anxiety, depression, PTSD and more.
But I have a bit more to say about it here.
I challenge this, for three reasons:
1. Many avid practitione...

However it's not working and I believe the fear came from my past childhood traumas but despite counseling for the past 4 years I'm still stuck in figh5 or flight and freeze. We have a self-help book author in Finland whose main teaching is You'll get things when you give up on those things. Probably stolen from someone else as all the wisdom has been there for thousands of years, but in any case, the logic is the same. I'm a living example of that teaching. I've never been so keen on money and it lead to nice income without so much effort. But I desperately long for love in life. When I had it I was so worried of losing it that I self-sabotaged it. Accepting the thought of never being loved again is too much for me. I know I'm stuck due to that. I just can't give up hope. I have never viewed my anxiety from that perspective but I'm sure that's more doable to me. I'll certainly give it a try. 👍

One gets what one let's go, so we don't want that to be anxiety. :) Just the opposite.

      Not exactly. Your word- "uneasy" is another name for fear. so if you want to be honest with yourself: Start by calling it fear. As for the second part: you do not 'let it out' which suggests you have control over it, which you do not. You, let it be. And feel it. Emotional are meant to be felt, not thought about. I swear I love doing Wim hof breathing so much. But it makes me so calm that it turns to complacency. Which leads to anxiety or procrastination. I can't beat this anxiety and fear for nothing. But being calm hasn't helped it all.

    I started trembling from anxiety about 2 years ago. It’s exhausting and paralyzing. I have found that an hour or more of a walk daily stops the cortisol and adrenaline. But when I skip a day the breathing and breath holds have helped. So I should stop the breathing exercises? Does that mean yoga and qigong shouldn’t be an outlet for stress and anxiety? They are both use breathing as a tool.

    • @kristenulmer1970
      @kristenulmer1970 2 года назад

      By all means do yoga and qigong. But contrary to how they are taught, can you use them instead to connect with and feel your anxiety (aka fear) with the key being, you do this not as a way to get rid of them. To make sure you're on point see them as a person who lives in your body who is upset. Treat them with love and feel them. Period. Nothing more, even if the instructors suggests otherwise. That kind of attention to your fear makes it feel better, and because they've in your body thus you also feel better.

    Thank you! This literally explains how I went from tweaking my arm in the gym and having pain and discomfort from it to a full on panic attack that I was having a heart attack because of the arm pain. I was letting that one minor event run rampant in my mind by allowing the fear to stay and control my mind and it snowballed. Now it’s ouch, avoid that and let’s keep moving on.

    • @kristenulmer1970

      Yes, fear doesn't ever become a problem if you "allow" fear, which is a wonderful emotional, to naturally flow in your life. Then nothing gets weird.
