Reckon the 9800X3D is still fine if you like having youtube/twitch videos running in the background?I like to listen to stuff in the background while playing games and am wondering if I'd get stutters by having a chrometab up in the background playing a video.Only reason im even considering the intel 14700k/14900k because any background stuff gets offloaded to the e-cores while you play.
Hello! Thanks for the video. I have my primary router connected through the wall to a secondary router. My Quest is connected to the secondary router via WiFi and my PC is connected to the wall via Ethernet. This configuration doesn't work and in my Quest it is said "not same local network". The only way it kind of worked is when both the PC and the quest were connected to the secondary router via internet, but I guess it would be way faster to have the PC connected to Ethernet. Do you know how to solve my problem? Thanks a lot
You need to have your secondary router connected to you primary router. Then on your secondary router have it set in operation mode to "access point" use the secondary router to feed wifi to your quest 3. I am assuming you are using a wifi 6e router as your secondary router. You can either have your pc wired connected to either router. Please let me know and don't forget to subscribe. it will help me out
A quick update, what i suggested in the video about using H.264+ still rings mostly true IF you have a NVidia card ONLY. if you have AMD or INTEL then you can still use avi or HEVC according to your preference.
I've decided to release these videos from private to public. In case anyone subbed in gaming sessions sees this. i know its not game related so i haven't categorized it as such. If you want to see more on how this project ended, please leave a comment below and i might release the rest. thanks

Something isn't right with your setup, not sure what that is, but I just tested that exact save position from HL Alyx and there are no drops in FPS and latency, really took my time to be on the exact spot, did all sorts of things around it and it just didn't happen, 90fps and around 30 latency, on AV1 codec though (I tested H264+ and 500mbps with various games and AV1 just performs better in my case), cpu is 7800x3d and GPU is 7900xtx, what is more interesting is that the router is Archer 5400AEX, but for some reason Quest3 can't see 6E so I had to enable 5Ghz and coonect Quest3 to that one, it's on 2400 mbps (Quest 3 says it's type 6E, but VD reports it as 5GHz 2400mbps), if you are really curious I can record a video, let me know, it's not a problem to record it.
@@kaysersozze oh really? Oh wow. Please do. I will happily correct the record if I was wrong. I only published what I tested and experienced but if it’s not a consistent constant experience then I should let others know. Thanks for your input

@ Obs can’t capture the overlay. You need to record from within the quest itself or cast what you are viewing on the quest to a monitor /pc then record the viewing with obs

Nice video, You can hold down the flat button on the right quest controller and look in the direction you want to centre it to, or you can bring up the steam vr panel whilst in game with the flat button on the left controller and centre it from the horizontal menu panel, or you can assign a button in AMS2 to centre your view. Also, you can navigate the menu whilst in game by using the mouse, much eadier and faster. 😊

These tech reviewers need to start showing how they test the CPU as well as the frame time graphs. There is no doubt the averages and even the 1% are good on the x3d but there is enough rumbling about these dips to the point that if it weren't the case, it should be clear in frame time graphs. I was going to get an x3d but heard about this and the rabbit hold goes deep, so I'm going to stick with what I know works and hold my money.
Thanks, this even works for Firefox.

remove MSI afterburner from pc and test again and let me know if you still get stutter
@@reboot1337 this only solves a tiny, TINY portion of the issue. The main issue is the garbage chiplet, 3D vcache design in the cpu that causes consistent stuttering. It will never, & I mean NEVER go away, it’s a design flaw. Enjoy :)
Just subd, love your info regarding VD quick question i noticed you still use h.264+ instead of AV1 for quest 3 in vd i know its only 200mbps and h.264+ is 500mbps but is av1 through vd not recommended like it says in vd recommended av1?
@@paulm1606 thanks Paul for the question and for subscribing. So it really depends on the game you are playing. So if you are playing a slow pacing game like Alyx then you can use AVI possibly though I would still argue it’s better to use h.264+ and I also have a video on the channel demonstrating why. For fast game like race simulations you should definitely pick h.264+ every time cause it benefits from the less compression. It’s not all the recommendations VD suggest you should do cause they are recommending the safest options. If you have an optimal setup then you can afford to break those rules
Check out my video titled virtual desktop guide update. I go over reasons why H.264+ is also the codec to pick everytime IF you have the right router (6e)
Not sure if this is related but I read somewhere that MSI Afterburner can cause stutters. I generally try to run as few processes as possible when I play games on PC,

Had AMD and Intel over the years. Both were good. I have a 13600KF (2022) desktop, and a 2023 13980HX laptop. Both work great. Before that a I had a FX8350 desktop and 4600h laptop. The FX8350 aged like fine vine when multithreading became a real thing. I think it is a firmware and BIOS settings problem, that will get ironed out over time, just like the problems with the new Core Ultra 2 processors. There are a lot of options to choose from today, just choose what suits your needs best. AMD or Intel.
I remember reading somewhere it’s just a flaw in the design, once the cache fills up, it starts dipping.
You might be right, I'm still learning about it all
@@gamingsessions77 that’s pretty much exactly how it works. The averages are complete & utter garbage. These know nothing sheep clowns buy all these x3d chips (arrow lake is no better hardly imo) deal with constant stuttering paired with a garbage daily experience & every single thing u do on ur PC is slow as balls…but oh, “ I get 20-30 more fps for a couple seconds sometimes” bruh how stupid are these people. @@gamingsessions77 it’s not a take, it’s facts. How many reviews have u seen with 1% lows in ACTUAL GAMING (not bs benchmarks that mean almost nothing) that beat raptor lake? Almost 0. Hi do you feel the stutters when you slightly dip below 90fps? Sometimes mine drops to like 88-87 and i feel a small stutter, same for you or no? Thanks
Yes i do feel it stutters slightly when it drops below 90fps. the severity of the issue depends on the game I'm playing. for racing fast paced games its not as bad but for slower paced games like Alyx it might be more noticeable. setting the frame ahead to 2-3 might be a way to mitigate the issue so that it doesn't feel as bad
@@gamingsessions77 ahh i see, i get some mini 1 or 2 fps drops even in very easy to run games, makes me think it could be network or meta related?
@ it very well could be network. What type of network are you running? It’s not so much the speed with the 5ghz channel as it is the congestion which leads to the slower decoding on the headset which then leads to the frame drops.
SteamVR is another monster to deal with, I am having a Hell of a time streaming Metro Awakening without major reprojection issues and there(Vertigogames) Help desk is useless to figure out how to make it work so I can stream it to my viewers. I thought I had it figure out last week but not, to be blunt still messing with it to get it to work like it should, to be able to show off the new game. They are only hurting themselves at this point.
You have an odd resolution than the norm reviewer, because of the screen your playing on that may be why others were not reporting it. Just a guess.

No need to turn off PBO. Just turn off/dont use X3D Gaming Mode.
Just a bad windows install can have major effect on performance showcased by a lot of tech RUclipsrs.
Yes. But this was a fresh windows install so i doubt that was it. I think the codec i was using had to do with it. I prefer using H.264+ due to the extra bandwidth and lack of compression. i use it in all my VR games with no issues till i tried Alyx so it seems it's not a good fit for Alyx though as i demonstrated in another video h.264+ is the only codec that can prevent latency spikes in Alyx when viewing electrical sparks in the games
You can try fpsVR to check if it's GPU or CPU related. It shows more in depth performance overlay with separate GPU and CPU frame time plus VRAM and RAM utilisation.
BTW I don't know why your render resolution is changing. You might try changing your runtime to VDXR and compare
thanks. but unfortunately you can't change the runtime in Alyx to VDXR. only SteamVR
